Overview

They won't survive if they don't survive each other...

Alaska State Trooper Skip Ozhuwan has waited five years to reunite with Wren Terni, the woman he's always loved. Flying back home for his sister's wedding with only him and Wren in a chartered bush plane guarantees he'll have her undivided attention.

Ever since Skip arrested her five years earlier, Wren vowed never to lay eyes on him again. She's gotten sober and made a life for herself that she's proud of. Seeing Skip now throws her into a tailspin.

When the plane crashes, they are forced to battle a violent arctic storm, outwit predators, and dispose of a dead body. They must find a way to get past their differences if they are to survive to have a future together.

That is, if they don't kill each other first.

A Peek Inside:
“Get out of your wet clothes,” Skip said, following behind her, shrugging off his coat. “See if you can find my bag. If we don’t get dry, I don’t have to tell you how much trouble we’ll be in.”

Hypothermia. Number one killer in the state of Alaska.

She headed into the tail of the plane. “What does your bag look like?”

“Blue and gold.”

She should have known. Trooper colors. She bet his uniform was in his bag. Damn he looked good in his trooper uniform. She’d never admit it, but her good intentions would weaken to mush when he was all gussied up. Hell, who was she kidding? She’d never had good intentions back then. She barely had them now.

She found his bag, and under it were boxes of food. Lots of food. Someone had gone to Costco!
“There’s food!” Her stomach growled. She turned and tossed Skip’s bag toward him and then swiveled back to the food.

“Change your clothes first,” Skip said.

She glared at him from over her shoulder. “You knew there was food?”

“Yes.” He bent, and one-handed, unzipped his bag.

“You couldn’t have said something?”

He paused and looked at her from under his brows. “Been kinda busy with other things.”

“But I’m hungry.”

“You’re cold too. You’re probably so cold that you don’t feel it anymore. Now, get out of those wet clothes, or I’ll have to warm you up myself. And there will be nudity.”

"Impact is just what it sounds like. Tiffinie Helmer puts herself in the characters seat and takes the reader for a wonderful magical ride. Her knowledge of living and surviving in Alaska, adds drama and a real sense of what next. If your man enough to read a romance novel, this one is for you. If your woman enough, buy this for your special friend for Valentines Day. Either way you'll both be happier reading this one." ~ Amazon Reviewer

"Excellent read! I loved this short story so much. Great characters, location, humor. I especially loved being in Wren's POV. She's a funny, funny girl! I couldn't ask for much more. Very pleased with this, and was very entertained as well. I'd read it again, and I can't wait to read the other books in the series." ~ Amazon Reviewer

I’m always skeptical when an author has written a book that is set in Alaska. Most mess it up. But not this author. She nailed it and she did it with a part of Alaska not a lot are familiar with, unless you are a Deadliest Catch fan. The story starts out with a bang, or crash, and just keeps on going. I read it in one sitting. Granted it’s a short story, but I didn’t feel like it lacked in content or characterization as a lot of short stories that I have read do. I’m very pleased with my purchase and will buy another book from this author.

Adventure, close calls, a plane crash, and two people who might not survive their broken hearts is the creation of Tiffinie Helmer. In few words this author paints a story as vivid and touching as the Aurora Borealis reflecting off a predator's fangs. I am buckling my seat belt, who knows what will come next with this witty, sharp, and detailed author?

A must read for fun and suspense and romance

I loved this book. The characters will remain with me. Well written, fun, and kept me interested till the end. It truly put me in Alaska in that plane on the tundra in the snow storm. Loved it.

This was a fun novella. I enjoyed the characters. I loved watching them cope with an extreme situation in smart and practical ways. I loved the way they dealt with the past. And the romance? Sizzling, tender, and goose bump-rendering (and not just because they were in Alaska). I am excited to read more by this author! (The teaser at the end was so NOT enough)

Wow! Short, but very expressive! This novella is the prequel to Hooked, which just released this week! Not to many characters to meet in this short story, but I get the feeling there is a lot in both of their pasts that led them to do what they did. And now a bit about the story ...

It has been 5 years since Wren had seen Skip, her ex-boyfriend. The last time she saw him he had arrested her. After she served her time and clean-up her drug addicted act, she had become successful in Anchorage. Now here she was coming home for her best friends wedding and who is waiting for her at the airport? Skip - of course. She isn't sure if she wanted to kiss him or kill him. Now they have to take a little puddle jumper home together, she isn't sure she can be that close to him. Check out this book to see what IMPACT the plane ride has on their lack of relationship!

Favorite passage: Her words shuddered on a sob as the impact of his words sank into her. How could this man love her so much?

Now I can read Hooked and see how Wren and Skip fit into Sonya and Garret's story!
