    very basic

At best this book gives a very basic overview of the exporting function, but it is not a textbook! If you are looking for a short introduction to exporting to read on a Sunday afternoon then this book meets that purpose, but if you want something 'concrete' and practical it doesn't. A more substantial introductory book would be Alan Branch's book. As a note:all export starter-ups I know, and who have read this book, thought it was too general and inadequate for any practical use, it only gave them an idea of what its about. I also question its practical use outside of the US. That said, the fact that most exporters have read this book is testament to its use as an introductory tool.

    Lots of Good information.

Contains everything one needs to know to get started in the Import/Export business. Even explains how to fill out custom forms and the like. Very good information can be found within. Not light reading, almost like a textbook.

    Great book plus

This is a great book for its purpose which is to step start into international trade. Nelson's other book Exporting: A Manager's Guide to the World Market is the next step to learning how to compete in world business. It can also be found on B&N.com
