This double-CD set gleans some music John Coltrane did in the most fruitful period of his life, from the late 1950s to the mid-'60s. There are six studio tracks with his great quartet, another four in collaboration with Miles Davis, and two more with Eric Dolphy, comprising the first disc. The second CD brings back the quartet in concert performances, including the over-20-minute "My Favorite Things." All of the material is quite familiar, and very available on other compilations.
