THE BEST BOOK I'VE EVER READ, 12 YEARS LATER I STILL REMEMBER IT VERY CLEARLY!!!

This is the book to end all books. A co-worker who wanted to "test" me told me to read it when I was 17... two days later I gave it back to him and I REGRET IT!! I passed his "test", however and proved I wasn't scared, which was tough. This story out-ranks the Ammityville Horror by far!!! Why is the paperback edition over $80 everywhere I look? If I had this book in my posession (ha ha-that's a huge HINT) I'd read it over and over, it's so great. The Snedekers' story has inspired T.V. shows (IE Discovery's "A Haunting in Connecticuit") and now a MOVIE (samd title)! If this book was in demand 10 years ago until present, I surely won't be able to find it now, and I'm sure the price will go up yet again because of the movie.I've kept this book in my "back pocket" but I realize a lot of people who see the movie will want more. I'm counting on everyday people to be lazy and not want to read. It's worth it, though. I'm realizing I'm willing to pay because it's a book I've NEVER FORGOTTEN. If "IN A DARK PLACE" doesn't scare you, I'd get some help!!! If you buy this book, you won't be able to put it down, trust me. I'm so sorry a family had to go through this, but I'm thankful that they shared their story... even if it is for my entertainment:0 I dont' want to describe the story because I didn't know about it when I read it, and I don't want to give you any clues and spoil it for you!!! You'll just have to find out yourself!!! I will say this story involves posession, demonology (hello, Ed and Lorraine Warren-rest Ed's soul), incest (with the posession), and pure FEAR... but you'll keep reading. I think the book posesses THE READER in some ways!!!

    More Than You Could Imagine

Before reading the book, I watched a documentary on tv about this story. It did not even come close to this book! I waited almost 3 years to get a copy and it was well worth the wait. No other book could possibly detail the fear, horror and anguish this family experienced during this demonic attack. It definitely tells us that there are more to hauntings than phantom footsteps and voices. At times it is more than you could imagine, some times it's pure evil.....

The scariest thing I've ever read.

As a horror literature buff, it is no easy task for me to single out a particular book as 'the scariest thing I've ever read,' but if I had to choose, I would say that this book would be it. Penned in part by the 'demonologists' behind the haunting in Amityville, this book focuses on the incredible ordeals of a Connecticut family as they move into a new home. The imagery is both disturbing and haunting (pardon the pun). This book does for funeral homes and basements what 'JAWS' did for the water. Not for every reader, but if you love being scared witless, you'll love this book. But good luck finding it; I wish it wasn't out of print.

YOU WONT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN

This story is so interesting and yet so scary that you wont know whether to cry or yell....or scream. The unfortunate circumstances that this family had to endure was amazing and i think anyone who believes in the family strenghtshould pick up this and read the true test of the family.

the scariest thing ive ever read

My brother got this book from his friend his friend said this to him" man you gotta read this book" then my brother said wen do u want it back, his friend said"KEEP IT!!!!!" And now i know why, this book is insanely scary, i couldnt put it down, but the whole time i read it i was wishing i could. This family is soo unfortunate, and if they read this, all i have to say is "dear god, how could you stay in that kinda place, i woulda benn outta there the first week", but you guys eventually got out and i say good job, the most scary thing about this book is that its a true story, do not read thins book if you dont wanna wet yourself from pure terror.
