Hard to get into, nothing going on in this book to hold any interest. **Note to author, you constantly misuse the contraction ( I'm ) for ( I am ), that does not work they are not interchangeable.

The story was a good one and very fast paced. I little too fast in some spots.  I'm a fan of inst-love, but I nearly got whiplash with this one. Talon and Eaven are attracted to each other immediately. They are very compaatable and actually talk more than most couples in other books. They discussed major things very quickkly. Unfortunately, that wasn't alsways a trend. BUT, that is normal for people that age. It's easy to talk about your past. Your insecurities...not so much. The characters were well described, developed and likable. There are (basically) 2 families that this book revolves around and I found that I even had feelings for the parents and siblings. A couple things that I would love to see worked on by Hilary in future books: The writing was a bit choppy and didn't flow extremely well at times. (pet peeve: There are times "I am" should be used instead if I'm".) There was angst in the story. Unfortunately, each situation was typically resolved within a page or so. A little suspense would have gone a long way to making this a page turner. I picked this up as a set and am looking forward to seeing Hilary's writing grow.

Likable characters, but simplistic writing style. I work for the National Alliance on Mental Illness & I'd like to note that 1 in 4 Amricans live with a mental health condition. In most instances when violence occurs with a person with a mental illness the violence is being perpetrated AGAINST the person with the illness. The media rarely portrays those with mental lness in a positive light.

This book was fantastic. I fell in love with Talon & Eaven. It made me laugh, cry and hold my breath. The love that he had with his family and the depth they went for each other and how she was able to bring him out of his dark self imposed corner was wonderful. I absolutely fell him love with them and can't wait to read book 2.

In A Heartbeat (Rebel Walking book 1)                         By - Hilary Storm This is Talon and Eaven's story. Eaven has been life emotionally broken after being hurt by her ex. Lacking in self confidence,  she is starting fresh in college with her best friend and roommate Ivy.  Talon is a gorgeous,  sexy, but very dark drummer in the band Rebel Walking.  Talon was broken by his ex and it's left him brooding and in a constant dark bad mood.  "...You came into my darkness and in a heartbeat you brought light into my life..." After being introduced by Eaven's cousin and Talon's band member,  Luke, an instant attraction is formed. Can these two help each other move beyond their pasts and build a future together?  It appears they can until the past comes crashing back in and risks them losing it all.  "... If I had never met you, I wouldn't be here with you feeling more love than I have felt in my entire life..."  I love this book for the incredible characters, for the sit on the edge of your seat twists and turns, for their heart wrenching pasts, and for the laughs you have along the way. I am more than happy to give this book a Nerd Alert A ++ or 5 stars all the way! I can not wait to get my hands on the next book and get to know Taron!!

So here we have a young adult Eaven Bennett who is leaving her home-town to go to college with her best friend, her sister from another mister Ivy Adams. These two characters you can tell have an unbelievable strong connection. Its like they were meant to be related, but somehow missed the chance (in the blood side). We know in the beginning that something happened to Eaven which threw her off of men in general. She's young, naive, no self confidence whatsoever, she's been broken down and made to feel small and can't seem to get past it, she shuts down. Eaven and Talon first meet at a bar. His band "Walking Rebel" is preforming, and Eaven is there to watch. Her cousin also plays in this band, hence why she was there in the first place. When both Eaven and Talon's eyes first meet, you can tell that there is a connection, a spark of some kind! Both sides of them can feel this chemistry bouncing off one another, trying to lull them in. What makes a drummer boyfriend material? Perhaps its the tattoo painted on his skin? The hard abs? The piercing eyes that can melt you with a single stare? Or is it those powerful arms that can hit those drums right? Talon, the dark haired, tattooed back hunk of a drummer. This is every girls fantasy, a dark and mysterious band player for them to hook up with, your wrong there, maybe his twin Taron, he's the player in the band. Talon also has had a tragic past, I don't really want to say much else and it will spoil it for you all :) I know I sometimes reveal some bits but this time I can't :( Anyway back to Talon, yes he's also broken, grief stricken, not looking for a relationship type of guy, that of course all changes when he locks eyes with Eaven in the bar, when she is doing a body shot to impress the lads :) Its beautiful how Hilary wrote the story that magnifies between Talon & Eaven, such an emotional rollercoaster and it had it's steamy HOT points too, you will not be disappointed. I fricking LOVED Taron. Yes he's the spitting twin of Talon in looks wise, but personality, something draws me more to Taron than it does Talon. Maybe its his man-whore ways, who knows, but I am sooo looking forward to the next book. The next book Heaven Sent I believe is based on Taron & Ivy. There have such an awesome banter between them. They certainly have met their match in whoreness :) I do hope further down the line hope we get a Holden story and possibly a Luke with Lilly story *Cough Hint Cough*

In A Heartbeat by Hilary Storm, was at the top of my TBR list and I am pleased to say it was worth the wait! Aside from the hot hunky Walker brothers, twins Talon and Taron and older brother Holden, I got an up and coming rocker band, drum lessons that made Phil Collin's "In The Air Tonight" my new favorite makeout song, and some awesome suggestions for body shots. Lead heroine Eaven is more than ready to move past her ex and into her last two years at college before starting her photography career with her bestfriend and college roomie, Ivy. Having lived by the rules her whole life she is ready to start breaking a few. Meeting the Walker Brothers, and Talon specifically, opens new opportunities to test the limits. Talon, damaged by loss and betrayal he wears daily, is the brooding drummer for "Rebel Walking," surrounded by groopies he doesn't acknowledge, a family he relies on, and an ability to see Eaven for who she is. When the two come together it will make you want to flashback to the 80's and grab a set of drumsticks! While the sex scenes aren't overly descriptive, they are well written and quite enjoyable! Overall the dialoge is fantastic and you really get a feel for each of the main characters. I do wish there had been more descriptive language used with their surroundings, the older brother Holden, and inbetween the dialogue, but I will definately be reading Taron's story next! Free ebook given in exchange for an honest review.

When you meet the one you just know!! Two people, each trying to deal with bad break-ups, Eaven and Talon meet and fall hard and fast for each other. An emotionally unstable ex tries to destroy their life's! Can strong family bonds, caring friends and their love and trust for one another help them survive? Loved this story and am looking forward to more from Hilary Storm and her Rebel Walking series. Received ARC for review

I love when I can curl up with a book and feel every emotion while reading it. Hilary Storm's In a Heartbeat did just that. From the minute I picked this book up I couldn't put it down. Instantly fell in love Talon and Eaven. And we all know I love the crazy best friends so Taron and Ivy had me laughing.  Eaven went through a bad breakup and has built walls up to protect her heart. When she thinks no one will be able to break them she meets her cousin's band mate, Talon. Talon has been living in the dark for months and won't put himself through the heartache he felt again. The chemistry between these two is instant. They both know this is something they will not be able to fight. I loved that Eaven was able to overcome her insecurities and show her true self. She is a fantastic character. It's not all hearts and balloons for these two. One minute they will be on cloud nine and the next their world comes crashing down. It's not a long coaster ride, but it does have its bumps.  Eaven's roommate and best friend Ivy cracks me up every time. She says exactly what comes to her mind without even thinking which makes her a perfect counterpart to Talon's twin brother Taron. I cannot wait to read their book. This is the first book in the Rebel Walking Series and Hilary Storm's debut novel. It's a rock star book, romance, heartbreak, friendship and family all wrapped up in one. A perfect balance of every element. I can't wait to read more of Hilary's work.

In a Heartbeat is the first book in the Rebel Walking series by Hilary Storm. It is the story of Eaven Bennett and Talon Walker. Eaven - like Heaven without the H - is a college student who is lucky enough to be at school with her best friend Ivy. Talon is a member of the band Rebel Walking who is still trying to deal with the tragedy of his last relationship. Talon is not the only one who bears scars, and Eaven must learn to let herself explore life outside of her comfort zone. Will they open themselves up to a chance at love, even if there is possible hurt? In this first of the series, we are introduced to not just Eaven and Talon, but we meet the rest of Rebel Walking, as in Taron the gorgeous twin of Talon, Luke who is Eaven's cousin, Holden, Talon and Taron's older brother, and Lily the Walker boys' cousin; along with a few friends and fans. Oh, and don't forget the exes!  I enjoyed watching Eaven evolve from the shy girl to a daring, take control young woman. Then there is Ivy and her sass... Ivy is just the kind of girl I would have wanted to be friends with growing up! She and Eaven compliment each other in so many ways that they are quite the dynamic duo. In a Heartbeat has plenty of action that keeps the story moving at the perfect pace. Bar parties, body shots, boating, hot tubbing, concerts....and, of course, plenty of steamy sex scenes. I don't want to ruin any of the surprises for you, so no spoilers here. I will say that toward the end, you will be holding your breath and speed reading to see what happens. I am anxious for Heaven Sent to be released...I believe that we get to see a whole lot more of the sassy and sexy banter between Ivy and Taron.

Oh my goodness!!  I have to admit... I was snickering through this book... The main characters are Eaven, and Talon, but hahah I totally LOVED Ivy and Taron!! Ivy is a sassy quick witted chick that takes no smack from anyone..haha oh my, and Taron he dishes it out faster than any guy thinking his crap doesn't stink and can get anyone.. hahah except Ivy..love it! Eaven is your more calmer type.. more shy.. and Ivy is trying to break her from that.. and her first time meeting up with her Cousins friends well lets just say a Body Shot incident could of made as straight girl go Ohhh My.. Poor Talon didn't stand a chance. Talon had his own struggles, bad things had happened..which I wont go into.. due to spoiling the good read.  I'm so glad that he met Eaven..she's perfect for this rockstar drummer!  He totally doesn't portray the drummer attitude which is really sweet. Hilary this book is awesome.. I can't wait to read more!!

When I first started this book, I wasn’t really sure what to expect as I had not heard anything about it yet. So, I didn’t know whether we were talking about a romance or a western novel. But, as I began to turn the pages, I knew. And I was overjoyed.Everyone loves a good romance novel. This book fits that description perfectly. The story starts out a little slow, but it isn’t long before the story picks up and you are blasted into a world of fairy-tale romance. Not that the road is easy for either one of them. I love the characters in this book. They are so realistic and you can relate to them so well. Well..except for maybe Ivy!! LOL I wish I could be like her but I don’t see making an impression like she does as up my alley. But otherwise, what a fantastic set of people to intermingle with each other. I have to say I fell IN LOVE with Taron. I know! I know! What a jerk..right? But I can’t help it! I know I should be in love with Talon, but I can’t relate with someone with so much past drama and even though he comes off on the surface as this sex obsessed jerk, underneath he loves completely the things he cares for. Unfortunately, for him it’s sex and his brother. But still. I must just love the bad boys. Hee HeeAll in all, I really loved this story. It was a very simple idea and I like that in a book. When an author begins to complicate things the book can become overwhelming, but not in this situation. It was a quick read but a necessary one.
