In a Heartbeatby Rj Nolan
Dr. Riley Connolly, a successful trauma surgeon, has spent her whole life trying to measure up to her family
Veteran police officer Sam McKenna has no trouble facing down criminals on a daily basis but breaks out in a sweat at the mere mention of commitment. A recent failed relationship strengthens her resolve to stick with her trademark no-strings-attached affairs.
Dr. Riley Connolly, a successful trauma surgeon, has spent her whole life trying to measure up to her family's expectations. And that includes hiding her sexuality from them.
When a routine call sends Sam to the hospital where Riley works, the two women are hurtled into a life-and-death situation. The incident binds them together. But can there be any future for a commitment-phobic cop and a closeted, workaholic doctor?

I have had this book on my Get It Now list for MONTHS before it was released! The wait was worth it. In a Heartbeat is a companion piece to LA Merto. While Kim and Jess are present this book is also a wonderful stand alone tale of Jess' sister Sam McKenna and fiesty ER Trauma suregon Riley Connolly. I could not put this book down! I read it in one sitting. I loved that Jess and Kim were back and I got to continue their story. But even if they had not been there I would have loved this book anyway. This story is just so real! Truly any and everything in the book could have actually happened and most likely has. I really, really enjoyd this drama and it is already back on my To Read list. I wonder if she would ever consider writing a follow up (HINT HINT)... Thank you Ms Nolan!
I enjoyed both books about the McKenna sisters. Love me some sweet storyline plots and a well written book.
This is a great, great book. The series starting with L A metro is best I have ever read. I can really relate to Riley. It was so exciting to see these two women find each other. I am a woman of color and have a problem with trust. I hope someday to overcome. I don't know if these books were ment to give hope 'but they sure did for me.I hope we will be reading more about these wonderful women.( maybe you could write a book with a woman of coloer and a white woman) I highly recomend this book for all women.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I read LA Metro a while back and enjoyed it immensely. I recommend both books. Lily El Paso TX
