IN BED WITH THE COMPETITION is an adult, contemporary, romantic

IN BED WITH THE COMPETITION is an adult, contemporary, romantic story by J.K.Coi. The premise follows one time close friends and co-workers Elizabeth Carlson and Ben Harrison-as they compete for supremacy and the coveted financial support at a software convention in Antigua.  This is a second chance friends to lovers storyline.
Told from two distinct close third person POVs, the premise follows Elizabeth (Beth) and Ben as they reconnect in the lush tropics of Antigua. As they both struggle for supremacy in the field of AI IT technology Beth will also struggle with her feelings for the man she pushed away one year earlier.  When Ben asked Beth to go to New York with him and start a new business, Beth all but ran in the other direction. Now one year later Beth is at the top of her game and Ben is the competition and man standing in her way.
The relationship between Beth and Ben is sensual, exotic and hot. Ben pulls Beth into a week long rendezvous where Beth learns that she may have been used by the man with whom she has always loved. Their backstories are revealed through memories and flashbacks where we learn that both had losses and darkness that needed to be overcome.
The world building take the reader into the tropical paradise of Antigua and behind the scenes of a very competitive industry.
The secondary characters are colorful and set up the conflict and resolutions. IN BED WITH THE COMPETITION finds two people competing for the same prize but end up with love and a happily ever after.

This one got off to a bit of a slow start for me. The first half was full of both Elizabeth and Ben doubting themselves and their feelings and trying to justify what they felt as something they needed to get our of their systerm - an island fling. Deep down they both know it's more, they were just incredible stubborn and refused to admit it. There were a handful of very memorable scenes in the first half. Their snorkeling expedition and "hanging out" in the boat afterwards were very fun and exciting to read.

They both have business partners with them that seem intent to ruin their personal lives - not intentionally, just by being stupid people. Once the convention they are attending actually gets started things begin to get really interesting. There is a scheme running the the background that I caught onto right away - I think you're supposed to - and it really made we feel bad for Elizabeth. I wanted to tell her to wake up and smell the coffee, but I totally got why she refused to.

The romance itself doesn't seem like it's going to end well. Now, don't worry there is a HEA, but not until after several misses and brush offs. It was just a tad too much for me.

I don't read a lot of traditional romance, not because I have anything against them, I just find that normally I think they are a little cheesy. They're so sweet, you know how I am. I like dark angsty stuff, but this one sounded good so I went with it.

I was right In Bed with the Competition is just a quick, cute, fluffy read. I liked both of our main characters, but there isn't a lot of depth to their development. They both had "pasts" not only with one another, but themselves but I didn't feel like we were able to delve into it. It was kind of just there on the surface, something they characters dealt with, but never really went into.

I was going along with my reading, enjoying myself until we hit the end. I felt like there was no resolution. I won't go into it because I don't want to give spoilers, but I wanted to know more about the couples future. I don't know how a few days were suppose to change Liz enough to make her comfortable with what they ended up with. Are we just suppose to pretend it was a happily ever after? If having to read The Frog Prince Continued to my Son every night for the last few months has taught me anything, it's that you never really know what will happen after the book says "the end". I wish we would have been made to feel more comfortable with where we left them. Give us an epilogue or something, you know?

Overall, I liked In Bed with the Competition and it's worth a few minutes before bed if you like the traditional romance formula.

Elizabeth Carlson has always been afraid to take a chance on lov

Elizabeth Carlson has always been afraid to take a chance on love. When Ben Carlson had asked her to come with him to New York, she refused. Time passed and they both worked hard to be successful. Now they meet again at a business convention. Will she give love a chance even though he is the competition? I enjoyed this entertaining and sensual story. I especially liked Ben. He is a charming and compassionate hero. He understands Elizabeth's emotional turmoil and wants to be there for her. Their romance is very volatile even though they have great sexual chemistry. What a battle of wills! The secondary characters grabbed my attention. I really want to learn more about Steve Nolan, Ben's partner. What happened with him and the reporter? Antigua was the perfect setting for this story and the impending storm ramped up the tension. J.K. Coi wrote a fast-packed and romantic story that I enjoyed. It's a perfect summertime escape.

Beth and Beth were best friends until Ben decided to move to New York. He asks Beth to move with him and she refuses, thus setting the stage a year later for a fun yet shouldering completion.  They have both developed similar products and are trying to impress an investor. They also decide to follow their chemistry and begin to pursue each other.

The writing is fast paced, but the dialogue is witty and fun. The story does a good job of setting out history and the supporting characters are well rounded.

A great second chance story. Well written, with intriguing characters and a great storyline. She lived her life afraid of taking chances so when he asked her to take a chance with her heart she couldn't do it. When they are reunited at a week long convention can things work out when they are competing for the same things?? A great book I would highly recommend.
