Overview

Faith and loyalty are tested as a young girl learns what it is to believe - in herself, in her friends, and in life after death.

Cassie's best friend, bad boy Todd, is gone. Gone as in dead. Gone as in ghost.

But she doesn't realize that when he wakes her in her bedroom and begs her not to believe what they say about him. It's not until the next day when her parents tell her about the accident that she learns the truth...

The police believe Todd was living up to the family name, drinking and driving and coming to a predictable end. It's up to her to find out the truth and clear his name.

Todd is shocked at his sudden change in circumstances...and angry. He struggles with his new ghostly reality, realizing all he's lost as he watches his brother build a relationship with Cassie as the two pair up to find out what really happened to him.

The truth isn't always pretty, and Cassie has to be stronger than ever before. Especially when the whole world seems to be against her.

Editorial Reviews

DragonRene Reviews - Ava Rene
A very sweet and touching YA read that had me smiling frequently and in need of a tissue for tears of sadness at times. A complete and total mystery, with deceit, death and various kinds of love are just some of the experiences one will go through when reading In Cassie's Corner. Any YA paranormal or YA romance fan will fully enjoy this heartbreaking story a story that shouts out to the reader to not take advantage of anything in life.
Reading the Paranormal Reviews - Kelly Rubidoux
A sweet, if sometimes awkward, blossoming romance with Todd's younger brother (awkward because everyone believes that Todd and Cassie were dating and they kinda give Jessie the stink eye for picking up Todd's leavings) and a horribly strained relationship between Cassie and her parents keep the plot moving. Cassie's dogged determination to not fall into the trap of believing what everybody's saying about Todd is touching and smacks of someone who won't blindly follow the crowd.
Laura's Reviews - Laura M
I really, really enjoyed this book. It was a surprisingly deep story with very pertinent issues for today's youth. The characters are very well developed and are easy to care about. The ending was a surprise and although I teared up, I wouldn't have changed it one bit. An excellent read for adults and YA.
Romance/Horror/Fantasy Reviews
I loved how the beginning started. you knew there was something wrong, but couldn't imagine what it was. The pain and sorrow were so heartfelt. I loved how the love wasn't rushed like so many ya books do. It was far more realistic.
A.Clark Reviews - A Clark
This isn't my first book to read by Dale Mayer and won't be my last. I have yet to be disappointed in one of her stories.

Dale Mayer - In Cassie's Corner
Cassie Merchant has just lost her very best friend,Todd Spence. When his ghost appears and pleads with her not to believe what people say, she goes on a mission to find out the truth. Knowing Todd better than anyone else, she knows the facts just don’t match up. She just needs to get others to believe her without revealing she’s talking to a ghost.

To me this story goes a bit further than fiction. How many times do we prejudge someone or talk about the dead in a disrespectful way? Just as people misjudged Todd because he put a tough shield over himself, so often we do the same without truly knowing someone. This book grabbed me from page one and didn’t let go. You may want to keep the tissues handy.

Cassie Merchant is woken up by her best friend Todd. He is insistent that she not believe what people are saying about him. Like all sixteen year olds, Cassie is more worried what will happen if her parents will hear him in her bedroom so late. She is relieved but perplexed at his quiet and rapid exit, when she brings her attention back to him. The next morning, Cassie receives news that will change her life.

Before Todd Spence visited Cassie, he was killed in a car accident. As her friend was always seen as the bad boy in school, rumours are spreading fast that he was drink driving. Only Cassie knows better. She knew Todd better, better than anyone else and is adamant to clear his name. Along with high school drama and a strained relationship with her parents, Cassie can see and hear Todd. Having Todd pop in and out of her life is helping her with her grief. She also finds help from Jesse, Todd's younger brother and her long time crush. Together, they push for answers about Todd's death. Was he drinking that night? Was he alone in his car? And who is sending Facebook messages from his account?

In Cassie's Corner is a wonderfully written book that deals with death, heartbreak, hope and moving on. This is the first book of Dale Mayer that I have read and I will be reading more. **I was given this book in exchange for an honest review**
