Though Springsteen and his new band don't "rock it" too hard for the most part, a notable exception is a performance of the previously unrecorded "Light of Day," a title song Springsteen wrote for a 1987 movie. Here, he gives a taste of the enthusiasm and spontaneity he can bring to his live performances. But this is an album of small pleasures rather than a major performance statement.

    A Minor Effort

    This is without a doubt Springsteen's most lackluster live recording.
    Instead of the band inspiring The Boss, it's the other way around. Except for Roy Brittan.these players are unknowns, forcing Bruce to carry the load on both guitar and vocals. None of the then new songs became classics and only If I Should Fall Behind appeared on later concert albums. This set is mainly proof that Springsteen and The E Street Band needed each other.
