O Lord, my God, I pray that these things never end: The sand and the sea, The rush of the waters, The crash of the heavens, The prayer of the heart.
Around the world and throughout time, people have spoken simple words that make them feel better when they are sad, brave when they are afraid, and befriended when they are alone -- or just pleased to be alive on God's earth.
Here, gathered together by Reeve Lindbergh, are treasured words from many cultures and faiths, seventy-seven poems and prayers in all. With art fresh, bright, and warm by four contemporary artists from four different countries, In Every Tiny Grain of Sand is a diverse and beautiful collection of words and images, offering young children and families of all beliefs the gifts of deeply felt tradition, abiding comfort, and spiritual strength.
