I bought this product based on the one review at B&N.com and was very disappointed in the product. The CD had several weaknesses as a teaching tool: The French speakers on the CD recite words and phrases too fast for beginners. There is never a slow, sounded-out pronunciation of a word. Each word is recited only once and then they move on to the next phrase or word. If you missed the word or pronunciation, you have to rewind and listen again, and again, and again.
Save yourself the money, money and most of all frustration and buy a different product.

If you are going to France for a week or less, this is the package to buy! I listened to the CD for a half hour on the way to work and back home every day for three weeks (about 8 hours total). I had used the In Flight Japanese on a previous trip and was sold on the product. I have tried several other CD based packages, and most have thousands of words and phrases you will never need for business or vacation travel. The CD and booklet are broken into short, reasonable sections covering greetings, numbers, money, at the hotel, restaurant, etc. I highly recommend this as a starting point for learning any language.
