The setting for her backyard is very park-like and picturesque. Appealing full-page colorful illustrations compliment the predictable text and the text pattern is consistent throughout the story. The large print will make it easy for the reader to track the words, one by one. Each sentence contains the word "have" and concludes with the words "in my backyard." A beginning reader will appreciate the repetitive text and simple sentences, making this book a favorite first reader. At the conclusion of this book there is a word list of key words from the story, a paragraph about the author, and a paragraph about the illustrator. For the price, this little book with its large print, predictable text, and engaging illustrations, is likely be a treasure for a beginning reader.
