    Intelligent kids' music

By his own admission, Tom Chapin started doing children's albums because his daughters (at the time age 6-8) had outgrown Raffi, but were not ready for "rebellion and love songs, the stuff on pop radio." He has created albums that adults are not afraid to listen to, with songs incorporating many different influences. The results are catchy children's songs with complex and diverse rhythms, styles and lyrics, far superior to the usual bland pablum that usually passes for children's music. Classical, boogie-woogie, ska, balads, it's all here, with my daughter and I singing along. My daughter's favorite songs are "Goosetown Halloween," "Street Fair," and "Homemade Lemonade." My favorites are "Dog Rules," "A Mozart Duet," and "Da Baby Sitter."
