    Very nice debut

The book started off really interesting but then it would lag in a couple of chapters and then pick up again. I thought the book was good but there was a lot going on at the same time. For instance, the relationship between Zola and Nettie. I thought the author could have elaborated a little more on their relationship. I could not understand why Nettie hated Ish so much? I think that the book left a lot of questions to be answered. The ending seemed kind of rushed and it was like falling off a cliff. It just ended and the reader is left to wonder what happened. Overall I thought the book was excellent, however I think that the author should have taken more time to develop the story and the characters more. I also was think that there should have been more to the ending instead of the author leaving us hanging like that.

    In My Hood

Endy has done a bang up job in her debut novel! Desiree, a once attractive business woman, meets the love of her life Bunchy. She discovers that he is a heroin addict. In her belief that experiencing his high would somehow bring them closer, she experiences and becomes addicted to cocaine. While trying to get off of 'E', their apartment is bombarded and they witness two friends being murdered. Miraculously, both of their lives are spared. The two addicts tries to strike 'Ghetto Rich' by masterminding one of the most successful robberies of their hood. Their need to get high, leads to their capture. Desiree was sentenced to 5 yrs in prison, while bunchy was serving life. Desiree was devastated to learn that her soul mate (Bunchy) took his own life in prison. After her release from prison, she struggles to remain sober and vows to get her life together. With no place to go, she returns to her hood. Desiree is certain that she'll never love again until she meets Ishamel, the man who runs her hood. She battles to stay away from his kind but her heart wins that battle and they quickly become an item. Just as she decides to give her all to him, She discovers that Ish is behind the murders of her friends. Can she keep her sobriety while living in the same environment that landed her in prison? Can she forgive and forget that the man she loves had something to do with the death of her friends? If you don't know anything about the hood, sit back and get a dose of Endy's 'hood. She gives it to you raw with no chaser. As you read, you'll feel like you are right there in the struggle with Desiree. I will reccommend this book ALL DAY LONG!! And this is just her first book...the best is yet to come!

    In My Hood

Endy drops her debut novel with a BANG! In my 'hood is a story about every 'hood. The main charachter, Desiree, a once very attractive, successful business woman, meets Bunchy, the man of her dreams. She falls so hard for him, she decides that getting high along with him will bring them closer. She becomes addicted to cocaine, while he's a heroin addict. One day, while trying to get off of E, their apartment is bumbarded and they witness the murder of their best friends. Somehow, their lives were spared. Being the junkies that they were, they decide and manage to pull off one of the biggest robberies in their 'hood in an attempt to get 'ghetto rich'. They didn't get far before their capture. Bunchy gets life in prison while Desiree gets 5 yrs. Bunchy takes his own life in prison. Desiree returns to her 'hood after her release and wonders how to move on without her man. She struggles to stay clean and sober while vowing to get her life together. She never thought she'd love another until she meets the man who runs her 'hood. Ishmael is the man and gets what he wants. He wants Desiree and he gets her. Desiree battles hard not to fall for a man that reminds her so much of her past. But her heart wins that battle. She and Ish quickly becomes an item. She is all set to completely give herself to him until she discovers that he is behind the murders of her friends. Endy does a remarkable job in bringing you to the 'hood. This novel has just enough of everything. It's not too street and it's not too mushy. It's a story that you will enjoy from beginning to end! I will recommend this novel all day long!!! If you want a glimpse of what goes on in the 'hood, pick up this novel. Endy takes you on a ride like no other!! She gives it to you RAW-no sugar coating this one. If you don't know about the 'hood, Endy certainly lets you know that it's not a game!! And this is only her first novel....

    Straight to the Point

Everybody has a hood where things you hear about in the news, you actually see in real life. Desiree Johnson (Rae-Rae) was your typical hardworking woman who began to walk into the wrong hood. She met the love of her life, Bilal Wilson (Bunchy), who made her make a turn for the worst. Bilal was a hardworking man during the day and a crack head at night. After witnessing a double murder, Desiree and Bilal decide they would commit a robbery in order to feed their drug habit and live a reasonable life. The plan went bad, causing both to be jailed. Will they continue to be soul mates during this period of separation? Desiree gets out on good behavior and another shot at freedom, but will she do the right things? Ishmael Jenkins is making his living in the streets with drugs and has more money than most politicians. The streets are starting to heat up which causes major problems for Ishmael and his crew. He meets Desiree and believes she is his soul mate. Will this be a healthy relationship for Desiree? She is trying to avoid the hood and drugs, but is caught between a rock and a hard place. Will the past reveal something that will make it hard for Desiree and Ishmael to maintain a relationship? In My Hood was an excellent read and deserving of five stars. Endy provides a first hand account of what hood life is for so many people. In My Hood so far is the best book I've read for the year 2007.

    THIS BOOK IS HOT!!!!

In the debut novel In my Hood from author Endy, readers are invited into a very candid look at life in the hood. If you know anything about a hood you know that it is a place where anything goes, you will see everything from drug addicts to drug dealers and it doesn¿t stop there, the thieves provide excitement as the alcoholics entertain you. In this novel you meet Desiree ¿Rae Rae¿ Johnson a smart woman with her head on straight with a very bright future. An accidental meeting with a handsome stranger turns into a whirlwind love affair and while in love Desiree is blinded by the fact that her current beau has a heroine addiction, instead of leaving she tries to understand the addiction and ends up becoming addicted to cocaine herself. Desiree finds herself in the center of all the drama as she witnesses a double murder, plans a robbery and serves a five year prison term. Once released she vows to make a better life for her, but never imagined meeting, let alone falling head over heels in love with the largest drug dealer in the hood. In My Hood will have readers on the edge of their seats anticipating the next move. This book is packed with action and suspense as well as a bit of comedy all rolled into one explosive book! Readers will find themselves mesmerized by the author¿s words in print. The author does an outstanding job of unfolding a definite page turner. Readers will not be disappointed with this debut novel from Endy. This is sure to be a book club¿s must read if it isn¿t already. If this is any indication of the talent this fresh on the scene writer brings to the literary world, then readers will definitely be in for a delight and will not be let down! Kudos to Endy for a superb introduction and allowing readers in her hood!
