I loved this book! It was just what I needed to get me out of a week of poli-sci homework! Loved it!
I highly recommend this one to any chick-lit lover! Super cute one, I promise! I loved the fact that Pilar was a therapist, just because of all the analyzing humor she did. At one point she went on a date with this super obnoxious body-builder guy, who OMG I wanted to kick his face! This guy was such a jackass! He kept making absolutely rude comments to Pilar about her eating choices, and telling her how much fat she was eating, and how she should really think about losing fifteen pounds AND THEN AFTERWARDS getting a personal trainer! You know what I would have done? I would taken that WHITE ROLL, because this guy had a racist thing going on with white food!!, and eaten that damn thing! AND ENJOYED IT!! And then afterwards I would been like, "Okay, while I enjoyed this tasteless food that you have ordered for me...NOT, I've got to get going and get myself a BIG FAT JUICY hamburger with a nice order of fries!!" haha Just kidding, but seriously, that guy was a complete jerk! I just loved Pilar's reaction to him, and how she realized immediately that this guy was not for her!
Pilar's mother, WOW!, as a mother she would drive me insane! But definitely a super entertaining person! Her sister, Izzy, while a pain in the ass, I definitely didn't blame her sometimes on her wanting to rebel against her parents, however, she definitely was a spoiled little brat!
And Oh God, how can I forget!! Ford!! OMG FORD!! What a hottie!! Dark hair, blue eyes! YES!! My type of guy right there!! I imagined a middle aged Zac Efron...:), McDreamy 2.0!
So if you're interested in reading In Need of Therapy, then you can either buy it on Amazon and Barnes and Noble for only $1.99!!
:)
Definitely read it! :)

Dr. Pilar Alvarez is trying to make it as a new psychologist in Miami,
find her Mr. Wonderful to share her life with, and babysit her younger,
troublesome sister. Life is crazy to say the least and seems to only get
crazier when she meets Ford, the cute BUT married Doctor next door. Will
Pilar find love before her mother declares her an eternal spinster? Or
could love be right around the corner? After coming down from my latest
read...a zombie one I might add...In Need of Therapy was perfect book to
bring me back into the real world. It is a comical read that was just
too cute for words. There were too many funny and favorite quotes to
mention, but this one was my fav… "Wow, it's like being back in
Psych 101. Now, I remember why I dropped that class." Izzy chomped
down on the chewy center of her Tootsie Pop. "I'll just leave the
two of you to overanalyze yourselves into a stupor." When it comes
to characters that are easy to love In Need of Therapy has exactly that.
Pilar is a great character that has a good head on her shoulders
compared to the rest of her family. You really want it all to work out
for her in the end. Izzy is a fun character that made sure she kept her
sister (and the rest of her family) on their toes. But the one character
that had me laughing was Victor. Lord help him, if he wasn't so dumb,
his actions would be considered threatening. He is like an annoying bug
that won’t stop bugging you. Poor guy, he just doesn’t think. In Need
of Therapy has a smart, funny storyline that has you smiling the whole
time. The author will keep you laughing and smirking through most of the
book with her witty writing and silly characters. So if you are looking
for a fun, chick-lit story to read while sitting at the pool this
summer…look no further. In Need of Therapy is just the book for you.

I've been following Tracie for a while on Twitter, so when she approached me to review this book, I jumped at the opportunity. It sounded fun and I like to support indie authors when I have time. I'll be honest with you. I underestimated how much fun and just how entertaining this book was going to be. This book is perfect as a summer read.
The book follows Dr. Pilar Alvarez throughout her new psychotherapy practice and through her admittedly crazy family life. I'm not sure where there were more nuts...in her practice or family.
Pilar is Latino and lives in South Beach. The thing that makes Pilar a great therapist, makes her life really tough. She's a nice person, always willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. She understands what makes people tick and why they do certain things which makes her an extremely empathetic soul. It also means that others don't think too hard about taking advantage of her. From her obsessive ex, who didn't become that way until she made him an ex to the good-looking man-whore Mitch, who's her patient. Her life is filled with the "wrong" guys. Even her new friend and colleague, Ford, the new psychiatrist who moved in across the hall is wrong in that he's married.
Add to that, she's living with her 23 yo wild-child sister, is on the verge of her 30th birthday with a mother who's sure she's about to become a spinster, is close to losing her practice as she's hanging by a financial thread....and things are a little stressful in her life.
The book is told entirely in 1st person from Pilar's POV and it's so funny. You get to see into her sessions with some of her more "entertaining" patients. You also see way more of her family than Pilar would really like. It's simply a fun book to read. I liked Pilar. She's just a nice person who gets screwed way more than she should, so it was fun to read how everything works out for her in the end. From one page to another, I wasn't sure how that was going to happen, but I like how it finally did. I liked it!
I received a complementary copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Synopsis:
Pilar is excited to be starting her practice as a psychologist. She has a little help from family but is excited to be out on her own. It also doesn’t hurt that the new neighbor is a handsome psychiatrist Dr. Ford. Pilar dishes out advice to her clients, family, and friends. Will she take some of her own advice? When drama occurs with her younger sister Izzy, and her ex who still thinks he is part of her life. What will happen next?
My Thoughts:
This is my first novel by Tracie Banister. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed it! This novel was easy to read for me. The author did a great job keeping me interested in what would happen next. The story is engrossing! I found that several characters were easy to identify with. I found myself wanting to fight for Pilar and her success.
I thought the author did a great job of writing about the Latino Culture in Miami area. She is very insightful how she develops character. I had questions throughout this novel about Ford. I wondered what his true relationship with Pilar would be? The author waited till the end to tell us, but it was worth the wait. A definite read for International Chick Lit Month!

This book made me laugh and appreciate the nutty family we all have. Pilar is a psychologist who is trying to build her own practice, play mother hen to her younger sister, and handle passes made from patients. This was a very well written book; you could relate to Pilar's life and the roller coaster ride that ensues. Really, what's a girl to do when you have three men chasing after you, hopefully pick the right one. The witty humor kept me with a smile on my face all the while I was reading the book. In the end Pilar gets her man. I would recommend this book, it is very entertaining. I would give 4 stars.
