Loved this book. My grandmother 's grandmother was warned by a friendly indian and hid her baby in a butter churn . Then she harnessed her horses to a wagon and raced to safety in Mankato with her baby. That is why I am here today!

Well researched and well written. Wish the maps were larger; they are impossible to see at the current size and I couldn't enlarge them on my Nook as I can with some other graphics. The original series ran in the Star Tribune newspaper, and there were also lots of other wonderful historical photos, which I wish were included.

This is a fascinating narrative of an event in Minnesota history that
should never be forgotten. I am ashamed of the behavior of some of our
Minnesota forefathers who have been held in high enough esteem to have
streets and parks named after them. Mr. Brown brings the characters to
life and fleshes out the story based on much research. I appreciate the
report on how it still affects the ancestors of the people involved and
hope it will bring about reconciliation.

This was a very interesting read, and at the same time very disturbing. No wonder the indians hate the white man.

The rain falls harder as you go up the path. A small lake with plenty of fish prey to eat lays to your right. Why not stop for some hunting while you make it to Storm Mountain hunting grounds?

This is a short and poignant review of the life of Little Crow and the Dakota nation. It is also a sad commentary on our history of broken treaties.

As a resident of both of the areas Little Crow lived in I found it interesting. The history has not been told from the native perspective and is long overdue.
