Overview

Once he was known as the angel Remiel, but generations ago Boston PI Remy Chandler chose to renounce Heaven and live on Earth, where he found a secure place among us ordinary humans…

Though he may appear human, Remy has always been able to rely on Remiel—the embodiment of his angelic nature—whenever the situation called for it. But now his human and angelic natures are sharing the same space, and Remy can feel himself becoming more and more volatile, no matter how hard he tries to control it.

Then Ashlie Berg, a young woman who is like a daughter to him, vanishes without a trace. Dropping everything, Remy plunges into a frantic search for her, hoping all the while that her disappearance has nothing to do with him—or what he is.

But his hope is short-lived. A once-formidable sorcerer has taken her. The man wants vengeance against those he believes wronged him—and Remy will be the instrument of his wrath, or Ashlie will most certainly die…

"Sniegoski ups his game in this most recent Remy adventure, and we begin to see some of the grand scheme he is setting up for us. The conflict and situations within this novel are refreshingly personal, bringing the forefront of activity back to the Boston area. The characters are varied and very well-developed, bringing life and humanity into this novel largely centered around the angelic pantheon. With In the House of the Wicked, Sniegoski has crafted a very powerful, very personal tale that is equal parts gut-wrenching, heart-warming, and awe-inspiring."—The Ranting Dragon

Boston PI Remy Chandler's true identity is the seraphim Remiel, an angel who has chosen to live among humans. When Ashlie Berg, a young woman who has become like a daughter to him, is kidnapped by a powerful sorcerer, the angel willingly walks into the sorcerer's lair. But Remy finds that he has become embroiled in the machinations of a cabal of sorcerers whose greed for power may cost the lives of millions. Sniegoski's fifth installment (after Where Angels Fear To Tread) of his hard-boiled supernatural series brings the conflict between Heaven and Hell to a new level, as the stage is set for a cosmic war. VERDICT Remy and his human friends are engagingly believable characters in a series noted for flashes of humor despite its overall serious tone. Series fans and followers of Jim Butcher's "Dresden Files" titles should enjoy this urban fantasy.

Love this author's work and this whole series. Great use of language, not wordy, great plots and resolution.

I really liked the latest installment of the Remy Chandler series. I like how the author created the contrast with the Grigori. It was much better developed in this plot. Really worth the read! I hope there will be another soon! Really love the interplay with Marlowe and Remy and I really liked how Mulvehill adapted to the circumstances.
