Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
This catalog was prepared in connection with the ``Dada and Surrealism in Chicago Collections'' exhibition held at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The catalog itself is quite good and has some very handsome color plates. What is amazing is the breadth of the collections; all the major artists are well represented by important works. The essays, from a seminar held at the time of the exhibit, are in no way a comprehensive view of Dada and Surrealism; each deals with a rather specific issue. The essays on photography and Magritte are especially informative, but all are interesting and provocative. Because of the somewhat limited focus of this book, it is recommended for specialists or students of modern art. Patricia Scott, Comparative Arts Dept., Ohio Univ., Chillicothe
