Overview

Love small town contemporary romance with an unforgettable cast of characters? Each book in the Due South series contains a sizzling, sexy love story set on an unspoilt, wild island in New Zealand.
Meet Piper and West...
She vowed never to return.
To save her brother from financial ruin, Piper Harland must do the one thing she swore she'd never do-return to the tiny island hometown where Ryan "West" Westlake crushed her heart. Piper is tough, resilient and a little wild-much like the remote and beautiful Stewart Island where she grew up. As a cop who's part of the elite New Zealand Police National Dive Squad, bringing the dead back to their families still doesn't stop the guilt she feels over her father's drowning death. Now nine years later she's obligated to return to a hostile community as the outsider, and forced to work with the man who was once her best friend and first lover.
She's a risk he can't take.
West is an Island man, through and through. As owner of the local pub, he lives and breathes the local community, and sure as hell can't imagine living anywhere else. But most of all he refuses to ever fall for a woman like his flighty mother. He lost Piper once to give her the chance to fulfil her dreams of becoming a cop. But now she's back for an unexpected six week visit to help her brother-his best mate. Maybe West wants her a little bit, maybe he can't resist the temptation to tease and touch her, but can he fall in love with such a flight risk?

Saying goodbye for the second time might just destroy them both.

I only made it half thru - and when I pay for a book I always try and finish. Not sure where this went wrong - it started off great and story line was good, but it just fizzled, boring reading. Lots of thoughts of semi-graphic sex, too much. I'm sure Piper & West finally get together, I wont be reading about it. Darn, i'd like ro know about several other characters! They arn't intimate, just nice, stong people.

I rarily write reviews but I thought it important to let you know what a gem this series is. I read alot of free romance books and sometimes pay for the follow ups. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am now reading book 3. Smart writing, interesting characters and just enough "heat" without being smutty. Highly recommend them

I am enjoying this series very much... Piper and West are an interesting couple and their story has just enough of everything to make it a "keep reading" book... Piper could not save her father in a diving accident and as a result left her home and family and became a police rescue diver away from home.. When her brother was injured she returned home to help with his diving, shark cage diving business and becomes involved with West for the second time.. He let her go at age 18 but isn't going to let her go again... It has some real kooky moments on the way to HEA and I recommend these books highly... Fun reads with lots of twists and turns...

A fantastic start to a lovely series. This is the first book of the Due South series and is an amazing start to what I am sure will be a fantastic series. Piper is summoned back to Oban to help with a family crisis – she heads back with dread knowing she would rather face gang members and drug addicts high on meth than set foot on Oban and face her past. The past of her father’s death on the island, which has left her with PTSD that she does not acknowledge and buries as deep as possible, the past of abandoning her family when tragedy hit and they needed her most and the possibility of facing Ryan ‘West’ Westlake who is not only her past but still holds her heart – a fact she won’t even admit to herself. She is a Police Diver, who hilariously also suffers from seasickness, she uses her sarcasm, quick wit and cutting remarks as a defence to keep everyone at arms length. She is defensive, prickly, insecure but fiercely loyal to those she loves, not hesitating to wade in before she thinks. West is still convinced he did the right thing by pushing Piper away nine years ago to live out her dreams, he has even managed to convinced himself that this was the best thing for him too as she would have left in the longterm anyway. It is not until Piper returns that he realises he is living a half life. Look out when they come together as fireworks are guaranteed, there are plenty of sparks when they reconnect and verbally ‘spar’, sizing each other up and both trying to convince themselves that there is nothing between them, these sparks become a raging inferno when they finally give in, with plenty of hot, dirty sex. Can either of them admit their feelings to themselves and each other before it os too late or are they doomed to make the same mistakes they made nine years earlier and live with their fears rather than the love they could have? There are plenty of tears and emotion to go with the hot sex, we get to meet some fantastic ‘support’ characters who will get their books later in the series....Ben, Shay, Kezia, Holly, Erin, Ford and many more. We also get to meet some lovely quirky characters such as Mrs Taylor, Glenna and Bill who as the older generation take great pleasure in interfering and lighten the book with their antics and fun – I am sure we will see more of these as the series continues too. This was a fantastic book and I will certainly be reading the rest of the series, at present this book is a free download on Nook which makes it a complete gift!

I tried to hang in there until it would get interesting. Made it to page 97. NOTHING of interest has happened in the first 97 pages. The characters are inmature in that all they do is bicker. The sexual tension is agitating rather than titillating. They spend 97 pages argueing like 8 year olds in love. They argue about absolutly everything. They are so stupid, no way normal grown adults act this way and it just goes on and on and on the argueing. The story line so far is very unrealistic and not in an over the top, fun fantasy kind of way, more like a boring who in the world would ever believe this nonsense? This book is just so ridiculously horrible I am angry with myself for wasting my time reading it.

Loved the book. The writing is good and professional. I didn't catch any typos. The story was so good and the characters were likeable. I enjoyed the setting of a small island in new zealand. It was immersive and everything fit well together.

This isn't the typical romance novel with the same type of story you read in every other book. The story line was new and intriguing. Loved it! I recommend this for anyone looking for a good read!

This book was an easy read. Great for the beach. However, I would have liked to seen more story lines with the other characters.
