I loved the inventive storyline, the lush descriptions and the way Victorian England came alive for me. Lucy is a wonderful character with all of her vulnerabilities and questions and I loved her slow romance with Marco. The steampunk elements are light, there's a nice sense of danger and suspense and a little bit of gore to set the mood. I thoroughly enjoyed this and if there's a sequel, I'll be there. What I enjoyed most about this story is the great plot. I loved how it moved with the reader, allowing me to take everything in. From the scenery, to the people, to lost memories waiting to surface. Each chapter the reader follows Lucy who is determine to find out the truth. I like that is tougher than ever, kicking butt and asking questions later. The interesting aspect of getting to see her interact with Bram Stoker, is so cool!
The love interest definitely creep up on me. While Lucy was done looking for love, seeing it come upon her in a time like this in her life is good. She need those small moments of peace and security. So much was taken away from her. To have this, it almost made her human again. And then there is the ending. I think it ended on the note that you know that this story is far from over. I'm hoping and crossing my fingers that there will be more.
Another interesting aspect is the connection to King Author and The Knights of the Round Table. I'm loving how well the author let everything flow easily with the back round history. Once I got the bigger picture to the story, I just knew I was in for a ride of my life.
Other the ending being so bittersweet, I really loved this story. Incarnation brings back a time and place that any reader wants to be in. A smart yet tough romance, Incarnation is great!

Lucy has been made a vampire and abandoned. She has a faint recollection of her maker, but knows nothing else about him. Discovering that the story in ‘Dracula’, is a fictionalised version of what happened to her, she sets about finding the author and demanding to know where her maker is.
Getting almost nothing from Bram Stoker, other than that her maker was not a foreigner, Lucy sets about exploring London, hoping to find someone who knows where he is. What she doesn’t expect is to find more vampires, and a problem that is about to start a war between vampires and humans.
Who is Lucy’s maker? Why did he desert her? And what will it take to stop the war that is about to break out?
I found this story quite confusing. The book just didn’t grab me right from the beginning, and whether that was part of the reason that I kept getting lost as to what was going on I don’t know. There were a lot of different names flying around, and I didn’t quite get what was going on with regards Lucy’s maker either, so I got pretty lost.
As for the Dracula storyline, I haven’t read Dracula so I’m not sure if was missing things because of that? Not sure. There was also something in the storyline about vampires and King Arthur? Haven’t read that either though.
Overall; just couldn’t get into this one, I found it confusing, and the story just didn’t hold my attention.

Underground, confused, with little memory and being compelled by a strange song, Lucy Breaks free of her coffin. She quickly discovers that she thirst for blood but is repulsed by the thought. Rushing to her family’s country home, a place she remembers from her past, Lucy discovers a manuscript written by Bram Stoker in her father’s abandon study.
Although Stoker’s manuscript is a fanciful tale it gives many details of Lucy’s circumstances. Realizing Stoker might hold the key to unlocking the secrets to her past and her lack of memory, Lucy heads out for London.
She is quickly enveloped in a brewing war where vampires and humans vive for power. Can she discover why she has been dragged into this world in time to save it? Will she loose her humanity along the way?
Although this book is classed as steampunk, I found it not the norm...there is not a lot of gadgetries and gismos in this story line. That being said, I LOVED this book. I was instantly drawn in by the mystery surrounding Lucy’s transformation and captivated by her resourcefulness. Action, adventure, historical, romance, vampires, werewolves and humans with super abilities blended to make Incarnation a superb reading experience. When Incarnation ended, I was left wanting more. I am adding Incarnation to my favorite shelf and I will be following Emma Cornwall's works. 5 Stars (FAVORITE)
