The Inclusion Breakthrough explains how to make diversity a central and profitable part of an organization's strategy for long-term success rather than merely a peripheral program. The authors present proven strategies for stimulating the creativity and productivity of any business's greatest resource — its people. Benefits to companies that have implemented these inclusion strategies are also described.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Today's organizations can boost their success by building workplace cultures that draw on the strengths of a diverse workforce, say consultants Frederick A. Miller and Judith H. Katz. In their new book, The Inclusion Breakthrough: Unleashing the Real Power of Diversity, the authors say "diversity in a box" (smothering diversity) has prevented many organizations from achieving true success. "Capitalizing on diversity requires more than simply hiring a diverse workforce," they say. "Radical changes are needed also in both the structure and culture of most organizations." With diagrams, tables and specific tips, Miller and Katz put in plain words how to make these changes. (July) Copyright 2002 Cahners Business Information.
Written by leaders of one of the largest consulting firms specializing in diversity, this book makes the case that leveraging the diversity of the workforce and creating an inclusive culture are essential components of a high-performing organization in the 21st century. The coauthors explain why leveraging diversity is essential and describe models for diagnosing, planning, and implementing inclusion-focused culture change strategies. Miller is president and CEO, and Katz is executive vice president, of a consulting firm. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (

Very Practical and A Wealth of Information!!!

I work for a large business that is struggling with how to work with the community we live in and move beyond simple philanthropy- The Inclusion Breakthrough clearly explains why it is important to form a partnership between the business and the community, and how it is not just a one-way street. This book gave me great ideas that I can bring back to my organization and my community.

    Highly recommended for Business Leaders

This book explains why it's more effective to have a whole strategy around diversity than to just have a variety of diversity programs. It even maps out a plan to connect this strategy to the real work of the company. It's like a roadmap to better business! The best part of the book is where it gives a long list of 'competencies' that company leaders need to develop to better take advantage (in a good way) of its diversity.
