    Tested Again

Paula has attained another peak with her book, Indemnity, the second in her Covenant of Trust Series. In Contingency, Chuck Molinsky has committed adultery with Tracy Ravenna, with the subsequent fallout of Chuck and Bobbi’s marriage and roller-coaster ride of emotional upheavals that befell the whole family, hitting Bobbi the hardest. Trust almost became an obscene word to Bobbi, let alone forgiveness of her husband.

Seven years have passed when Tracy and her son, Jackson Charles Ravenna, arrive back in town. The bombshell explodes as Bobbi finds out about Chuck’s son from his adulterous affair when she finds Tracy has enrolled Jack in her first grade class. Emotional upheavals plow through Bobbi’s mind and heart, uprooting their family system with the news of a half-brother. Trust in her husband’s fidelity, attraction to Tracy, and honesty is revisited, while she wonders if Tracy’s manipulations and Jack’s appearance will destroy their marriage. Chuck filing for joint custody is an unconscionable act in Bobbi’s mind. Will Bobbi be able to trust and forgive once again?

What makes Paula’s book so pertinent and relevant is the absolute reality and pain of the circumstances, emotions, interventions, resolutions, and family reactions. You are pulled into the family dynamics once again. It’s intimate and personal. You hurt when they hurt. The fact that Paula has Bobbi trusting in Chuck’s re-commitment to the Lord and his marriage through their months of Godly counseling shows the strength of hope, faith and forgiveness in a very personal and meaningful way. Prayer is an integral part of the story, as should be in a Christian marriage.

An added dimension of tragedy in Tracy’s life is added to the story, which tugs on your heartstrings even deeper. Paula weaves this suspense throughout the story, keeping you on edge. The shocking end brings tears to your eyes.

I am thoroughly grateful for the way that Paula shows how God can work out any circumstance if we commit everything to prayer and trust in Him. It’s what gives me hope.

If you’ve read Contingency, be sure to pick up Indemnity. It will bless your heart in ways you wouldn’t expect. I would highly suggest you read Contingency first.

This book was provided by Paula Wiseman in exchange for my honest review. No monetary compensation was exchanged.

    more from this reviewer

This is a strong book on Family, Faith, Hope and Love.

Indemnity by Paula Wiseman is book #2 in her Covenant of Trust series. Seven years after Bobbie forgave her husband, Chuck, for his affair with Tracy Ravenna, she thought everything was behind them. That is until the new school year began and Jackson Charles Ravenna is assigned to her class; Bobbie realizes he is not only Tracy's son but possibly Chuck's as well.

When Chuck decides to pursue joint custody of the boy, Bobbie fights him as once again their marriage is tested. Not only did Tracy hide the fact that she had a son and that Chuck was the father, but she also hid her past. As Chuck strives to do the right thing, Bobbie struggles with the hate that is festering inside her and the power and faith to forgive as God works with her.

This is a very deeply written and touching novel, a book that digs to the very core of one's life and the heart and soul of one's struggles. It shows that one has to learn to lean unto the Lord and not unto his own understanding. When we learn to let go and let God the situation can change mightily. This is a strong book on Family, Faith, Hope and Love. However, one needs to read the first book in the series, Contingency, to have a better understanding of what Bobbie is going through in this book.

A True Story of the power of God's redemption and forgiveness!

Indemnity (in-dem-ni-tee) Noun; 1. protection or security against damage or loss; 2. compensation for damage or loss sustained; 3. something paid by way of such compensation; 4. protection, as by insurance, from liabilities or penalties incurred by one's actions; 5.legal exemption from penalties attaching to unconstitutional or illegal actions, granted to public officers and other persons.

Sometimes in life it takes a life altering event to change things and allow us to see things differently. Often times we are the ones who get in our own way of seeing God's plan.

Bobbi has spent the last 7 years dealing with the affects of Chuck's affair with his co-worker, Tracy Ravenna. This time has been spent in counseling, and learning how to rebuild the trust within their marriage. Now that Tracy is no longer working at the law firm and has dropped her harrassment lawsuit against him and the firm, their marriage seems to be on the mend.

That is until 3 weeks before the beginning of the school semester, Bobbi notices a name on her first grade roster, Jackson Charles Ravenna. Pure coincidence or has her pain come back to haunt her once again. She learns the mother's name is Tracy Ravenna and believes that once more Chuck is keeping secrets from her and confronts him after work. Chuck is just as shocked as Bobbi is and demands to know if Jack is really his son, a product of his affair with Tracy. He also wants to know why she has been keeping it from him for 6 years and why now, she is back in their lives again.

For Bobbi, it has brought back all those feelings of betrayal, distrust and anger in having once more to deal with Tracy and Chuck's affair. This time with a child in the middle, she isn't sure she is capable of dealing with it again or if her marriage can weather this storm.

In the sequel to Contingency by Paula Wiseman, we are introduced to Indemnity, the second book in the Covenant of Trust Series. Paula once more puts your emotions through the ringer in how Bobbi is forced to confront some of her deepest fears and pain again. I found myself siding with her so many times and often wondered just how heartless and clueless Chuck could be in this situation. In the end, we see the perfect example of just how forgiveness works and what the true purpose is in dealing with the really hard issues we have to face.

I received this book compliments of Pump Up Your Book Tours and Paula Wiseman for my honest review. Since reading the first book and knowing there would be a sequel, I was once more torn with how this family would deal with a child being born in the midst of trying to heal their broken marriage from an affair. This one really hit home in so many areas for me. Paula writes so well, you immediately feel connected to all of the characters, from Bobbi's insecurities, to Jackson's desperate need for a family. It all works once again and rates a stellar 5 out of 5 stars!!! Now I wait in anticipation to the last book in the series to roll out. Throughout all the books I've read it really does show you how God can use the absolute worst circumstances in our life, to bring about His will, His glory and His good for us in this life.

    Read about Forgiveness and Grace

Infidelity and temptation aren't problems solely for the unsaved. This novel picks up after the restoration of a marriage that had dealt with these issues and sought out the help they needed to restore. I did not read book one in the series, Indemnity is the second book in the Covenant of Trust series, but was able to get the gist of what happened in book one. I do recommend reading the first one though to give you better than a 'gist'! Chuck and Bobbi have moved on and found comfort again in each other and God when Chuck's sin is thrown back at them once again. The 'other woman' Tracy shows up in town with a 1st grader that resembles Chuck! Talk about being thrown back under the bus. I felt so sad for Bobbi who sees this child Jack.
Lessons learned in the past in the positive are back in place as Chuck and Bobbi have friends come and counsel then, pray with them and give words of wisdom. I loved how they had such a network of help, but is seemed out of place to me not having read the first book. I thought it was strange to have Bobbi's mother in law come and pray along with Bobbi's sister, and a group of friends. I don't know that many people have that network of love and support. Throughout the book though I felt that Chuck and Bobbi were certainly blessed by that community of Christians.
There is so much depth to this story, and forgiveness with the aid of Christ. Love can conquer even those things we think will end the relationship. I loved reading the second one in the series I can't wait to see what the third holds. This is a great contemporary series to read to see God's grace modeled and how it can impact the lives of so many.
I received a copy of this book from Pump Up your book in exchange for an honest review
