Overview

Independent filmmakers by nature are creative individuals whose primary tools are their imaginations and ingenuity. They are cinematic storytellers. While some independent films take the film festivals by storm -- distribution deals, sales to video outlets and cable television -- others fall short. Luck and timing play roles in most success stories, but many independent filmmakers have taken the next step: They have carved out a clear-cut plan of action -- a business plan -- for their projects and careers, analyzing them for what they truly are: businesses. This work helps to connect the creative process and the business side of independent filmmaking by providing a practical guide for assembling a business plan that filmmakers can present to producers and potential investors. A sample business plan and interviews with independent filmmakers and industry executives are included.

    New York Filmmaker

I just finished reading most of this book and think it is one of the best ones out there. It is more personal to independent filmmakers than the rest, and stays at the independent filmmaker level with the information, and the interviews. I emailed the author on several occasions with specific questions to my projects, and he readily replied. Get this book if you're serious about making an indie film with some financing in place. Whether you're looking for $5,000 or $5 million, this book will help you get going.

    Great Information

Great information throughout. The insight is top shelf and the writer definitely knows his stuff. I was in the dark before about approaching investors. Now I feel more confident after having read this book. I know what the investor is thinking. I know what I must do now to get his attention. Excellent interviews with indie filmmakers and the like, too, in the final chapter. I'm using the sample business plan as a template for my own material.

    Knowledge is Power!

I think you're going to see this book around for a long time as it becomes a must-read and foundation for all independent filmmakers looking to expand their horizons. Campisi tells it like it is from the trenches. An easy read! Not full of techno-jargon. Thank you for writing this book!

    Excellent for the Independent Filmmaker!

Gabriel Campisi has written a hands down winner on the does and dont's of writing a business plan for film projects. A must have for every filmmaker and script writer that wants to get funding. Great insight on the movie business in general. 5 Stars....
