Meet the Author

Pushpesh Pant was born in Nainital, northen India, and is now a professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. A regular recipe columnist and author of many cookbooks in India, he has spent two decades collecting authentic family recipes from all over the subcontinent, which have been carefully edited, tested and collated to produce a remarkable collection documenting the rich diversity of Indian cuisine.

    One of the best Indian cookbooks

    If you are ready to take your cooking knowlwdge to the next level, or next country, this book is for you. It has over 1000 recipies from appetizers, vegetables, meats, breads, desserts, and more. This book is not for the beginner as the recipies are not explained in detail. It requires a cook who has been cooking moderately complicated recipies for five or more years and is comfortable with many spices and has knowledge of substituting flavors. The book is actually not heavy as the pages are printed on some kind of lightweight paper, almost like construction paper. The book is hardcover, but that too is lightweight. it has two built in place-holders (strings) that are different colors. It has an index that allows you to find recipies by name or ingredient (e.g., samosas or potato). An overall excellent book and it is perfect for vegans, vegetarians, and lovers of Indian food.

    If you are addicted to your local Indian restaurant- Check This Out!

    Saw this in my store before Christmas, looked through it, and decided I had to have it. Online its 40% off!! Got it yesterday and it is truly amazing. I have probably 10 smaller Indian cookbooks, but this one is truly comprehensive including both Northern & Southern Indian dishes. My kitchen my smell, but my tummy is full ;-)
