Meet the Author

Eric C. Bartholomew is a man of many talents, many lives, and a mischievous sense of humour. Born in the East End of London to a father of Romany descent, itchy feet were inevitable: he has travelled extensively, lived in India for several years and can never stand still for long. Although dyslexic, he has written throughout his life, but it was only when he turned sixty that he channelled that talent into his evocative post-war memoir, Angels and Dirty Faces. This was swiftly followed by Indiana Bones, a riveting travelogue documenting his time in India, Distant Horizons, a novel, and its sequel, Dark Horizons, both inspired by ‘faraway places with strange sounding names’.Eric’s writings are leavened with gentle humour, keen insight into other cultures, and a healthy appreciation of the diversity of the human race.He has been blissfully married to Mary, his mainstay and fellow adventurer, for over forty years. When not engaged in globe-trotting, Eric is to be found either delivering hugely popular lectures on his travels to schools and other groups or with Mary, at his home in Kent, plotting the next great escape.
