Barnes & Noble - David Sprague
There's something to be said for swinging for the fences. Even when the result is something less than a grand-slam home run, the sheer effort is something to behold -- as is the case with the sophomore set from this L.A.-based quartet. On their debut, the Exies bashed out intermittently engaging, high-energy hard rock, a vein that they tap on some -- but far from all -- of Inertia's tunes. Instead, they swathe singer Scott Stevens' pensive vocals in lacy acoustic guitars (as on the slithery title track) or stuttering funk rhythms (on the '70s-styled "Lo-Fi"). The band even enlist a full string section to lend a sense of portent to "Creeper Kamikaze," a shadowy song ...

The band even enlist a full string section to lend a sense of portent to "Creeper Kamikaze," a shadowy song that details, and mimics, a slow descent into depression. The jams get kicked out now and again -- most notably on the blustery "My Goddess" and "Without" -- but the Exies, as Inertia's title indicates, no longer feel the need to turn the amp knobs to "eleven" just to get attention.
All Music Guide - MacKenzie Wilson
On their first release for Virgin, the Exies deliver a radio-friendly modern rock stance while fronting a post-grunge snarl on Inertia. It's a heavy record, layered guitar work sifting through glassy electronic beats, but it's also a hungry effort. Frontman/vocalist Scott Stephens blazes his way throughout Inertia; he's an energetic spitfire on "My Goddess," while the raw scratch of "Genius" grovels like Scott Weiland. "No Secrets" thrives on more of a blues-rock-inspired groove, but the Exies thirst for the power of a guitar. Overall, Inertia is a vibrant rock effort; however, it's a touch formulaic. "No Secrets" and the title track echo mid-'90s alternative rock à la Collective Soul, but who's to say it's not decent? The Exies are a young band. They have potential to shape a more original sound because of a nearly polished presentation; they've come a long way from their self-titled debut, but the work in progress continues.

    Inertia; a spectaculous c.d.

I think this record is great. It's one of those c.d.'s that I could listen to over and over again and never get board. My personal favorite track is "No Secrets". I think Exies are a great band, and the fact that this(their first) album is so good makes me so stoked to hear what they come up with next. and in the mean time hope this album has huge sells

    Rock is back

A good friend of mine dragged me to an Exies/SR-71 concert a few months ago, and I fell in love with their music! The album is a refreshing break from all of that punk-poppy stuff that's always playing....hard rock meets good songwriting....does it get any better?? If you like the album, you should check out their live act. They'll blow you away!!

    Rock On!

Remember that LA glam rock scene that gave us everything from Poison to Guns N Roses? You know... the one you thought died with the birth of grunge... Well it's back,BIG TIME! The Exies major label debute release proves that not all new rock bands are joining the pop-punk or rap-metal bandwagon. Take a listen to the first single 'My Goddess' and I guarantee it will rock your world. "Hey hey, my my, rock n roll can never die!"

    The Exies - Inertia

I gave this album a 4 because even though it is a good album it took me a bit to warm up to. I like how there is a mix of slower, soothing, and relaxing songs with the faster, fun, and energetic songs on this album. I really enjoyed the string orchestra on the tracks 'Genius, Irreversible, and Creeper Kamikaze.' My favorite song off of this album is "Irreversible." I like this song because it is soothing and it relaxes me. The vocals on the song are awesome and you can really hear the emotion that is being displayed. Their first single off of the album "My Goddess" is fun and fast paced. The video for "My Goddess" can be seen on Mtv2 on the "Artists 2 Watch" show. It can also be seen on other shows on Mtv2, but that is the one that sticks out in my mind the most. Overall I'd say that this is a very enjoyable album

    The Exies

This is CD rocks from the first song to the last. If you like "My Goddess" you definitly have to pick this up. If your not sure you should still give it a shot. Not a bad song on here. Best song is "Can't Relate."

    A Musical Journey

Inertia is an amazing musical journey. It will take you from the hard-rocking "My Goddess" & "Without", to a pop-rock Beatlesque "Can't Relate"; a funky "Lo-Fi" to a moody "Genius". The exies really stretched themselves with this CD. You can hear their musical influences, but they have a sound all their own.

    great debut

"Inertia" is a great debut album from The Exies. Their Southern California background can be heard throughout this modern-rock cd. From their first single "My Goddess", which is about questioning your existance, to the acclaimed "Lo-Fi and my personal favorite track "Kickout" - "Inertia" rocks out with catchy lyrics and guitar riffs. Overall, it's an energetic album that shows considerable promise in The Exies.

    Amazing New Release!

Finally - an amazing new rock band. No bubblegum music here - just powerful and exciting tracks. The drumming is phenomenal - one of the strongest elements of the CD. Lead singing is also great - soulful.
