Overview

The heat is on, and a new threat to humanity has risen . . .

Nick has his driver's license and he's not afraid to use it. But turning sixteen isn't what he thought it would be. While other boys his age are worried about prom dates and applying for college, Nick is neck deep in enemies out to stop him from living another day. No longer sure if he can trust anyone, his only ally seems to be the one person he's been told will ultimately kill him.

But life spent serving the undead is anything except ordinary. And those out to get him have summoned an ancient force so powerful even the gods fear it. As Nick learns to command and control the elements, the one he must master in order to combat his latest foe is the one most likely to destroy him. As the old proverb goes, fire knows nothing of mercy, and if Nick is to survive this latest round, he will have to sacrifice a part of himself. However, the best sacrifice is seldom the sanest move. Sometimes it's the one that leaves your enemies confused.

And sometimes, you have to trust your enemy to save your friends. But what do you do when that enemy is you?

Inferno is the fourth book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Chronicles of Nick.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

Nick Gautier has just turned sixteen, but unlike his classmates, this sarcastic teenager doesn't spend much time thinking about prom dates or intramural sports. As the son of the Malachai, he must live out a destiny in which he will either destroy the world or save it. Surrounded by savage enemies and enigmatic friends, he attempts to live out his fate or at least survive until tomorrow.

From the Publisher
“Jumping from male, female, American, and foreign humans and nonhumans, the undead, and animals, Grahm gives each one a distinct voice and personality while keeping the complicated plot sorted out and racing ahead. The combination of Kenyon’s skilled writing and Graham’s spot-on performance makes the story easy to follow.” – AudioFile Magazine

First off Kenyon is my absolute favorite author! True this book

First off Kenyon is my absolute favorite author! True this book had a lot of lecturing about Nick finding himself and gaining self confidence but it was still a great read. I know alot of people have not liked the ending where Nick wakes up at a Prom and everyone is normal including himself and at first I was puzzled too. But just before he fell a sleep, a voice whispered be careful what you wish for.... Nick wished to be a normal guy. About a page and a half before the voice, Zavid asked him why he saved him and what did he want from it. He told Zavid that he wanted to be a normal guy. The epilogue is him waking up to a normal life just like he wished for. Yes it was a strange ending and no I wasn't thrilled to have it end like that without more detail but I have read Kenyon for a long time and she always resolves these issues. I can't hardly wait until the next book in this series. As an avid DH fan, I already see the DH world coming through in these YA books.

    Very disappointed!

I am very upset that I ordered this book and paid for it and can't read it on my Nook!! Why have it available to preorder if you can't read it on your Nook?? I have read all of this authors books and was patiently waiting for this one that was next in the series and it was supposed to be available March 19th and yet it is not available to read! I hope it is going to available or I want my money back!

The book was good, but I felt like the author was holding back. It just didn't seem as good a book as the ones before it. She did talk about Nick's feeling more (which I can relate too), but I had already thought that Nick had most of that figured out. After reading the whole series, I hope that book #5 will talk more on Kody's past and involve her more. I did like the ending though as a twist is always great to see, but it felt abruptly halted at the end.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olso

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:

This series is like chocolate - even though I know I shouldn't, one page, one chapter, is never enough - I can't stop until the entire book is
gone & I feel guilty for not doing the things I should, yet utterly sated & happy for having indulged.:)

Every book of this series gets better & more intense. This may have been my favorite yet... Nick explores what happens when he leans
more towards the darker side of his nature in this installment and it's not pretty - loved ones are put at risk (yet again), he gets in a huge
bind (what's new, right!?), demons are possessing people close to him, Death (a.k.a Grim) is manipulating things to go his way and
working with some other unsavory folk, love is tenuous at best, some huge revelations are made about several big players, and Nick's
world is turned upside down. And then there was the epilogue... just wow!  I cannot wait to see where Sherrilyn goes with this. I did not
see that coming and am dying to see how it plays out.

In a word:  Utterly fantastic!!  An easy 5 Skull read for me and I think that everyone should read these books. They may be classified as
Young Adult, but they read like a gritty Urban Fantasy and are must reads for all Dark-Hunter fans.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is a brilliant writer.  However, Barnes and Noble I would not classify her books in the teen section.  These books have lot of  adult  situations that are not for teens.

    LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

I have read all of Ms. Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, so I was excited that she was going to tell Nick's story (even though it is a young adult series). With a talent only Ms. Kenyon could muster, she has told his story amazingly!!

I love the hotness of her adult series, and this is soooo mild in comparison; however, that being said, her storytelling is what I love most. I was sooo heartbroken when Nick's mom died in the Dark Hunter series, and I love that she is trying to go back and change that story line here in this series.

This has been a great series, and yet again has left me with a cliffhanger to wait till the next story is told. AAAHHHHHH!!!!!!! Please don't wait too long for the next installment. I guess now I just have to wait for STYXX (the next Dark Hunter book). Keep them coming Ms. Kenyon -- love them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You must understand, I AM A HUGE SHERRILYN KENYON FAN! I read every Dark Hunter book and most of her other books so when she came out with this young adult off shoot of the Dark Hunters, I sucked them right up. I read this book totally for me, I wanted it, I bought it and now I’m going to tell you why I loved it.

    1) ½ Evil Demon or not, Nick is just an all around awesome guy. Yes, he’s conflicted but what teenager isn’t without having a demon threat over their heads.

    2) Ash, yup he’s here in all his yumminess!

    3) Simi – I think she should get her own series, how can you not love a 11,000+ year old demon child and Goth chick fashionista.

    4) Nick’s mom – who wouldn’t want the over protective, crazy obsessive, I’d do anything for my child mom. She shows complete and udder devotion and love for her son. This is a spoiler for those of you that didn’t read Dark Hunter (view spoiler).

    5) This series has every kind of supernatural including but not limited to gods, goddesses, demons, shifters, voodoo priestesses, crazy radical humans and so much more. It is a complete thrill for any paranormal enthusiast.

Ok, Ok, I could keep going, but I’m going to stop there. If you want to read an incredible young adult, male perspective, paranormal adventure, check out this fabulous book written by this incredibly talented author Sherrilyn Kenyon. And yes, I do have to check every time I spell her name – I apparently can’t handle the slightly original spelling.

What an ending! Leaving us out there wanting more.

    Kenyon

I love Kenyon's books. They are all good reads. I cant wait for the next book. It will be neat to find out how she ties the Nick books with the DH series Nick.

    Crazy Ending

As always, a good read. Some parts were a bit redundant. The ending just just leaves you saying " what the heck." Hopefully it won't be too long before the next book comes out

    While Super Awesome................

This book was a wonderful read, but the end was weird. So suddenly Nick just happen to be a short blond with no powers or powerful allies? Huh? CONFUSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention super plot twist . Though I am happy that Nick has finally become the full Malachai and is not evil like at all. I also love the times Nick goes out of control his powers nd stuff. Casey was creepy. And Kody and Nick never felt much remorse about the break up
