With the juxtaposition of Salvador Dali’s abstract surrealism, and the technical styling of visual futurist Syd Mead, Shake J’s illustrative approach is an impressionistic Rorschach test, a spark in the eyes of the audience that sets the mind’s eye ablaze. Equally comfortable employing the rational systematic process minded analytical thinking of an engineer, as he is at delving into the irrational, more visceral observation employed by artists, led him to pursue and obtain a degree in industrial design at North Carolina State University. His past work includes pre-visualization animation, mechanical ideation specialist for a toy design and illustration.
Shake has expanded into conceptual design, writing and consults as a corporate new product development strategist, as well as producing a range of cross-media properties in collaboration with other creators. Ever the creative provocateur, Shake can often be found with peers in the creative community talking contemporary art, business, and asymmetrical strategy, making liberal usage of parables spun from feudal samurai lore.
