Overview

Federal Agent Robert Mazur spent five years undercover as a money launderer to the international underworld, gaining access to the zenith of a criminal hierarchy safeguarded by a circle of dirty bankers and businessmen who quietly shape power across the globe. These men and women control multibillion-dollar drug-trafficking empires, running their organizations like public companies. Accountants, attorneys, and financial advisors, their roots run deep in their communities, and they are laundering billions of dollars a year, manipulating complex international finance systems to serve drug lords, corrupt politicians, tax cheats, and terrorists. In 1987, Mazur began infiltrating BCCI, bankers behind the Medellín cartel. He meticulously gathered evidence for years until, during a fake wedding, federal agents arrested over 40 high-ranking criminals, who were all found guilty and sent to prison. Never before told, this is the incredible, true story of how he did it.

    What a great read!

I was raised in a law enforcement household and yet had no clue as to the scope of the drug trade or money laundering business. Still not that clear on the whole money laundering thing, there are so many people and so much money changing hands and so many dirty bankers that it must have taken a long time to have become that familiar with the inner workings of the cartel.
Not a book I would have been drawn to and only read it initially because my father is a friend of Mr Mazur's, but I sure did enjoy it and hope he writes another one about his adventures in Panama. Anyone that reads this book will really enjoy his writing style and the humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am sorry that I'm done with it (my housework, daughters and husband have been neglected long enough.)

    inCREDIBLE!

quick review. the story of an undercover agent who took down money launderers who supported drug cartels to the tune of trillions of dollars. insane. it is also very well written. i dont think i slept for the 5 days i read this. it was just there in the bookstore with the new non fic books. i dont know how i came to pick it up but i'm glad i did. in honesty, it leaves me appalled that governments (including ours)could be so irresponsible... in my estimation, as culpable as those who carry out these dastardly deeds. go get it!

This guy is the real deal.

Having worked with the author on an actual criminal case, I can report that he has one of the finest investigative minds I have encountered in 30 years as a criminal defense attorney. Bob Mazur is the real deal. After working with him first hand, seeing him in action and knowing of the incredible investigation he spearheaded, I bought the book before the ink dried.

    The Infiltrator

Amazing....Thank God that there are still true American heroes like Robert Mazur and his family. A cold reminder of what is really going on around the globe that threatens our basic freedoms by those who have no conscience, morals, or respect of human life, other than their own.
    Truely a "need to read."

    A Terrific Book

The author grabs you at the beginning and doesn't let go. He was a US Customs Special Agent who went undercover in an attempt to get inside the world of drugs and money laundering. You are with him as he develops his undercover identity, as he sets up his support system, and as he gets inside the top level drug cartels and the world money men. He does a great job of educating the reader about the inside mechanics of that world and shares the details of how he took them down. It is really a great story and tremendously interesting.

I am so excited to have found this book by pure luck. Twenty-six

I am so excited to have found this book by pure luck. Twenty-six years ago I worked for the Criminal Investigation Branch of the IRS and was asked if I wanted to go to Tampa, FL. for six-weeks with another co-worker of mine to work with US Customs on an undercover operation.  Of course we would go.  We were in our late 20's and was not going to turn down a chase to go to Florida for a six week all paid trip.  After arrival in Tampa on Sat., checking into a beautiful condo reserved by the IRS, we relaxed the rest of the day and on Monday drove to Lois Ave. and entered the Exchange Bank bldg. in downtown Tampa. where we met  with a US Customs agent who explained that we  would be inputting all the evidence that had and is being collected on a undercover operation called C-Chase.  After being filled in on what the operation was about  my co-worker and I were getting ready to embark on an adventure that was like watching a movie & we had been chosen to play a part in this movie.  This was the first time I heard the names,  Bob Mazur, Bob Musella & Kathy Erickson   Could this really be true?  Me, a small town, country-girl, working with undercover agents, money laundering, and drugs?  The big day.  The night of the bachelor party.  We were instructed that everyone would be working a double-shift so as to have enough there to handle and process what was about to take place.   I was there!  There when the elevator doors opened & Bob Mazur said "your all under arrest"  all the men laughed.  They all thought he was just joking.  But it was no joke.  October 6, 1988, was the first time we were introduced to Bob & Kathy.  Just a quick introduction & they were left alone.  We were invited to attend the news press conference & returned back to the office the next day to finish inputting much more confiscated evidence & after another week, are time in Tampa had come to an end.  This country girl was going back home.  I've not put this book down one time since it first arrived yesterday.  i
