"Maggie Shayne reinvents romance!"
~The Literary Times

By dark of night and shining moon, Arianna, shovels earth from the center of an ancient and crumbling stone circle in her Scottish homeland. Five centuries ago, she buried her new husband here when an Immortal High Witch, one of the Dark Ones, took his mighty heart. But now she's retrieved it. It beats, still, in the box where it has been imprisoned all this time. She intends to replace it, to bring him back to her. And that he died hating her, blaming her, is just something she'll worry about later.

"Maggie Shayne delivers romance with sweeping intensity and bewitching passion."
~NY Times Bestseller, Jayne Ann Krentz

This stunning sequel to ETERNITY takes us back to the 1500s in the Scottish Highland to tell the powerful love story of Arianna and Nicodimus, and its tragic end, then sweeps us into the present day, where that ending finds its chance to be re-written, but the evil that tore them apart lurks, waiting for a chance to destroy them both once and for all.

"One of the preeminent voices in paranormal romance."

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
The sequel to the successful Eternity follows Arianna Sinclair from the 20th century back to the 16th-century Scottish Highlands, where she realizes her powers as a witch. High warlock Nicodimus Lachlan arrives in the Highlands seeking peace and shelter from an enemy. There the immortal Nicodimus finds that Arianna, the golden child he has been observing for years, has turned into a beautiful and stubborn woman. They marry, but their honeymoon is disrupted when Nicodimus's enemy raids the village, killing everyone, including his wife. Now, having experienced her first death, Arianna discovers that she, too, is immortal, imprisoned by Nicodimus's enemy. Nicodimus rushes to Arianna's rescue but, misunderstanding her sly plan to rescue him, dies thinking she has betrayed him. Five hundred years later, Arianna is able to resurrect Nicodimus, only to find that he doesn't remember the love they once shared. Evil surrounds them again, but this time Arianna is determined to protect the man she loves, even at the risk of her immortal soul. Although skillfully written and action packed, this adventure does not live up to its more captivating predecessor. (Oct.) Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.
Library Journal
When Immortal High Witch Arianna's unintended betrayal causes the "death" of her equally immortal husband, she spends the next 500 years searching for the means to bring him back to true life; but her ultimate success rouses the dark forces and pits the pair against an ancient evil in a battle that--this time--they must win. Complex, mystical, and occasionally chillingly graphic, this mesmerizing tale skillfully blends a classic High Fantasy theme with a sensual, poignant romance and creates a story that is emotionally satisfying enough to appeal to fans of both the fantasy and romance subgenres. Shayne (Eternity) is a popular, best-selling writer of paranormal and fantasy romances. Copyright 1999 Cahners Business Information.

I didn't like this one as much as the first. I still like Arianna as a character and it was nice to get the back story on her. The story was predictable.

I liked this book but not as much as Eternity. It was a great book to read though. Worth the money you pay for a engaging story.

Arianna¿s character was outstanding. A story filled with love, betrayal, magic and determination that kept me up reading to the morning hours of the next day. The power of love between the two main characters is stronger then I could ever imagine. I felt the pain that the characters created for one another and the lusty moments they shared. If ever I were to wish for such a love it would be the kind that this book made me believe in.

A story of love reincarnated throughout the ages. A young girl hanged with her mother for witchcraft. Soul mates finding each other at the last moment. Centuries of love. Good overcoming evil. Eternal bliss? I have to read the next book in the series to find out.

Due to my latest great lockout, I am hanging up my writer's pen, at least on the Nook. I will still Roleplay and review stories, but I won't post anymore on here. If you want to read some of my works, find me on Wattpad by the name of Fritrz, and on AO3 as Haunted_Immortal.
To any writers, I leave this advice: If you really love a story you're writing, record it somewhere else as well.
~ H&#65430

I loved this trilogy. I loved it so much I was sad to see it end at book three and even considered writing the author to see if she would be adding additional stories to these books. It's not your typical "witch" book with spells and potions and brooms and voodoo. It's really about immortality and how they each got it and the dangers of having immortality and what challenges they face as dark witches peruse them so they can steal their immortality from them. Along the way we see incredible bonds forged and soul mates seeking to find each other over centuries and what they will do to keep and find their loved ones and help them restore their memories. The stories cover many centuries and different continents. They are rich with details of the different eras and the author does a wonderful job of drawing you in. I highly recommend the books which could be read backwards as she tells the stories in reverse.

I love this series. I used to watch "Highlander" on TV and this series reminds me of that show. Maggie has hit it out of the ballpark with this series!

I am an avid reader of many books, however, this one dragged on and on. The plot takes way to long and tedious to get to. Karen Moning's books intertwine the characters and you hate to leave them. These characters I could not relate to.
