Overview

Easy going soldier Kale Montgomery, a self-proclaimed ladies man, has no plans of settling down, especially not with his best friend- the sexy, sassy schoolteacher Lucy Dawson. Their relationship, though unconventional, is mutually beneficial, and they wouldn't have it any other way. Friends with benefits? Casual lovers? Whatever you want to call it, they’re having fun, in and out of bed, and to them, that’s all that matters. At least that’s what they think, but how long can you spend in someone's bed before you find they're also infiltrating your heart?

As their casual fling with no strings attached progresses, it's not long before they realize they're both in way over their heads. One fateful night changes their lives forever in ways they could never have imagined, giving them the push to finally admit that maybe, just maybe they want more than they’ve let on. Their mutual attraction rapidly intensifies as it shifts from burning lust to unrelenting want, need, and possibly even love. Suddenly the idea of settling down doesn't seem so bad. In fact, it sounds pretty damn perfect.

Just when things seem to be falling into place, past pain and renewed insecurities rise to the surface and threaten to smother the flames of their passionate relationship, reminding them both why they’ve always kept the idea of love at arm's length. Will Kale and Lucy realize that what they've been waiting for is each other, or will the blazing whirlwind of their feelings burn out too quickly, causing it to all go up in smoke?

Meet the Author

I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and have been married to my own book boyfriend for over seven years. We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.

If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.

This is book 3 in the Explosive series.
And although it does have the same characters in it from time to time
it can be read as a standalone.
I gave this book 5 stars.

I love this Author and this series.
She always keeps me captivated from beginning to end.
And this time was no exception.
I was living and breathing this book as fast as I could read it.

This is Kale and Lucy's story.

Kale and Lucy are best friends. They're also friends with benefits meaning they are not in a relationship. But that doesn't stop giving the heart what the heart wants. What will these two do when they realize that they're in much deeper then they realized they were? Will they give it a shot?

These two together were so amazing! They were meant for each other .. like one half of another half! The support that they have throughout the book with his family and their friends is amazing.

You get to see the other characters from the first two series as well to see what they are up to. I love series books like that. So you can keep up with the characters that you fall in love with even though their story is over.

Yet another hit straight out of the park for Tessa! I can't wait for the next book in the series. I hope it is Xavier's turn!!! Thank you Tessa for all that you do!!<3

This was another fantastic book from the Explosive series! I’ve read and reviewed this whole series and Tessa did not disappoint. The characters were funny and confident. The story was fun, steamy, and a little emotional.
Kale and Lucy first enter into a friends with benefits relationship and quickly become best friends. While Kale is deployed, they both start to realize they have feelings for each other. I absolutely loved both of these characters. Kale is sexy, funny, persistent, supportive, and sweet. Lucy is very confident in her sexuality, candid, and a great teacher. They both felt like real people and I was easily submerged in their world.
The story line pulled me in from the very beginning and I had no problems finishing the book in one evening. It was fun to also get to see the characters from the previous books and how they all interact. This was a wonderful book and I really enjoyed Kale and Lucy’s journey together. I highly recommend this book. 5 out of 5 stars!

I wasn't sure Tessa Teevan could top Knox Wellington (Incinerat

I wasn't sure Tessa Teevan could top Knox Wellington (Incinerate #2) but I think she did!  I fell in love with Kale Montgomery instantly!  Inflame had me smiling the entire time I was reading the book and I loved getting to know Lucy and Kale while getting to revisit Knox too.

Inflame isn't your typical "friends with benefits" story, Tessa Teevan took two people who were only wanting something fun and breathed emotion, laughter and heart-sighing moments into it, making it fresh and addicting!  I typically don't like stories that have some of the plot elements that Inflame had, but it worked well in this story line and was just what Lucy and Kale needed to shake them out of their comfort zones.   I am not going to spoil plot points, some of the magic in Tessa Teevan's writing is she always gives you the unexpected right when you weren't expecting it but crave it the most.

Inflame gave me goosebumps, had me laughing out loud, had my heart in my throat (a few times) and got me leaking a few tears.  Tessa Teevan writes a great story that not only gets you engaged and involved in the characters but has you so wrapped up you feel like you are reading about close friends.  Each of these Explosive books can be read as stand alone books, I read Incinerate first, then Inflame (poor Jace, I should go read his story too) and never once did I feel like I was missing anything vital to the current story.  However, having said that, it is nice to know the key players in the series and getting to re-visit them again in each book (maybe I still am crushing on Knox a wee bit).

Tessa Teevan won me over with Incinerate, but I think Inflame showed me that she can not only write great characters, but also tell a beautiful, witty and emotion tugging story that will leave your heart happy when you finish.  I can't wait to see what Tessa does next (a Wellington brother spin off is coming soon) and I REALLY hope we get to read Xavier's story and catch up on all the beloved characters from the Explosive series  (I can't let go of Kale and his corny jokes and loving protectiveness).

If you are looking for a book that is easy to fall into and get wrapped up in for an afternoon I HIGHLY recommend Inflame.  This book will have you laughing (or snorting), needing a fan and sighing over how wonderful Lucy and Kale fit together all in the first few chapters.

Tessa Teevan has done it again with the third book, Inflame, in

Tessa Teevan has done it again with the third book, Inflame, in the Explosive series! This oh so sweet and sexy read will grab you from the first page.

Solider Kale Montgomery meets school teacher, Lucy Dawson on the day he is fulfilling his godfather duties for 'Bring Your Daddy To Work Day'. They immediately hit it off. However, Kale is known as a ladies man. No settling down for him. Soon enough their playful banter turns into flirting and eventually into friends with benefits. With Kale's upcoming deployment, the 'what are we question' arises. Neither one wants to admit it, but they have fallen for each other. Hard. When lines are crossed, their past comes back to haunt them. Obstacles are thrown their way. It challenges their beliefs of  love. They are reminded why they always stayed away from love. But this is Kale and Lucy. Their love is like no other.

"I have every intention of making her mine, but until I know she’s ready, hell, until I’m sure that I’m even ready, I’ll bid my time and continue to be her best friends... I know that in the end it’ll be more than worth it. Waiting for her will be worth it.'

Time apart does nothing to dim the flame (pun intended) between Kale and Lucy. Their passionate summer fling is so much more than they ever imagined. Friends with benefits? Sexy times with your best friend? What more can you want? They soon learn that the thought of being without each other is no longer an option. Life makes so much more sense when they are together. Even when life throws curves, Lucy and Kale face them head one. No matter what, Kale and Lucy always find HOME within each other.

"Home isn’t just a place for me, babe. It’s wherever you are. So we could be at my place, at your place, or in a van by the river. As long as I’m with you, then I’m home.'

Inflame is so much more than a friends with benefits or friends to lovers story. Why? Because it goes much DEEPER than that. The connection between Kale and Lucy is felt the moment they met. The reason they never found true love? Because their souls were still looking for each other. That is the kind of love that exists between them. Their love goes beyond what they could have ever imagined. They found love when they least expected it-when they weren't looking. But love doesn't work that way. It finds you when you're ready. With the right person. Inflame attests to that.

"All my time with you is the best times infinity, Kale Montgomery.'

Kale Montgomery. You have absolutely stolen my heart when I least expected it. You are not only drop dead gorgeous, you are kind and you also hold the most beautiful soul I've ever met in a hero in a story. Kale loves with everything he has. With all of his heart and soul. With conviction. Kale. Just. Loves. He protects. He is possessive, yet compassionate. He will make you laugh. He will also make you cry. And you will love him even harder through both.

"And just like that, Lucy Dawson shines the light in my life and my dark thoughts completely disappear.'

While you can read Inflame as a standalone, I highly suggest you read the other books in this series. The author has a talent for allowing you to go beyond reading her stories. You live them. You want to crawl inside her books and become friends with these sexy men and their sexy, sassy, and fierce women. Her characters are genuine. She holds nothing back. As a reader you experience raw emotion in her books, and Inflame adds to that.

I am all kinds of obsessed with Tessa's writing and her charact

I am all kinds of obsessed with Tessa's writing and her characters! I love that they take place here in TN and are centered around the military. We met our main characters Kale and Lucy in the previous book, Incinerate, and I was very curious about their 'relationship'. They have a friends with benefits deal going on, but as we read Inflame, their casual relationship becomes anything but.

I really enjoyed how Tessa took us back to see how Kale and Lucy met, how their arrangement started, and when it all began to change. I feel like that added insight into their characters and situation really added to the storyline.

Kale and Lucy decided to keep their relationship no-strings, as Kale is going to be deploying soon and neither want to be tied down to another. Both have some deeply rooted issues as to why they don't do serious relationships. However, Lucy isn't against trying to do one, and ends up dating her best friend Charlie's fiancé's cousin. Kale gets wind of this and instantly feels a punch to the gut, which makes him realize that his feelings for Lucy go deeper than he originally thought.

I really like that Teevan is so low on angst. She doesn't make us wait forever while Kale and Lucy play cat and mouse with one another in regards to their feelings. Kale is pretty damn stubborn and isn't afraid to go after what he wants. Lucy is equally stubborn, which I loved, as she doesn't put up with any crap. She holds her own and that is one of the things Kale falls for immediately.

Kale and Lucy do face a pretty huge lifestyle change in this book. We get to see these two fall for one another and realize that they don't want to be with other people, as well as watch them deal with this big event. They are in this together and I just adored watching their relationship turn from a sexual one to a loving, nurturing one.

Kale's protectiveness is adorable at the same time it is infuriating. I probably would have thrown a few shoes at him if it were me. Still, Lucy takes it all in stride and doesn't let herself get aggravated with him too much. She never imagined she would need and crave Kale as much as she does and she is really a very lucky girl to have such a great guy. Kale is also lucky, as Lucy is just fun, feisty, and drama-free.

The two have their own obstacles to overcome, as they have never really opened up their pasts with one another. Kale knows he especially needs to come clean with Lucy and share his past, as it isn't right of him to keep something like that from her or have his mom and sisters feel pressure either. Lucy is instantly welcomed into Kale's family and I really loved seeing the dynamic between them. Kale has to work a little bit harder to win Lucy's mom over, but it isn't long before he charms her too.

We do get to catch up with Jace, Lexi, Charlie and Knox in this book and it just warms my heart to see them all together. I was also really pleasantly surprised by Branson and Cohen! They are only in the book for a short period, but wow- Branson has already redeemed himself in my eyes and I haven't even gotten his book yet!

I can't wait for Tessa's next book, as I just love being with these characters and watching them grow, interact, and find love for themselves.

¿A refreshingly positive, insightful and sinfully sexy novel

¿A refreshingly positive, insightful and sinfully sexy novel!¿

    My rating: 4.5 of 5 ¿¿

When Kale Montgomery met Lucy Dawson for the first time, it was when he was visiting his goddaughter's classroom, and Lucy was the teacher. In town on a few months' leave, Kale doesn't hesitate making a move on the spunky and very hot Lucy. Herself not a believer in more than casual flings, and most definitely interested in the goodlooking soldier, Lucy accepts a date.

Over the next few months their physical relationship turns into more of a friends-with-benefits arrangement, since they really like hanging out together, not just in bed. And when the time comes for Kale to go back overseas, they each discover it affects them more than they had bargained for. After months of email and messaging, it didn't take long for them to find each other again, but this time passion really sets root.

Kale is ready to settle down and tries to convince Lucy, who is a little apprehensive at first. Things have progressed fairly quickly since his return and both of them have some air they might want to clear first before time gets away from them, or before someone else runs with the opportunity, and does more damage than it's worth.....

    ****

SUPER sweet and feel good story, without too much unnecessary drama!! Just what I needed to clear my pallet of the massive amounts of grit and angst and violence out there.... Thank you, Tessa Teevan!! It lifted my spirits!!

Not that this book is entirely problem-free!! Kale for one may appear to be a live and let live kinda guy on the surface, but once you get to know him a little better, you'll find that that free-flowing and easy attitude is one perhaps in part instilled by his upbringing, but definitely not all that makes up Kale. Even though he does his best to maintain his unflappable demeanor, he finds that as things progress with Lucy, it is more and more difficult to keep some of his darker memories at bay. Burying them is never a permanent solution.....

Lucy can't help but wait for the other shoe to drop, even when Kale really hasn't given her any reason to think it might. It is just how she was conditioned from early on. It isn't as easy for her to open up and when she finally does she expects rejection, she certainly doesn't want history repeating itself, but how can one prevent that?

The issues described in INFLAME are things you could easily imagine occurring in day to day life, to anyone, at any point. It is what makes this story feel so comfortably familiar and real. But what makes it truly special is the characters described by Ms. Teevan, both entirely lovable and endearing, and yet completely fallible and flawed, making them even more compelling and believable to the reader.

There is a lightness to this story, a sense of optimism, despite the occasional obstacle thrown in the way. Never do we get the sense that something is irrevocably broken, but instead we are always left with a sense of hope, no  matter how dire the circumstances. I just love that about this book. So very well done, Tessa!!

¿A refreshingly positive, insightful and sinfully sexy novel!¿

"The night I met Kale Montgomery, I knew I was in trouble.

"The night I met Kale Montgomery, I knew I was in trouble. I just didn't know how much."

After reading Ignite, I didn't think Tessa could make me fall in love with anyone more than Jace. With Incinerate, she proved me wrong with Knox... and again with Kale, in this in book. OMG. Kale. He's just too sweet and sexy. He's an alpha with a ton of swagger, but also a whole load of emotions and a past that absolutely broke my heart. As I read this book, Kale wiggled his way into my heart and my top book boyfriends list. Not only does Tessa write amazing men, she writes fantastically strong women. Lucy was sassy and strong and, quite possibly, my favorite woman in this series. She had a good head on her shoulders, knew who she was and made no apologies about it.

"Lucy Dawson is unapologetically sexual, and I can already tell I'm going to have a hard time getting enough."

I can't think of a couple more fitting for each other than Kale and Lucy. They are nothing short of perfection together. They each have complicated pasts and neither of them are looking for a serious relationship. From day one, Kale and Lucy share a ton of chemistry and sexual tension and quickly jump into a friends with benefits situation. (And oh boy are those benefits hot... and a wee bit kinky!) It doesn't take them long to realize their hookup has turned into a real friendship. It just kept morphing from there. Theirs was a sweet story with a lot of surprises. Feels and emotions abound!

"Sergeant Montgomery, I'm not sure you can handle the punishment I have in mind for you," she says as she places a hand on her hip, her eyes challenging me.
"Oh, Ms. Dawson, you have no idea. What is it Rihanna says? 'Chains and whips excite me'?"

Once again, Tessa has more than exceeded my expectations of awesome with her incredible writing and broken, but lovable characters. I could talk about this book, these characters and their story endlessly, but I don't want to ruin one single minute of this book for you. If you like strong women, sexy men, smokin' hot love scenes and relationships that are just too perfect for words in a book packed full of heartwarming feels and humor, you need to pick up this series.

"Whatever is us. It's always been us. We don't have a definition. We never have. I love how we are and I don't want that to change."

Now, here's where I get greedy. I literally want her to write books for every single character she's introduced us to in these three books. They're all so wonderful in their own way and I want to know more about each and every one of them. It's always great to get a glimpse into the other couples of the series when a new book is released and this one was no exceptions. I got my Jace/Lexi and Knox/Charlie fix during this book and I'm so, so very grateful!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the third book I have read by Tessa and they just keep getting better and better.
Kale, was actually not what I was expecting. I picture him as a man whore that slept with anything that has two legs. That really isn't the case here. I’m use to guys always being man whores. Yes, Kale sure has had his fair share of woman, but that changed when he meets Lucy. I really enjoyed the two together. They sure had some hilarious moments, but they also had their fair share of hot moments to.

Lucy was an enjoyable character. She wasn't annoying or whinny which was a blessing. Although, there was a part of the book, where I thought she was being ridiculous because the answer was so obvious to her problem.
Overall I really enjoyed the book and I loved all the garden and Kale jokes. And I cannot freaking wait for Xavier and Branson's book's.
