Christopher Paolini
Christopher Paolini

Christopher Paolini’s abiding love of fantasy and science fiction inspired him to begin writing his debut novel, Eragon, when he graduated from high school at fifteen after being homeschooled all his life. Both Eragon and Eldest, the second book in the Inheritance cycle, became instant New York Times bestsellers. Christopher is currently at work on Brisingr, the third volume in the cycle. He lives in Montana, where the dramatic landscape feeds his visions of Alagaësia.

    FANTASTIC ADVENTURE

Just as with the first two installments, Brisingr is an enjoyable read. The story is compelling and the level of detail is impressive. My only criticism is that Paolini (on a few occassions) focuses a bit too much on meaningless details when he should be pushing the plot. Other than that, Brisingr is a very satisfying read and I can't wait for the fourth and final book.<BR/>Everyone is, obviously, entitled to their opinion, but it will be interesting to see how many of those who left less than positive feedback still read the fourth book. I have a feeling that (just like those who left negative reviews for books 1 and 2) they will be back again with more comments the next round--which is telling. Why do some people continue to read these books if they don't like them?

A truly astonishing series that raises the bar on fantasy stories!

This is perhaps the most amazing book series I have ever had the pleasure to read. Brisingr, the most recent book, in particular is great - It's the climax - when the story's ending draws near, and we know what fantastic revelations lie just at our fingertips! Join Eragon the farm boy as he continues to learn about his history and his future. Great "growing up" story - a fantastic read for everyone. All ages will enjoy the thrill ride of magic, adventure, and just general fantasy. Christopher Paolini is a literary genious - and he wrote Eragon (the first book) when he was just 16! Eragon Saphira, and Arya are the perfect group of characters - fully developed and highly enjoyable to read about. The plot as a whole is astonishing - Eragon and Saphira, once living on a farm or in an egg are then pitted against the most powerful enemies in the world! Never fear though, they have the kind and woody elves and the tough rocky dwarves to help them all along the way. In the end though, a final confrontation is inevitable - and readers just can't wait. Buy the book and read it to the end in order to find out what happens! Will Eragon escape each pressing struggle that plagues his early life? What happens to the other characters in the story? It's up to you to find out!

    Eragon is amazing!

A thrilling action story that will shake you over and over again, and the descriptive details Paolini uses will panint vivid images in your mind. You will feel as if your actually riding upon the back of a dragon, or in the midst of a battle over the fate of a country. The plot is ellegently woven, and the character design makes you feel as if you truly know the characters. This is a real page-turner, one that will make you want to read until its done, then want more. You must read this book to truly know what real literature is!!!

Eragon,Saphira, a Rider and his dragon, are going on adventures

Eragon,Saphira, a Rider and his dragon, are going on adventures and battling to overthrow the intimidating, murderous, and power-thirsty king Galbatorix. They fight for the Varden, a group of people also trying to overthrow Galbatorix, and may be the Varden's, and the people of Alagaesia's last hope. Soon, Eragon and Saphira gain hope by meeting another dragon opposing Galbatorix, only to have it stripped away by the evil king himself. Saphira is not only the last hope for the Varden, but is also the only remaining free dragon, and her race's last hope. Eragon, Saphira are connected by their minds, and think, feel, and act as one. They also share a love for each other like no other, which I find intriguing. If you like action, adventure, and suspense, I highly suggest reading this series. Will Eragon, Saphira be successful, or be defeated by Galbatorix? Find out in the epic conclusion to this series, Inheritance.

    Good

I was hesitant to read this series until I started Eragon online on BN.com. I read as much as it would allow and I found myself drawn in. You can certainly tell that Eragon was written by a young adult and as the series goes on you can tell the author is/has matured. I anxiously await the final book in the series.

    Speechless.

Personally.. I loved the three books that the set came with. I couldn't lay any of them down. I think ANYONE could read these, and say they spent their money well. I wish I could find a book quite like this but I don't think I can..

Great, great read. Recommend to anyone.

    Great as Gift

I purchased this for an older family member who loves fantasy Sci-Fi. He loved the hardcover gift boxset - great for his collection too. I don't know much about Eragon, so you should read the other reviews of the book series itself.

Give this a chance in spite of the movie

While admittedly the Eragon movie is one of the worst movies I have ever seen this series still deserves to be read. To best describe it, this storyline is what would have come about had George Lucas and J.R.R. Tolkien had a little powwow. Certainly a good read for anyone who is a fan of either stories and especially for those who are fans of the fantasy genre.

Yeah, the books are great, but...

Everyone always LOVES this series, and while I was initially skeptical, when I finally started reading them, I was impressed. It's basically just a typical fantasy series, and it's fun even if his writing style is a bit simplistic. But this boxed set is a major mistake. I don't know if anyone else realized this, but there is a FOURTH BOOK! It was meant to be a trilogy, but in the acknowledgments of "Brisingr", Paolini says that the last book was too long so he turned it into a "cycle." So it would make more sense to wait until a boxed set of the whole series comes out.

    Still waiting

I like others, am still waiting. I hate purchasing new books to read in hard cover to have them possibly ruined while reading. So I wait for paperbacks to come out to read. Then if I like the series I purchase them in hard cover as collectors. And then pass my paperbacks onto others to read. My gripe is whats with the 3rd book out in paperback, in spanish and not in english. Still waiting. I enjoyed the first two books and like others, I am waiting for the paperback edition to read the third.

    The Inheritance Cycle

This is an extremely awesome book series. There were parts where it had me laughing and then there were parts that had me crying. Its an emotional book and it has tons of action and suspense. If you have seen the movie "Eragon" which is based off the first book in this series, don't think that that is how the book is. The movie may be good, but it does the book no justice because the book is just 1,000 times better. This is a book series that one cannot just pass up!

    Great Inheritance Series!!!*

Very good! I love series, so when I found out that there where more than just one I just had to read them all. What also inspired me was the fact that at about my age the author (Christopher Paolini) at the time, was homeschooled just like I am. I liked the books so much, that I wish they could go on forever, but they don't. So, I just had to write my own.

*This review was submitted by my 13 year old son Dylan, as one of his homeschooling requirements.

    Powerful!

Very interesting! These books made me want to read more and more books, they started it all. I will never HAVE to reread it because I forget something, I would reread it just for the fun! It's so amazing he could write Eragon when he was 14-15? Chris makes you fall in love with all of the dragons as well as the elves and humans!

    Excellent series!

Although I suspect written for teens, as an adult these books kept me reading. I enjoyed the story line, good writing style, and the characters are interesting. I recommend it to all fantasy readers and look forward to another in the future. I hope the author has plans!
