LAUREN TOWERS, INSOMNIAC

11:59 p.m.: Days left: 1!

Tomorrow morning (!) I leave home and Briar Creek for Canterwood Crest Academy. I got up to blog because I could not sleep. Usually, I’m up late on Fridays anyway, but not like this. Blogging is better than talking sometimes because I can sit down and let all of my thoughts come out unfiltered on the page. I’ve been blogging all summer—Dad’s suggestion—and now I’m totally addicted to it.

I’m scared about tomorrow. So scared. I’m still second-guessing all of my decisions about everything. I’ll admit it: All of these questions keep rolling around my brain, like:

Am I leaving Briar Creek too soon?

Am I ready for the competitive riding life again?

Are Whisper and I prepared?

Will anyone find out my secret before I’m ready to talk about it or any other part of my past?

That last question is the one keeping me awake. Tonight and every night.

    Amazing!

I loved all the sasha books. But Lauren is great. I got every book the day they came out and when chosen came out i was "sick" and stayed home to read it! And i stayed up until midnight to read unfriendly competition. So I love these books! Amazing. I recomend it to anyone who loves horses, a good relatible story plot or just needs a good read. :)

You may not want to spend your money

You see i have read all the books in this series. But the thing is the first 4 or 5 are spectacular. Then as you read more of the books, the author uses the same phrase like we soared over the lasst vertical and it gets boring. I love horses but the author also thinks you basically know what the horses are doing like serpentines, and verticles. Its really hard to understand at times and gets frustrating. Along with that the life of the rider is basically perfect. they dont have trouble with their boyfriend and they can afford things. they go shopping when they want. they get their way all the time, which is not real life. I think jessica burkhart livess through her books too much. She wishes this was her life and its too perfect. Truly sasha's story is best. another thing is that the whole boyfriend thing is tooo grown. the characters act like adults; very mature. They're very supportive and i know friends aren't always like that. its not the best series of bookks, but it will occupy you for some time.

    Good book-recommended

I liked the drama of the book. I also like how Lauren is struggling. If the life is too perfect, that makes the book seem fake. But Lauren has a very tough time at Canterwood, which I find kind of nice.
I don't like Lauren very much, I think she's not very nice, but that doesn't mean the book is bad. The drama and descriptions are very good, like always. Jessica Burkhart writes many good books.
My favorite character, honestly, is NOT Lauren. It's Riley.
I know, I know, Riley is supposed to be the mean girl. But I like how she dresses nicely, and I think she looks very pretty.
There are two things I don't like much about this book.
    1. Lauren. Whenever Riley says something, she says something mean and WINS. This is only the first book so it's okay, but in the books coming up, I hope Lauren loses a lot more fights, makes a few more mistakes, and is in general not very perfect. Sasha was cool, 'cause she made her fair share of mistakes, got tricked more than once, and while she had her triumphs, she had her downfalls. Please make Lauren a bit more like Sasha, if you can, Jessica Burkhart. Perfect girls just make the book, well, fake.
    2. Horse terms. I live in the city and dont' know squat about horses. So if Jessica Burkhart could describe serpentines, oxers, etcetera, that would be nice.
    A good book, regardless.
Love the cliffhanger-can't wait to read Popular!
