I first read Inner Skiing in 1981 as a novice skier. My old copy is decorated with yellow-highlighted passages which I review over and over, like: 'Breakthrough experiences don't occur by trying to make them happen.' My ski instructor in Aspen in March of '82, talking to me when I was having a bad day, asked if I had read 'Inner Skiing.' Hearing I had, he said, 'Read it again!' And so this is a book to read over and over, especially at the beginning of each new ski season. I've been off skis for 10 years; I'm reading it again before returning to the sport I loved. It is the skier's personal psychoanalyst.
