Overview

Inside: Tracey never fit in anywhere as a child, so she worked hard to make college different. Out in the world, she didn't talk about her parents, or her travels, or the languages she spoke. She didn't talk much at all because it frequently led to black people asking why she talked "white" and white people asking where she was from. No one believed she was a native Southerner.

But the people she met in grad school weren't satisfied with knowing her only on the surface and Garrett Atkins--well, he wasn't satisfied at all because, even though she couldn't help falling in love with his Southern charm and overall gorgeousness, Tracey wasn't about to be "that girl" who ended up with a white husband.

Out: Entering his last year in law school, Garrett Atkins can't complain about his life. At graduation, he's guaranteed a job in a prestigious firm. . . and a wife. But one mix-up on campus introduces him to stubborn, snide and sexy Tracey McAlpine. She may not be what's best for him, but God help him, she's what he wants, and Rett has never been a man who has accepted being told he can't have what he wants, no matter the consequences.

    Good read

I enjoyed this book very much. The charactors were realistic and relateable even if not always likeable and sometimes unreasonable, but for me this is what added to the reallness.Unlike many of the romance novels that I've read recentlly they did not begin to profess their love for one another upon their second meeting and have wild graphic sex shortly rhere after. Instead their relationahip grew out of friendship over time so that the reader is able to see why they have feeling for each other.

    Romance/Love

Well written, held my attention. Bought it and, started reading it last night, and finish it this morning. I would have to say that I couldn't put this book down. The book seemed to address in a very realistic way, the roller coaster emotions that Rett and Tracey had to deal with as they fell in love. The setting was in the Deep South and delved into the very different backgrounds of Garrett, an all American middle class white law student and Tracey, a well to do African American grad student. Somehow opposites attract but the two have to figure out a way to exist in the outside world. The author developed the characters well, showed the evolution of the relationship and ultimately we got the happy ending that you expect from a romance novel. This is an author that I will be looking forward for more stories, because she knows how to keep the reader wanting more.

    Highly recommended!

This book is a realistic story of the difficulties faced in interracial dating. The characters are interesting and deeply in love. One character is willing to make sacrifices and the other is not. Both of their families are very opposed to their relationship and this makes for an interesting read. The story has a lot of realistic ups and downs that people experience in every day life. An enjoyable read.

Immature! The main characters are in their 20s pursuing graduate degrees, but are extremely childish. They both acted like teenagers. Despite that, this book was fairly well-written.

The heroine in this book was extremely immature and unlikable. Almost to the point I was almost wishing the hero would've moved on.

    I would read it again

The plot was good, it was told well. Somethings were a bit childish and bland. But the delivery made up for it.

I enjoyed this book although it was hard to read sometimes because of the female character. Tracy was not likeable and very immature. It was really hard to see how the male character could want to be in a relationship with her.

    Great book

Loved this book. Although Tracey seemed immature, you had to respect her for finally not letting her fear of being with Garrett overrule her love for him. Garrett was awesome!!

This book was very well written but I'm sorry to say that I hate

This book was very well written but I'm sorry to say that I hate the female lead Tracy lol. She was cowardly, immature and selfish. I didn't like the fact that she never really SAID what was on her mind even at the end of the book. I would have loved for her to truly express her love for Garret to him and to everyone else but she never really did and it was so frustrating. She didn't deserve him at all. I loved Garret and Angie though.

It took a good forty pages before I really became interested in this story but once I got past those pagesI loved this book. You can feel the characters emotions and the ending was great. This was a great read.

    Enjoyable

I had this book on my wish list for awhile. I 'm so glad I purchase it, this was an enjoyable read. What I really like about this story the characters were not perfect and they had to work through their issues, which did not take overnight. The story had a nice flow. I do recommend.
