INSIDE RAIN is a well-crafted novel with a surprising conclusion that I didn't see coming, which is a credit to how well Mensah spun her tale. The character development was multi-layered and I found myself questioning their decisions and actions as the author dealt with mental issues, drug abuse, and abusive behaviors. The novel was plot driven with so much action and activity going on it was never a dull moment. INSIDE RAIN will mesmerize readers and blow their minds.

Meet the Author

Native Detroiter, Monique D. Mensah, is a two-time award winning novelist with an innate love for the written word. Monique's talent for writing was first discovered by her third grade teacher, who regularly asked the young student to share her short stories with the class and sometimes the principal and other school administration during assemblies and PTO meetings. At that time, she declared her dream to become a published author, as she believed it to be her purpose. She continued to receive praise for her writing throughout middle and high school.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, with a bachelor's degree in business management, Monique was prompted by her best friend to, "just write a book" and fulfill her life-long dream. She started her first novel,WHO IS HE TO YOU, a drama that she independently published through her publishing company, Kisa Publishing, in 2009. Monique's debut received critical acclaim by readers and prominent book clubs across the country. In June 2010 she was awarded the title of "Author of the Year" by the African-Americans on the Move Book Club (AAMBC) a national book club organization, promoting African-American authors and literature. In August 2010, Mensah released her second novel, INSIDE RAIN, a psychological thriller that is celebrated as the winner of the 2010 Best Books Awards for African-American Fiction. The Best Books Awards, sponsored by USA Book News, also named WHO IS HE TO YOU as a finalist in the same category.

Monique now resides in Southfield, MI where she is raising her daughter and working full-time as a counselor for a private university. She is also the principal and founder of Make Your Mark Editing Services, a boutique copyediting business that assists authors in turning their manuscripts into masterpieces. Monique is currently working on her third novel, SMOKE SCREEN, due for release late summer 2011.

    Highly Recommended! OMG!

    This pychological novel is spellbinding, jaw dropping and mind bending. Monique has a gift of putting pen to paper and giving her readers such vivid detail and thought provoking images. I could see every character in full effect as if I was standing side by side with them. Inside Rain had me on the edge of my seat. I waw pulled into Rain's world> I was captivated, and intrigued. I can see this as a motion picture for sure. Monique is a seasoned writer beyond her years.
    BRAVO Monique, You have once again captured your readers with yet another captivating novel. A must read for book clubs!

    Highly Recommended Most Read!!!

    There are some things that a child's tender eyes should not see. Things that can alter who they are, how they view the world, and dreadful events that can change them forever.

    After witnessing the untimely death of her mother, Rain was permanently scarred. Rendered silent after the horrific event, Rain goes to live with her grandmother, Gigi. Gigi does everything that she can to comfort Rain and encourage her to speak, but she doesn't utter one word until her sister and brother come to live with them.

    As the years pass, Rain finds solace in poetry and spoken word. She is living with her brother Danny and sister Carmen. To Carmen, Danny is a protector, but who's going to protect Danny's girlfriend from him? Carmen is obsessed with herself and does everything within her power to hurt Rain.

    Inside Rain is the highly anticipated sophomore novel written by Authoress Monique D. Mensah. With an awesome, attention drawing cover, Inside Rain will leave the reader speechless. This novel is filled with authentic, multi-faceted characters. Ms. Mensah has shown immense talent with her first novel and Inside Rain has more than exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this novel.

    Great book

    This author is awesome. She keeps you glued to the pages. The characters were so interesting. Great book to read. All of her books are must reads.

    Great read

    All I can say is wow this is the 2nd book I read by this author it was really a good page turner. Who would of thought it will end like that 2 thumbs up!

    HIGHLY Recommended--a serious MUST read!

    Monique does is it again! Inside Rain takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions only to leave you breathless when it's over. The character(s) come alive in ways you never expect from a book. I love the way she unfolds a story...layer by layer until the very end. Awesome! I can't wait to finish reading Smoke Screen!
