Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
According to Joel C. Rosenberg, spiritual, religious, and political battles are taking place all over the Middle East. In Inside the Revolution, he explains how jihadists, Jeffersonian Muslim leaders, and Christian sympathizers are vying for supremacy and/or breathing space. A Christian fundamentalist view of a bubbling global hotspot.
Publishers Weekly

Known best for his fiction centered in the Middle East and based in Christian end times beliefs, Rosenberg's nonfiction behemoth will be a bestseller among evangelicals. Rigorous research, travel and interviews with hundreds of Muslim, Jewish and Christian leaders lends credibility to this survey of the spectrum of beliefs that drive foreign policy in nations such as Iran, on which the book focuses. Rosenberg divides Muslims into three types. Radical Islamists will stop at nothing short of dominating the world or destroying those who believe otherwise. Reformers believe radical Muslims have hijacked peaceful Islam for their own power-hungry and violent ends. Revivalists are Muslims or those living in predominantly Muslim countries who believe Islam is not the answer but that Jesus is the way. Rosenberg challenges Islamic eschatology without adequately comparing parallel Christian views. On the other hand, he is one of a few evangelicals who will put quotes from the Qur'an in context, has traveled widely and interviewed global leaders. This is one of the best primers for evangelical Christians to understand political Islam in the Middle East. (Mar. 10)

    A balanced and comprehensive work

Without this book, the Western mind cannot begin to comprehend the serious threat that radical Islam poses to the world. This book explains the driving forces behind the critical headlines and global crises we face.

There are 1.3 billion Muslims-Islam is a strong voice. Three movements within Islam are in place to change the world forever, for good or evil: Radicals, who believe violent jihad is the way; Reformers, who believe Islam is good but democracy is the way forward; and Revivalists, who believe Jesus is the answer, not Islam.

Rosenberg provides a comprehensive work on the Islamic Revolution-its past, present, and future. He draws from the Qu'ran, testimonials and textbooks to outline the core beliefs of each movement.

The top five scenarios that trouble the world's military and intelligence leaders are based on the jihadist movement obtaining nuclear capabilities. Iran's President Ahmadinejad, a catalyst and powerful influence, is driven by the conviction that Allah is holding him personally accountable to destroy Judeo-Christian civilization.

In the midst of the volatile situation in the epicenter, is another powerful influence-the Revivalist movement. Millions of Muslims have converted to Christ in recent years. The testimonies are gripping.

Rosenberg has been invited numerous times to speak with congressmen, senators, high-ranking military and intelligence leaders, and foreign ambassadors. Recently, he addressed a group of 125 Pentagon officials on why Ahmadinejahd's eschatology (end time theology) is driving Iranian foreign policy. Rosenberg's presentation is in the book.

"Understanding these three Revolutionary movements-including the crises they are responding to and the answers they are offering-is of absolutely critical importance. Those who ignore these trends do so at their peril."

great book that breaks it all down in easy to understand bites...

There is so much misinformation and negativity perpetrated by the media with respect to radical Islam and the Iraqi war that reading this was like a breath of fresh air. Joel Rosenberg is a respected advisor to presidents and friend to dignitairies alike. He researches the topics contained in this book well and presents a well-balanced assessment of the situation in the middle east from a diplomats point of view as well as an evangelical christian. An excellent read for anyone who REALLY wants to know what is going on with Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Russia.

    Very in depth. Great Book.

This book is a great insight into the different mentalities over in the Middle East. The section on the Radicals was my favorite as it opened my eyes, made me think, and ultimately sent chills down my spine. The other two sections on the reformers and revivalists helps to remind the reader of why we are in the middle east (being that there is still hope for a brighter tomorrow.) I also think Rosenberg did NOT push his opinion on the reader, but simply presented the facts.

Brilliantly written - why are the top officials of the country not reading this?

The way the book is broken down into three sections, makes it understandable. The background and history was enormously helpful and insightful. I have a much better understanding of the world I live in.

I have been encouraged by the fact that the radicals are not winning. The mainstream media refuses to publish the wonderful people, events and changes that are taking place around the world. There is hope....

The research and insight is incredible. I only hope that the top officials of our country would make this book a read. They would gain great insight which would help govern this country better.

    Thanks Joel.

Who's opinion can you really trust?

Has anyone ever just sat down with you and asked if they could help you understand what is really going on? And even if they did, what is their angle...what is their agenda? So much has been written about terrorism that can offer little hope of a future. Fear is most often shrouded in ignorance. I found someone who goes after the facts first hand and reports the way a true reporter should; not just painting a picture he believes his audience wants to see. Joel clearly understands the so called Radicals who mask themselves in a religion called Islam. He has reached out and made friends with the moderate Muslim leaders while at the same time unapologetically draws his insight from the prophetic word of old. Past, present and future held together with a thread that can only be seen through the third eye. This book brought understanding to the often confusing reports I hear from the Middle East. I thoroughly enjoyed this authentic, factual and insightful look at the real enemy and the blessed hope for those caught in the conflict.

Learn the Mindsets of Jihadists, Moderates, and Christians in the Middle East

"How the Followers of Jihad, Jefferson & Jesus are Battling to Dominate the Middle East and Transform the World."

Many have said of Rosenberg's fiction, "It's like reading tomorrow's paper!" I'd like to say that reading Rosenberg's non-fiction is like reading today's paper, only a version that involves the essentials of understanding the Middle East and one that has been written by a knowledgeable, experienced Christian man I know I can trust.

Inside the Revolution takes the reader on a journey through the histories and present-day mindsets of three distinct religious groups in the Middle East: the radical, fundamentalist Muslims; the peace-loving, open-minded mainstream Muslims; and the Christ-following Christian converts (former-Muslims and non-). What drove Osama Bin Laden to become the man he was and relish the things he did? What do the Muslims in your town really think of Al Qaeda and jihad? How many Christians are worshiping in Iran, and how does the government treat them? The answers to all these questions (and so many more ) are developed throughout this book, a well-researched and beautifully arranged masterpiece on the roots of what has recently brought our world into its nervous instability.

Rosenberg also delves deeply into the political and religious convictions of today's (ca. 2008) political leaders throughout the region. After having read these intimate biographies based off years of research and personal interviews, I believe I understand so much more the intricacies of the US-Middle East relations, and am now not so much an idiot when it comes to listening to news from the region. Friend or foe, the nations that cover the hotspot of religious, political, military, and economic intrigue ought to be important to all Americans, for what occurs across the world truly does affect each and every one of us here at home.

It is safe to say that Inside the Revolution must be essential reading for anyone interested in Rosenberg's fiction. But I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves to study religions, politics, history, or sociology. It's like Rosenberg took a slice of the 150-layer cake that is our growing-Muslim world and dished it out for his readers to enjoy. I am smarter for having read it, and trust you will be too.

    Understanding the Middle East Conflict

Joel C. Rosenberg does an excellent job of writing about the conflict in the Middle East in his book, Inside the Revolution. This conflict involves those followers of Islam who want change and are willing to use violence, those followers of Islam who believe that change can be brought about through peaceful means, and followers of Christ who believe that change will be brought about through following His teachings. His presentation is well-researched and reflects years of gathering information through personal interactions with those involved and through much study. This is not a book which you can read quickly, but one which I would recommend.

    A must read!

A lady at a bookstore recommended this book to me when I asked about endtime books. My husband bought it for my birthday. I must say that I was ignorant of a lot of the things Joel writes. I have never even heard of him before, but, I would love to read more of his books. This is an excellent book! I plan on reading it again more slowly so I can learn more about some of the things he writes about. I'm thankful to be able to know that I know Jesus Christ as my savior!

Jesus is alive in the Muslim world!

This book lays it all out pretty straight forward. What we are up against with fanatical Islamists and what can overcome this threat, not only to normal Muslims, but to the civilized world. It is a sobering message that also brings much hope.

    Very educational and enlightening

Firstly, anything that Joel Rosenberg does is good. Does a very good job of detailing events that have lead to the current situation in the middle east and the likely direction these events will take.
There are no punches pulled in the book and for those that are concerned with the event in the middle east this book helps you clearly understand what is going on and why it is happening.

    Lives up to its name

Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed by this book. Lots of modern history. Lots of interviews. Lots of information to take in at one time. It's certainly not a quick read, so take the time to digest it. One thing is sure, though: Author Joel C. Rosenberg has access to people in the know when it comes to the Middle East. He is an expert, or at least has become one, on Middle Eastern history, Islam and conflicts that have plagued that area of the world. I'm impressed by his list of sources, which include heads of state (or their family members) from places like Morocco and Iraq. I was uncomfortable, at first, with the tone of fear the book takes right off the bat. It almost prevented me from reading on. I don't like to live in fear of "what if" and the first few chapters are chock full of "what ifs" concerning Iran and nuclear weapons and global annihilation. I was pleased, though, by the end of the book, to see that the author offers a slew of practical ways Christians can respond to the conflicts. This is not a light read, nor does it make for a good bedtime story. But I applaud Rosenberg for continually tackling a topic that is not only controversial but often ignored.
