Positive Review from a thankful grad student

As a relatively new Ohio State doctoral student (new to Columbus), I am relieved to have access to a guidebook about the city. It is difficult feeling your way around a new territory- especially when many of your friends and colleagues are in the same boat. One of the first chapters I read was Parks and Recreation and was pleased with the overall information. I was very excited to see it included bike trails and my favorite Metro Park - Inniswood Gardens. In fact, there are five pages dedicated to the city's MetroParks and many helpful insiders' tips throughout the guide. One thing I did notice, is the index does not include several places that are actually in the book- such as Inniswood. The indexer seems to have overlooked quite a few things, but it's not to say it isn't in there. As a critical, but conscientious reader one should flip through the index with a grain of salt. What I like particularly is how the author manages to spread information across various chapters. Random restaurants, boutiques and history pop up in unrelated chapters, keeping it interesting for those of us who do read the book. This isn't a boring book of lists and it isn't arranged as such. The Insiders Guide to Columbus is receiving an excellent review by a very thankful grad student. --DJM

    Bravo, Bravo!!

Finally, an informative, helpful guide of Columbus has evolved. This has long been needed to outsiders that visit Columbus and are looking for interesting things to see and do. The title is very appropriate as it is consistent with the information presented. We will be looking forward to reading a 2nd edition... a Pittsburgh Pilot & his wife...

    Insiders' Guide to Columbus, Ohio

I pre-ordered the book before it even came out- and was not disappointed. I applaude the efforts to undertake such a huge task. Ms. Kelley definitely takes into account many different places and perspectives from all over the city- and there are a lot of them, so be sure to read through the entire book! It seems to me she touched on a little bit of everything. I really like that it is a selective guide book and not a comprehensive directory to every little corner of the city. It musn't be easy to have to pick and choose what to select for inclusion, but she did a fine job. I am a fan!

    Insiders' Guide to Columbus, Ohio

Finally - Columbus has its' own travel guide! It's about time. There is so much to do here and the city is often underrated. Her guide does a great job showcasing the variety and quality of things to do. Thanks for writing a fantastic book.
