Overview

"What I'm offering in this book is the awareness that we can return to a full-time position of inspiration, which is the true meaning of our life." -Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.....INSPIRATION In this groundbreaking book, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explains how we've chosen to enter this world of particles and form. From our place of origin, in ways that we don't readily comprehend now, we knew what we were coming here to accomplish, and we participated in setting this life process in motion. So why not think along these same lines? Why put the responsibility or blame on any one or any thing that's not a part of us? On Earth we have the capacity of volition-we can choose-so let's assume that we had the same capacity when we resided in the spiritual realm. We chose our physical body, and we chose the parents we needed for the trip. It doesn't seem too great a stretch to move into the idea that we chose this life in concert with our Source. Inspiration can be cultivated and be a driving force throughout life, rather than showing up every now and then and just as mysteriously disappearing, seemingly independent of our desires. Inspiration is for everyone! It isn't reserved for high-profile creative geniuses in the arts and sciences-it's inherent in our Divine birthright. The problem is that as children we're gradually taught to believe exclusively in the world of phenomena where ego is dominant and inspiration diminished. As you read each chapter in this book, you'll find specific suggestions for living "in-Spirit." From a very personal viewpoint, Wayne offers a blueprint through the world of inspiration-your ultimate calling.....Wayne W. Dyer, Ph.D., is an internationally renowned author and speaker in the field of self-development. He's the author of 30 books, has created numerous audio programs and videos, and has appeared on thousands of television and radio shows.

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
Dr. Wayne Dyer wants us to listen up. He insists that there's a voice in the universe calling each of us to remember and live our purpose. In Inspiration, he explains how we can achieve our ultimate purpose by moving through the world of spirit to inspiration. Groundbreaking affirmations.
Publishers Weekly
The bestselling author of the New Age classic The Power of Intention has another book that will probably delight his fans and new readers who resonate with his spiritual approach. Inspiration, Dyer writes, is the opposite of motivation and goal-oriented thinking, the latter, "grabbing an idea and carrying it through to an acceptable conclusion." Inspiration, on the other hand, is when "an idea has taken hold of us from the invisible reality of Spirit." To Dyer, getting rid of ego in all its manifestations is the first step to connecting with the power of inspiration. In alternately wise and plodding prose, Dyer cites self-laudatory examples of his own personal generosity to strangers as well as various synchronicities that he takes to be expressions of the interconnectedness of all things and signs that he is spiritually on the right path. Yet many of the ideas here seem recycled; anyone who has watched What the Bleep Do We Know? will be familiar with them, and Dyer's name-dropping asides about his Maui writing retreat and successful lifestyle can be off-putting. This is an exceptional tape.

I purchased this tape on the recommendation of a friend. I find it both inspirational and relaxing. I usually listen at the end of my day, before bed. The meditation allows me to rest and relax for a good nights sleep.

    In Spirit

We live in a world that is surrounded by bad news, simply turn on the news or look at the world around you. Bad, bad, and worse is the constant message that filters through.
Fortunately there are sparkles of light that shine in the darkness. Inspiration: Your Ultimate Calling by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer is one such book.
More than a preachy motivational book, Dyer takes you on reflective journey as he not shares gems of wisdom but opens his vulnerabilities. His message of spirit weaves through his works.
Dyer shares how he befriended a butterfly and it followed him and landed on his hand. He felt that this creature represented his friend Jack and it created a bond.
Dyer states his intent of the book is "what I'm offering in this book is the awareness that we can return to a full-time position of inspiration which is the true meaning of our life."
By recognizing the ever powerful spirit within each of us we then able to be inspired to live our dreams. It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, so why not let teacher Dyer inspire you to live the life you want to lead.

A Year's Woth of Inspirational Quotes

Your Ultimate Calling: 365 Ways to Bring Inspiration into Your Life by Wayne W. Dyer could be a deck of cards or a one-day calendar as easily as a book. The book is in full color with photographs of nature and drawings of flowers and butterflies. Dyer believes that inspiration can be cultivated and that it is an achievable state of being. This book is essentially a distillation of Dyer's other works. He presents 365 basic spiritual principles in one or two sentences. This is not a book you sit down to read rather it is a daily inspirational guide, best suited for meditative/contemplative purposes. Here are three samples from the book: 'Thoughts themselves are an energy and it's vital to realize that you need to work on not holding on to the ones that will weaken you.' 'When you're at peace with your life and in a state of tranquility, you actually send out a vibration of energy that impacts all living creatures, including plants, animals...and even babies!' 'The phrase I expect miracles is more than a New Age slogan, it's how you feel when you live each day in spirit. You leave the world of anxiety, fear, doubt, and impossibility and enter a new, wonderful world where all things are possible.' By the author of the award winning book, Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify and Energize Your Life, Your Home and Your Planet.

    It's inspiring!

In 'Inspiration : Your Ultimate Calling,' Wayne Dyer focuses on the interior aspects of the self instead of outward manifestations such as trying to achieve certain goals or outcomes. Through the interior journey, we find encouragement and inspiration. Dyer is focused less on ego-based approaches to living, instead he outlines the way to connect with the higher self.

    enlightening

i think those who read books and pass negative comments on what they read do not understand the whole purpose of reading. reading gives you the other alternative. it provides you with an opposite edge and more importantly, it is an act pursued for enlightenment. inspiration and Dr. Dyer does just that. i love it.

    Beautiful

When I first found this book, I wanted something that I could live and work by. After I read it the people around me, my friends, family and professors, had noticed a '180 degree difference' in the way I walked, talked and acted. If you read pervious books, it's the same except for revised thoughts on previous principles. If you are thinking of by this book, and a first time reader, I would definately recomend this book and author.

    A Purpose and A Reason

Every book seems to be a continuation of Dr. Dyer's spiritual evolvement. I find some helpful material in each one, and add to my stash of positive energy. His story about the butterfly's message was quintessential. Trish New, author of The Thrill of Hope, South State Street Journal, and Memory Flatlined.

    cynicism doesnt help anyone.

I am seeing alot of negative comments here and the trend that they seem to encompass is cynicism. do you expect to to read a book and automatically be saved? to have it click perfectly and be easy to understand, again, the north american perception. it just sounds like a temper tantrum to me. Wayne dyer's teachings have helped so many people around the world get through difficult times in their lives. dont write cynical and negative OPINIONs that mite sway someone in need from choosing to read his books, it might not have reached you, but it could save another person's life. that's selfishness at it's best. Open you're mind a bit.

    Perfect timing

I have been putting things off, and just mailed a letter to Wayne yesterday and today I get this butterfly in my email from Barnes and Noble telling me of the new book out by Wayne. It's funny, no it isn't, but it's another butterfly, becasue I was just getting my life balanced and organized things in order to do and sending a thank you to wayne was on top. I feel I'm blessed with a sign that I'm on the right track by getting a release that the new book, getting balanced is there right when I needed another sign. God is good. Wayne following his instructions is great. Now just to stay on that track of balance...and listening as I am, I'll be getting butterflies every day, all day. Smiles to you, and thanks, Marcia Early

Another Worthwhile Book From Dr. Dyer

This book was a nice read. I think I liked some of his other books a bit better, but this was worth getting and reading because it was uplifting and inspiring. Easy and enjoyable to read too.

    Hypnotizing

This kind of writings is of the kind that people like to read and listen because it hypnotizes them same as drugs or day dreaming. Unfortunately this effect does not last for a long time just while you are reading the book you feel great. after awhile you return back to fears, depression, hoplessness...etc Unless we get truly changed by the renewal of our minds (Rom.12:2-3)by a true and healthy relationship with God through Jesus Christ all our attempts to have a better life will be in vain.

    Will the Sixties NEVER End?

Well, upon opening this book I knew nothing about the author but, as soon as he identified himself as the reincarnation of Saint Francis of Assisi I knew I was in for a ride. Unfortunately, the ride was like a long bus trip across the desert. Granted, this is a pleasant, upbeat book and relaxing enough to read and, unlike many guru-writers, Dyer seems harmless. There are a few interesting observations but not enough to fill 252 pages. For the most part, it's a book of rather shallow simplicities ('Generosity is a way to be more God-like' and 'We deserve to feel joy.') That's all nice, but leaves the reader with little that hasn't been said over and over since the Sixties. More to the point, Dyer points out money flows to him because 'he is money.' No doubt--while he points out in Chapter 16 that 'becoming inspired isn't achieved by attending workshops,' it's amusing to note that he offers plenty of them--as well as CD's, 'Inner Peace Card Decks,' and a nifty 'Power of Intention Flip Calendar.' All for a hefty price, of course. Vibrational thinking aside, this book's rambling, droning style and constant use of 'I' and 'me' might make a good relaxation tape. If you're looking for something beyond gushy 'feel-good,' however, find a Bible, Torah or Gita.

    Better than 'intention'

I'm a long time reader of Dr. Dyers books. I was very disappointed in 'The Power Of Intention' - the book AND the PBS Special. It was confusing and tiresome. This book comes close to redeeming Dr. Dyer for me again. I keep '10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace' on my nightstand as a quick bedtime reminder of how easy life should/could be - if we could just stop complicating it for ourselves.

    Amazing!

Sometimes the simplest words help us to reach back to that point in ourselves when we knew what we wanted... when we felt happiness... when life was different. I had been living such a stressful life recently. I was unhappy, unfulfilled, and so disconnected from what I truly wanted. On a trip to the bookstore a few weeks ago, I discovered two books... One was Dr. Dyer's book, the other was Islands of the Soul: A Guide to Personal Turth and Happiness, by Victoria Tunnermann. Both of these books have such important, inspiring messages! After reading them, I feel that things are shifting in my life and changing in wonderful ways! I highly recommend both of them!

I loved this latest book and waited for it to be on the shelves. I almost dread finishing Dr. Dyer's books, cause it's such a wonderful journey from cover to cover, if you're on your spiritual path. My soul is fed such nourishment.

Worth the money, and time to read it.

I came to this country from sudan three years ago, and when i listened to Inspiration: your ultimate calling on PBs, i was moved and started to forget my own problems especially when i heard of young boys of six years old believing to dug a well in Uganda which he did. i was also touched by the young lady story from Rwanda. I will recommand to each one who thinks that somethings are impossible or kids can not do any, read the book. Inspiratiion: your ultimate calling. No matter how old one is, there is always a voice inside of us telling us what to do. I'm only 20 years old, and considered myself a lost boy from sudan. If ican read this book despites of English being my second langauge, anyone can read this book and benefit from it. sam.

    An Amazing Guy !!

I think Wayne Dyer has been given a gift of wisdom, from above. His message of love and peace, is one that I think pleases God. There are few people who have obtained his level of success, and yet remain with no ego problem. This book is a real winner.
