All Music Guide - Jonathan Widran
Perry isn't one of country's household names, but if this disc is any indication, he's definitely one of the most spiritual. His guttural drawl is in all its glory creating something of an ultimate country gospel affair, choosing songs that were family and childhood favorites and giving them fresh arrangements. He wraps up everything, from very to less-familiar tunes, with a gentle yet emotional harmonically rich take on "Amazing Grace." His heaven-bound heart has a special mission in that both his parents and his daughter have passed away. In this context, the songs take on a deeper meaning.
