Inspirational Poetry & Prose for Cancer Patients

Praise Report

Absolutely beautiful and soul stirring. Cancer affects us all. I have personally lost loved ones to this horrific disease. It is difficult to watch someone you love, suffer from such a debilitating illness. Within my own family, we have many cancer survivors that have battled many forms of this disease. Thank you for celebrating the strength, beauty and courage in each cancer survivor and those that have fought the fight. Thank you for honoring their spirit. Your poetic inspiration is truly healing.
Zakiya Penny, Director/Founder Sabayet Foundation

I am speechless! Thank you my friend! As I approach my 20 year cancer-free anniversary, you have written such an amazing tribute to all who have fought the breast cancer fight! I love you from the bottom of my heart all the way to the top!!!
Judy Pottgen, Pittsburg USA

John Adombila, Poet & Nurse from -GHANA West Africa

Wow! Wilson, you truly are a poet in the classical sense! Beautiful! A person once said, "You have to have cancer, to truly know cancer" You are one, that can beg to differ. Everyone should see it like you!
Lori Robinson, USA

I don't think you ever knew this Wilson, but I am also a breast cancer 'survivor' [4 years]... so I thank you for this lovely honoring dear heart.
Audrey Lou Chambers, Utah USA

Wilson, you make room in poetry to include anyone who is taking chemotherapy. I don't work in oncology unit but I've seen people who are on chemo. The look on their faces eats me alive and makes my eyes watery. How you put the words together in this beautiful poetry is amazing. You are so thoughtful. I wish I could read this to anyone who's on chemo, I may need to translate it though in my native language. May God bless you!
Bethlehem Asrat, Poetess & Nurse from Addis Ababa, ETHIOPIA

My dear poetic friend has touched all our hearts one way or the other, God has touched you so deeply. I'm proud of you Wilson. This time my liquid sunshine swelled in my eyes then began overflowing, nothing could hold them back. Thank you for the healing words for cancer survivors. You have touched many and my family, fondly.
Donna Meyer, Wisconsin USA

About the Author

Wilson Ayinbangya Amooro, known internationally as Wilson the Poet, has won recognition for creating poetry that speaks deeply of the human experience. Drawing from his own experiences of life, love, faith, and loss, his work has garnered him praise from awarding bodies and the appreciation of his fans. He began writing in 2003 at the age of 14, when his first piece entitled "Mother's Love" won him the second runner up prize in a national competition organized by Nestle Ghana Limited. He continued to write poetry, and began gaining more exposure in 2013 when his work received acknowledgment by the United Nations via the International Organization for Migration (IOM). That year he was featured on Top Radio 103.1 in Accra, Ghana, and in the annual edition of Gong Gong Magazine. His poetry has been featured in the poetry anthology "Breaking Silence: Poetic Lifeline From Slavery to Love." His work can also be found in the Amazon-published anthology "Nelson Mandela Tributes," and he regularly video blogs performances of his works. Wilson is an active member of Poetry Foundation Ghana, and the Ghana-based People of Equal Thoughts and Spirit (P.O.E.T.S).

He is also a CosmiKids Ghana representative and Hunter School friend in New Hampshire, USA. As a published poet and author, Wilson is launching a permaculture poetry contest with middle and upper school students in deprived schools across Ghana. Hunter's School (P4) Pen Pal Project is a global youth collaborative celebrating children and nature. Bringing together schools and organizations from across the globe for sharing and learning. He and the Development Director of the Hunter School will be publishing a book of children’s poetry and photos of the experience.

Aside from writing poetry, Wilson is also passionate about astronomy. He founded Young Astronomers Ghana in 2010, which is still active today under Ghana Planetarium school clubs.. As a profession, he is a practicing nurse. He also has a "Naming X" merit from organization Father's Film U.K.

In 2014, he became the maiden special guest speaker and subsequently rose to be a member of Board of Directors for the Aaron Manvel Foundation for the Advancement of West African Men.
In the same year, Radio Universe 105.7 MHz the voice of University of Ghana featured him as a guest on their talk show ‘Read a Book’

Wilson's philosophy of life and work can be summed up in a simple quote:
‘’The more I love, the more I grow; the more I grow, the more I love’’---Wilson the Poet
Wilson's artful way of crafting words from the raw materials of personal experience and emotion continues to win him fans. His poetry is a testament to his life, and also serves as a touchstone for all those who read and relate to his words.
