About the Author

Claudreen Jackson is a retired special education teacher from Detroit Public Schools who taught students with learning disabilities. Among other honors, she was twice a finalist Michigan Teacher of the Year, as well as, twice a finalist for Television Stations WDIV's Outstanding Teacher Ward.

Before teaching, Claudreen was an advocate on a state wide level for people with disabilites in the State of Michigan. She served on many committees, including appointments by both Governers Blachard and Engler to their advisory council, The Michigan State Planning Council for Developmental Disabilities. She was a memeber of the State Board of Directors of the Michigan Society for Autistic Citizens (Now Autism Soiety of Michigan). She served as the president of the Wayne County Chapter and as member of the United Foundation Speaker's Bureau. During this time in 1987 and 1988 she produced and hosted an award winning cable television show about autism, :My Piece of the Puzzle."
