Overview

L. P. Dover’s tantalizing Second Chances series scores once again as the Carolina Cougars’ infamous bad boy takes a shot at seducing a driven career woman who’s supposed to be out of bounds.

Trying to live down his very public indiscretions, Carolina Cougars kicker Jaxon Reed feels like the most hated man in the NFL. Fans and teammates alike treat him with the disrespect he figures he deserves. Unfortunately for them, Jaxon’s no easy target. As payback, he sets his sights on the quarterback’s sister: a sultry brunette who’s curvy, confident, and sexy as hell. But what begins as a revenge fling turns into so much more—a lesson in humanity, and in love.

Bristol Thomas doesn’t have time for games, especially those played by her brother’s Neanderthal teammates. A talented interior designer with lofty goals, she doesn’t know the first thing about football, or Jaxon—except that he’s exactly the type of man she usually avoids. But when his deep laugh and deeper kisses break through her walls, she becomes the target of a fan who’s obsessed with Jaxon. Now she needs to know that Jaxon has her back . . . because he already has her heart.

Dover packs an emotional punch with her third contemporary Second Chances sports romance (after Defending Hayden), set in Charlotte, N.C. Pro football player Jaxon “Jax” Reed is adamant about not getting entangled in emotional relationships. Then he falls hard for interior designer Bristol Thomas, not realizing that she’s the sister of his most-hated teammate. After a cheating football player breaks her heart, the last thing Bristol wants is a relationship with a pro athlete, so Jax hires her to decorate his house as a way of getting closer to her. Pressures mount on all sides: Jax’s dying mother is thrilled that her commitment-phobic son has finally met his match, and a vicious woman with whom he had a one-night stand threatens to ruin the nascent relationship. At first, Jax is extremely hard to like; he’s the stereotypical jerk athlete who sleeps with anything in a skirt and thinks he’s God’s gift to women. But his vulnerability soon begins to show, particularly with his love for his mother and his relationship with Bristol. Bristol is both sassy and sweet, and easy to relate to. Deft plotting and a hair-raising finale elevate this pulse-pounding tale. Agent: Marisa Corvisiero, Corvisiero Literary. (Dec.)

So I read Defending Hayden (which came a couple of books before this one) and while I liked it, I didn’t love it. There were some issues for me with the insta-love and how the characters reacted to it. The rest of the story, including the suspense element, worked well but the actions of the characters kept me from being fully vested. But I definitely remember Jax and when I saw that he got a story I just had to read it. Jax has done some very bad things for some very stupid reasons but he’s working to be a better teammate and friend. Although he still slips up occasionally :) Like when he meets a hot girl at a restaurant bar only to realize that she knows his rival on the team. Yeah … too hard for him to resist! But time spent with Bristol quickly has him rethinking his plans to use her against his teammate. She’s sexy, smart and fun, and the one-night stand king quickly finds himself thinking of a future with her. Like with the previous book these two fell in love just a tiny bit too quickly for my taste. They barely spent any time together at all before they started thinking long term but once again if you set that aside the rest of the story is really enjoyable. The parts with Jax’s stalker are obvious but that doesn’t stop it from working well with the rest of the story. Not one of my top stories but definitely an enjoyable read. And readers who have liked the other books in the series will absolutely love this one too. *** I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s. ***

This is the ninth book in the Second Chances series but can be read as a stand alone novel. Jaxon is a football player who tried to break up another couple in this series and is still paying the price for his actions. He has changed and is slowing making amends and changing. He is even accepted now by most of his team. When the team gets a new quarterback who rubs Jaxon the wrong way Jaxon reverts to his old ways. Bristol is the new quarterback's sister. She also has been burned before by another NFL player. Jaxon initially hides who he is and they begin a relationship. Jason majorly falls for Bristol and "gets" how important she is to him and why his past choices hurt others badly. They overcome their secrets and disapproval from others along with a stalker from Jaxon's past and have their HEA. Another fun read in the Second Chances series.

Intended for Bristol starts where Defending Hayden and Catching Summer ends and features the story of Jaxon Reed, star kicker and all around jerk. I don't want to spoil either novel, but Jaxon has a lot of growth and maturing to do. He realizes his mistakes and starts to redeem himself by making friends on the team and trying to keep his nose clean. The Cougars have to replace their quarterback and Jax takes an instant dislike to him. At the same time, Jaxon meets Bristol, a talented interior designer. He would like to pursue her, but has to work to get her in his house. Little does he realize that Bristol is the little sister of the new quarterback. As the story progresses, both Bristol and Jax have a lot of obstacles to overcome to be together. Like other reviewers, I really didn't like Jaxon in the previous novels, but Ms. Bristol accomplished the impossible, because by the end of I was rooting for Jax to have his happy ending. If you are a fan of sport romances, the Second Chance series is for you! Intended For Bristol is an awesome addition to the series and I was happy to review it after I got a free copy of the book.

Jaxon sure comes off as a dirtbag to start. As his history is revealed, I came to like him more. He has created issues for others on the team, but this story is about his taming. Bristol fights for his love when she realizes how much Jaxon means to her. I loved the strength she showed when dealing with the other teammates and a stalker. This is part of a series, and I have enjoyed all of the stories including this one. I recommend this story and series. I received a copy of this book through Netgalley, and this is my unsolicited review.

I enjoyed this book overall but there were some slow moving parts to it. I felt the inner dialogue was repeated at times. That being said I thought the story was interesting & the characters well developed. I like that the story was told from both Bristol & Jaxon's point of view. This was the first book I've read by L.P. Dover but will be reading more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

I was given ARC copy for review by Netgalley and Loveswept. Jaxon Reed is hated by all his teammates for all he did in the past, but he is trying to make up for his mistakes. Bristol Thomas just doesn't like football players. Meeting Jaxon and not knowing that he's a footballplayer is . Will Jaxon risk Bristol finding out and losing her or telling her the truth? Will these two get together or not!!!

Sizzling Chemistry, emotional and suspense? This is a sports romance about the troublemaker, the ladies man of the team. Jaxon Reed is one of the best kickers in the league, but he hasn't made it easy on himself with his teammates. He has done some terrible things to them, which has lead to a reputation of one of the worst on his team. As he works to redeem himself with his team, he is sidelined, when a new quarterback that he doesn't like, Ryan Delaney joins the team. Jaxon quickly reverts back to his old ways to get to the arrogant quarterback. Bristol Thomas works for a prestigious architectural firm, and moved to Carolina about a year ago to get away from a cheating ex boyfriend who really did a number on her. He was a professional football player in Texas and she has no intentions of being with another football player ever again. When her half brother is traded to the Carolina Cougars she is excited to see him again and goes to meet him at a bar where the players hang out. Waiting for her brother at the bar, Bristol meets a gorgeous man in an Armani suit with beautiful amber eyes and there is an instant attraction, but when he leaves to takes a call she doesn't know if she will see him again. When Jaxon comes back to find the beautiful Bristol with the arrogant Ryan, he knows now what he must do to get over on him, take his girl away. But as Jaxon sets his plan in action he doesn't count on one thing, falling for the beautiful Bristol. But what will happen when Bristol finds out who Jaxon really is? Will Bristol forgive his lies? But there are also some twists and turns that will keep you in suspense as Jaxon's past indiscretions may ruin his future. I voluntarily agreed to receive a ARC through NetGalley and post a honest review.

I really love this series and this book is one of the best! Jax was introduced in previous books and he is a BAD BOY. This has not changed in this book although once Bristol tames him a bit he seems to be redeemed. The characters are well written and absolutely fabulous together. This book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. I recommend this one along with the others in the series. **Received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley**

I went into this book not liking Jax very much so there was going to have be a lot of redemption needed for me to root for him. In the beginning, I thought redemption might be a stretch but maybe I could like him a little bit. It takes a talented author to turn a hated character into a loved one, and this author is definitely that talented. By the time this book was finished, I loved Jax! Jaxon Reed is the kicker for the Carolina Cougars. While he may be the best in the league, he's more well-known and hated for his antics off the field. When a new quarterback joins the team with his own bad reputation, Jax is determined to take him down a peg. Bristol Thomas is determined to become the best interior designed in North Carolina and she has zero interest in dating game-playing athletes. When Jax breaks through Bristol's walls, he'll do whatever it takes to stay in her life. I loved this story so much, which was definitely a surprise since I didn't like Jax at all when I started the book. I was great to meet the man behind the bad behavior. Jax is a devoted family man and dedicated friend. Bristol is strong and fights for what she wants and deserves. These two were perfect for each other. The suspense of Jax's stalker kept me on the edge of seat, hoping everyone came out ok. I'm hoping the rest of the Cougars get to have their story told!! *This is my voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy*

Bristol Thomas doesn't date football players...actually she despises them, especially after she had one completely annihilate her heart. Her ex did a number on her, and from that point on she decided no more athletes, but she didn't account for a man quite like Jaxon Reed. The minute they meet the sparks start flying... but once she learns who he really there sure to fizzle! Jaxon Reed is turning over a new leaf and attempting to show his friends and teammates that he is really a good guy, and is trying really hard to redeem himself after his past transgressions. He's ready to shed his playboy reputation, and find something a little more permanent, something he can be proud of, and the minute he meets Bristol he knows he's found the perfect girl... problem is she completely despises his profession. And she just so happens to be his teammates sister, which pretty much makes her off limits... Barely a paragraph into this delectable story and I was completely consumed, and left with the insatiable urge for more!! Bristol and Jaxon pulled me into their world and had me completely entranced by every spoken word. It was evident from the very beginning that these two were definitely a match made in literary heaven, the intense chemistry they shared could be felt from their first encounter, and continued to burn intently until the very end. I highly recommend you give this read a try, it is one of those stories that will stir your emotions, make you swoon, and linger with you long after the last page has been turned! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

Intended for Bristol...is the bomb!! I was waiting for Jax's story...and L.P. Dover did not disappoint. Jax was never one to settle down. He needed to find the right woman. Bristol came along and everything changes for Jax. This story is filled with passion, mystery and second chances. You will love seeing how it all plays out between Jax and Bristol. You will not be disappointed!!

Even Bad Boys Can Get The Good.... Jaxon Reed is one of those characters that is so bad and has done some really ugly things that you just don't think he could ever be a good person. Then you get an author like LP Dover who is more than happy to prove you wrong. There were some very touching emotional scenes in here that would move anyone. You also get mystery and suspense. So, Ms. Dover wrote the perfect book for Jaxon Reed and Bristol Thomas. You will be glad you read it, especially if you read the earlier books in this series.

Sports Romance! I was given an advanced copy of this book to write an honest review for Netgalley and Cocktails and Books. I have enjoyed reading all of the books in L. P. Dover’s Second Chances series and was excited to read INTENDED FOR BRISTOL. It is a story about Jaxon, a professional football player with the Carolina Cougars and Bristol, an interior designer. Jaxon is the bad boy of the team and his attitude and decisions have caused some problems in the past, although he is trying to make some changes and become a better person. Jaxon has a reputation with the ladies and has never been interested in a long term relationship, until he meets Bristol. Bristol loves her job and spends most of her time working and leaves little time for dating. She dated a football player and he broke her heart so she doesn't want anything to do with athletes, especially football players. I liked Bristol, she is a nice person and at times, I wondered what she saw in Jaxon. This story is told from both of their points of view, which I like because I can understand the motivation of both of the characters. Jaxon and Bristol are two people who try to find love and happiness together, although Jason's lies and other people try to keep them apart. The only problem I had with this story was connecting to Jaxon. I didn't like his attitude and his behavior, although I did admire him for trying to change. This is a fun and entertaining story and if you like sports romances, you will enjoy this one. I can't wait to read more books in this series about the guys on the Carolina Cougars football team.

Intended for Bristol by L.P. Dover.....This book was another fantastic story that kept me turning pages and will hit all your emotion buttons. There was so much going on with, mystery, hot football players, some suspense, hot sex scenes and emotions everywhere, what more can you ask for. Jaxon, a hot NFL kicker, only does one night stands and not very nice kind of full of himself. Bristol, a beautiful interior designer and had her heart broken by an NFL player has sworn off athletes. Will Jaxon be able to break through Bristol's barrier? Jaxon also has Bristol's brother to get through. L.P. Dover is one of my favorite authors, I can never go wrong with her book and this one is no different. I will definitely want to read this book, it is amazing. I voluntarily reviewed an advance readers copy of this book from publisher via NetGalley.

Jaxon and Bristol have sparks at first sight. Jaxon doesn't have great intentions about Bristol and wants to use her to get even with their new quarterback, Ryan. Jaxon finds out that Bristol is Ryan's step-sister and begins to get to know her. Bristol has sworn off football players because of what happened with an ex and doesn't have a clue who Jaxon really is. Jaxon has come a long way throughout this series and has tried to turn over a new leaf. Jaxon knows he needs to come clean in order to have any chance with Bristol. Bristol starts to fall for him and has high hopes for their future. Jaxon suffers a personal loss and it helps to settle him down to know Bristol is there for him. Between Ryan and an ex-stalker (Sadie) these two are really put through the ringer. I did like the plot twists and was quite happy with how the story flowed. It was well done and I was grateful for the opportunity to be able to read this courtesy of NetGalley.

Jaxon Reed has a lot to atone for. He's the jerk on the team that has pulled some pretty awful stunts on his team mates because of jealousy. Just when you think he has finally learned his lesson, he decides to mess with the new quarterback on the team by getting involved with the QB's sister. What he wasn't expecting was to fall in love with her. Jaxon was a pretty hard character to fall in love with. He has done some pretty mean things. While he seemed to try to be better, his jerkiness would still come out to play. It took until the last quarter of the book before I felt like I could even like his character. Bristol was a sweetheart and ultimately the reason Jaxon became a better man. While this is book 8 in the series, it can be read on its own. ARC provided by NetGalley.

3 1/2 out of 5 stars This book was like Ms Dover’s other books - a little suspenseful, alpha-male lead, plenty of romance, and family (not all by blood). I’ve spent several books disliking Jaxon Reed. He always seemed like the bad guy, but reading his story, I want to go back and try to love him a little more in the earlier books. This is the first book where we meet Bristol Thomas, but she fits right in with the other women in the Second Chances series. The thing I didn’t like about this book was that it was predictable from the very beginning. I knew who the bad guy - or girl - was early on and was sure I knew how it was all going to play out...which has been a pattern in these books for me. AND then the fact that Bristol was all-in and totally out of the relationship so many times in the book made me a little crazy, too. Overall, it was a good story and I will continue to read this author. *** I reviewed this book based on an advance copy via NetGalley ***

***4 ‘It's all about Jaxson’ Stars*** Jaxon has been that character that I’ve been dying to know more about since reading Catching Summer (my first LP Dover book). Never mind that he’s been the biggest a$$hat ever, which is a huge understatement, but he was the one that captured my interest and then seeing where he was at in Defending Hayden I was more than ready for his story and I wasn’t disappointed! I loved finding out what made him tick and watch as he changed his outlook on the way he was living his life. Now, I have to make a little confession here, when I wrote “It’s all about Jaxson” I really meant it. Much of, if not all of my enjoyment of this book was because of Jaxson, everything else felt more like vehicles to help him grow as a person than anything else for me, so didn’t really factor to much into my rating. It really was All. About. Jaxson. But this isn’t to say I didn’t like any of it. Take Bristol. I actually liked her. I loved her honesty and how upfront she was with Jax about where she was at in regards to getting into a relationship and why she was hesitant. She was sweet, witty and had an inner strength that I loved. If you’ve read any of the Second Chance books you’ll know that things tend to happen quickly when it comes to the MC’s relationship, and while it’s no different here in general, I did like how it wasn’t an insta-love situation. There was insta-attraction and insta-interest between Jax and Bristol, but they did get to know about it each other, at least in one sense, before jumping into the ‘I Love You’s’. The whole revenge thing wasn’t as intense as I thought it would be, but did add a good dose of drama and anticipation to the story about how Bristol would find out about it. There is also a little plot twist thrown into their relationship and I’m on the fence about how I really feel about it, I have to say I liked how the resolution to it wasn’t sugar coated in any way. But while all of the above was enjoyable, it was all about Jaxson. I love it when an author can take the a$$hat of the series, show me what makes them tick and have them evolve into a character that I adore without giving them a complete makeover and that’s what happened here. Jaxson hasn’t gone soft, his confidence that borderlines on arrogance is still intact, but he’s slowly coming to realize that he can have so much more if he’d just be himself and not constantly try to poke, prod and bait people all the time. And if Intended for Bristol is the first book of this series that you are reading, or if you’ve skipped a couple, I must insist that you read Catching Summer and Defending Hayden first. Ms. Dover does a good job at getting the reader caught up with all the crazy that happened, but that the impact of Jaxson’s evolution won’t be as intense, or satisfying. Intended for Bristol was an enjoyable read overall. There were some spots that dragged for me, but that had to do more with the fact that Jaxson wasn’t apart of them than anything else. I enjoyed spending time with Derek, Hayden, Evan, Aaron and the rest of the characters as well as getting introduced to a few new faces and am interested to see who will be next up on the chopping block. ~ Copy received from the publisher via NetGalley & reviewed voluntarily ~

Intended for Bristol is a fun, sexy sports romance. Jaxon Reed is the bad boy kicker for the Carolina Cougars and doesn’t get along with the team’s new quarterback, Ryan Delaney. He meets Ryan’s sister, Bristol Thomas, and decides to use her to get back at Ryan. The problem is that when he gets to know Bristol, he realizes that for the first time ever he has real feelings for a woman. She does not trust football players, so Jaxon knows he will lose her when she discovers the reason he started a relationship with her. He's also dealing with his mother who has terminal cancer and a one night stand turned stalker. Life is a bit complicated for Jaxon right now. Intended for Bristol was a quick, great read. Jaxon and Bristol had great chemistry, and the love scenes were hot. The only weakness was the Jaxon’s stalker storyline; it just felt like an unnecessary addition. Overall, I would definitely recommend Intended for Bristol. ARC provided by publisher via Netgalley, but no one made me write this review and my opinions are honest and my own.

If you’ve been reading L.P. Dover's Second Chances series, then like me you’ve probably been waiting and wanting bad boy Jaxon Reed's story. And like me, you’ve been anxious to finally meet the girl who would tame the NFL Carolina Cougar womanizer, Jaxon. Bristol Thomas moved to Charlotte, North Carolina a year ago and works for M&M Architectural Design, where she’s an interior designer. Bristol left Texas and her past with her cheating boyfriend, a NFL wide receiver for Dallas, behind her, and she’s learned her lesson about dating an athlete: according to her, you just don't. Jaxon seems to never learn his lesson when it comes to being the NFL bad boy. But when Jaxon goes after the new Carolina Cougar quarterback's sister, it's Jaxon who’s going to learn that love doesn’t play games when it comes to the heart—a heart he never knew he had until Bristol. The only thing now that Jaxon wants is his second chance, but his bad boy past is coming after him and the woman he loves. Intended for Bristol is a heart-touching, sexy story where even the bad boy deserves to be loved and get his second chance. Definitely a must read.

3.5 Stars!! Told from dual points of view, Intended for Bristol follows the story of Jaxson and Bristol. Jaxson has made a lot of mistakes in his life. He’s made enemies out of his teammates and has the title of the NFL’s most hated player. However, there is more to Jaxson than meets the eye and it’s just going to take the right woman for everyone to see just how amazing and different Jaxson really is….Bristol doesn’t play games and doesn’t like football players. Burned from the past, Bristol avoids football at all costs. She had no idea that meeting Jaxson was about to turn her entire world upside down. Overall, I thought this was an enjoyable read. It was a super quick read. One that you can easily finish in just a few hours. I liked Jaxson and Bristol right away. Jaxson was so cocky, I couldn’t wait for the right woman to walk into his life and make him fall. I thought that Bristol was a great match for him. She was a no nonsense type of girl, who wasn’t about to waste her time on a player. She was smart and when she loved, she loved with everything that she had. She made Jaxson open his eyes and see that there is more to life than silly rivals and that love can bring out sides of you that you don’t even know exists. There were a few bumps along the way, but honestly, this was an en enjoyable read for me. Bristol and Jaxson’s story captured my interest and had me turning the pages quickly, to see how things were going to turn out. I loved that this wasn’t just a sports romance, but it was also a story of redemption. Intended for Bristol was a quick and easy read for me. It was a nice second chance/sports romance. I think it had a nice balance of drama and romance. I loved that there was also some suspense and a really great, unexpected twist.
