Overview

Teresa of Avila's Interior Castle is one of the most celebrated books of Christian mysticism ever written. In this new edition, the classic translation by E. Allison Peers is united with fresh spiritual commentary from Dennis Billy, C.Ss.R., making it the only edition of Interior Castle to provide spiritual nourishment in an accessible form while remaining completely faithful to Teresa's mystical vision.

Remarkably simple in both style and structure, Teresa begins Interior Castle with the vision of the soul as a "castle made of a single diamond...in which there are many rooms, just as in Heaven there are many mansions." Built on this image of the great worth and depth of the soul, Teresa constructs a work of stunning spiritual and psychological wisdom. Dennis Billy breathes fresh air into this timeless work with a spiritually focused commentary that examines Teresa's thought in its historical context and summarizes her teaching in a brief and straightforward manner.

This classic text of Teresa of Avila, joined with the modern spiritual commentary of Dennis Billy, offers a journey of the soul inward through greater self-knowledge and spiritual blessings toward our ultimate goal: union with God.

There is no way that anything that St. Teresa of Avila wrote won't be of the highest caliber. The book itself is beautifully done and the painting on the cover, which is one of the most beautiful of the Saint, has no acknowledgment. I would love to know who painted it. But, what a value for this book. I had always wanted to read, and own a copy of Interior Castle, and I have it for a really good price. Thanks Barnes and Noble. Kevin McCombs

This book should be read. It is one of my most favorite devotional classics. Read it slow, take your time. Open up and let it change your life

This is an important classic devotional book in which Saint Teresa of Avila, the doctor of the Church wrote about the inner journey of the soul towards the divine union. Please read this book slowly, meditate on her inspired words, and allow yourself be touched by God's Love and be changed.

After reading 'Entering the Castle' several times over the past 3 or so years, I finally sat down and read the book that influence Carolyn. The book originally was written to Sisters of the Convent where St. Teresa resided - however when one reads what is said, one knows immediately that it was written to them. Truly powerful - life changing - and beyond profound.
