Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sara Lorimer
"To go online means you are using the Internet," explains author Lisa Herrington in this easy-to-read book. Although "you can find facts and play games by going online...being safe is important." Young readers are warned to visit only web sites that an adult says they can, to realize that they should not believe everything they see online, that they should not click on pop-up boxes, and not to tell strangers their names or any personal information about themselves. Readers are advised not to let friends pressure them into breaking the rules and to tell an adult if someone they do not know tries to talk online. While children young enough for this book should not be online on their own at all, this book lays a good foundation for understanding safety when they get older. The full-color, full-page photographs illustrating each tip show a racially-diverse range of children and adults, and both boys and girls are shown using the computers. From the "Rookie Read-About Safety" series. Reviewer: Sara Lorimer
