"Faeries are not all sweet and innocent,
like your people have suggested
for several hundreds of years.
We are not all female,
and harmless; with flowers for clothing
and cute, pointy ears.
We are not here for your amusement,
or to do your bidding!
We do not flit about,

"Faeries are not all sweet and innocent,

We are not all female,

We are not here for your amusement,
or to do your bidding!

In this surreal fantasy, a reporter is thrilled but anxious to interview the King of the Fae. It's been one-hundred years since the last time a human has had this honor, and a lot of misinformation has accumulated since then--or has it?

Is "Interview With the Faerie" a poem or short story? It's up to the reader to decide...

Meet the Author

OBLIGATORY BIO STUFFI write speculative fiction from my little corner of Massachusetts, where I live with my tolerant husband, two mischievous black kittens, and two amazing kids. I'm a member of Broad Universe, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, encouraging, honoring, and celebrating women writers and editors in science fiction, fantasy, horror and other speculative genres. My poetry has been published in Tales of the Zombie War, The Wayfarer: A Journal of Contemplative Literature, Strong Verse, Eternal Haunted Summer, newWitch, Pagan Edge and High Coup Journal. I have an article in the anthology _Pagan Writers Presents Samhain_ and my first published short story "Essie" appeared in _Luna Station Quarterly_. My chapbook of poetry is due out in November 2013, and I am a contributor to the forthcoming Paganism 101.IMPORTANT INSIGHT STUFFBut what you really want to know is the important stuff, right? Here it is: I can be bribed with good-quality chocolate, Italian red wine, and superb espresso. I dislike people who are judgmental. I think the world is shades of gray (no reference to "the book" intended.). And I'm an Aquarian who enjoys romantic dinners and long walks on the beach.Oh, and I love books. And science. And science fiction. And books about science fiction and/or science.FUTURE PLANSI'm currently writing a novel about the teenage embodiment of the Goddess Kwan Yin. (You can find a snippet on my webpage.) I have another novel on hiatus, and am writing my take on the zombie trope as a short story.Although I've spent most of my life writing (in my head, if not on paper), I've earned degrees in Communication and Sociology in lieu of anything "literary." Yup, I've got a Bachelor's in Communication Theory and a Master's in Sociology. Because that's how I roll. Why take a straight path to something when you can zig-zag along, wasting time--er, gaining experience--and annoying your loved ones in the process.
