Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
This pleasant 1858 romance opens with the wedding of the last of Lady Grace Warren's six sisters. It is a happy celebration for everyone except Grace. Now that she has arranged for all her sisters to wed men they love, she must face a fate worse than death. Her father, the Earl of Portsmont, has promised his last unwed daughter to the violent and sexually depraved Baron Fentington in exchange for a hefty contribution to the Earl's bank account. But the desperate Grace has a plan. Certain that Fentington wants a virgin, she schemes with her friend Hannah, a courtesan, to dupe twice-widowed Vincent, Duke of Raeborn, into taking Grace's maidenhead. The plan works, perhaps too well or not well at all, depending on one's point of view. When principled Victor learns of the ruse, he insists on marrying Grace despite his vow to never again put a woman at risk of dying in childbirth. In the meantime the pair must dodge assassination attempts from vengeful Fentington. Landon (Not Mine to Give) executes her well crafted plot with the sure hand of the veteran romance writer. (Oct.)

This book is about death, sacrifice, being unwanted and how LOVE

This book is about death, sacrifice, being unwanted and how LOVE if right, can conquer all fears. Grace has lived her life to keep the promise she made to her dying mom. She raise her 6 sisters and fought for each one to marry for love. Her father, the earl, would only let her sisters marry if their husbands paid for it. Grace made sure all her sisters got that. To save her youngest sister, she agrees to marry a truly evil man. She goes to her oldest and only friend, Hannah to lose her virginity so the evil baron won't want her. Hannah is a famous courtesan and decide to help and decides that the lonely Vincent, the Duke of Reborn is the perfect candidate. Vincent has lost two wife and two children to childbirth and refuses to marry again and only uses prostitutes. Vincent goes to his weekly appointment to Madame Genevieve's and Hannah drugs him to relax him and hope he doesn't notices Grace's virginity. Grace and Vincent make love but Vincent does notice and loved every minute of it. He finds her and demands marriage if their is an baby and she is so pregnant. This story then gets wild with murder attempts at Vincent and Grace. Who is trying to kill them? Will they ever admit their love for each other before it is to late? Will Grace give Vincent is heir and live? Will their LOVE conquer all? You have to read it to find out. I do wish there was some more steamy and sexy scenes. I give this book 4 fingers up and 7 toes.
