It’s been a few months since I’ve had an all-consuming reading experience, but Chanel Cleeton’s Into the Blue has ended my fangirling dry spell. If you’re a fan of contemporary second chance romances, you will want to move this book to the top of your TBR! The second novel in the Wild Aces series, it can be read as a standalone; but I would recommend reading the first installment, Fly with Me, before diving into this one as you’ll have a deeper understanding of Eric’s backstory. Into the Blue is made up of everything that I love in second chance romances. Becca and Eric are such relatable characters that I became almost immediately invested in their pursuit of a happily ever after. They carry the weight of ten years of unresolved emotional baggage and Cleeton did a skillful job of infusing their reunion with heartfelt angst. Each feeling exchanged between this couple was palpable and I FELT every single one. For as much as this was a second chance romance, it was also a second chance at self-discovery for Becca and Eric. This exploration of what it means to want something when in your early twenties and then having to reconcile that continued want after ten years of growth brought added layers of depth to an already strong story. Simply put, I fell in love with Into the Blue – the characters, the writing, the fact that the hero fought, truly, honestly, and steadfastly fought, to win back the love of his life. There are very few books where I highlight entire chapters, but the book’s climax was so emotionally impactful that I will without a doubt be going back for re-reads of this chapter again in the future. Cleeton has deservedly earned a spot on my automatic one-click author list and I can’t wait for the next book in this series because it’s shaping up to be one hell of a hard-won HEA!

I dub Chanel Cleeton "Queen of the feels!" Once again she delivers an amazing story about two people who seem like they have no way to be together but ultimately find a way to work it out. One of main things I love about Ms. Cleeton is her ability to present both sides of the story in such a way that you can *feel* how the struggle is real and how it seems impossible for the hero and heroine to find a compromise. It's a gift I'm glad she shares.

INTO THE BLUE is the second installment in Chanel Cleeton’s contemporary, adult WILD ACES military, erotic romance series focusing a group of U.S. Air Force fighter pilots known as the Wild Aces. This is fighter pilot Eric ‘Thor’ Jansen, and attorney Becca Madison’s second chance story line. INTO THE BLUE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous installment is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person points of view (Becca and Eric) INTO THE BLUE looks at the rekindling romance between attorney Becca Madison, and fighter pilot Eric Jansen. Ten years earlier Eric walked out of Becca’s life when his decision to join the Air Force interfered in Becca’s plans to go to law school. A broken engagement, and their plans for the future shattered until Eric’s return home to South Carolina ten years later, following a devastating loss that affected everyone on his team. Coming home meant coming back to Becca, and the possibility of starting over with the woman he has always loved. Eric and Becca had been high school sweethearts with a promise for the future but different goals, different directions in life, and Eric’s need to find himself found our couple at opposite ends. When neither one was willing to compromise, the ‘it-couple’ from South Carolina were no longer an item, but their love always simmered in the back of their minds. A rekindling romance, and the potential for change allows for the possibility of something more. The $ex scenes are intimate, provocative and intense. The secondary and supporting characters include all of Eric’s fellow fighter pilots including Jordan and Noah (book one). Noah is currently stationed in Korea but Jordan’s return home comes with exciting news. Alex ‘Easy’ Rogers returns pining for a woman who lost her heart to another man- a man who will be not be coming home. Easy’s story will be told next in ON BROKEN WINGS. The world building continues to focus on the fighter pilots: their assignments; their missions; their family and their lives. There is always the possibility that not everyone will return, and in this the couples struggle with the potential of broken hearts and broken lives. INTO THE BLUE is an emotional story line. The reader is pulled into the heartbreaking aftermath of one man’s decision to walk away from the woman he loves. The premise is passionate and compelling; the characters are fascinating and real; the romance is a second chance at forever. INTO THE BLUE is not as intense as FLY WITH ME but you can’t go wrong with a sexy fighter pilot who goes for what he wants.

It is no secret that I love Chanel Cleeton’s books. Her stories are fun and flirty with an emotional edge to hook you in deep. Into the Blue is a brilliant second installment in the Wild Aces series and by far my favorite. I am a sucker for a second chance romance story and this one is steeped in passion, heartache, and hope. Eric and Becca are brilliant. These two are so obviously made for each other and hard choices have to be made in order for a future to happen. The question in my mind while reading this book was never if these two characters were meant to be together. Instead I wondered how it would all work out. They are both so passionate about what they do that having one give up their dream in favor of the relationship seemed unfair. So often in romance stories someone, usually the female lead, gives up part of who she is to be with the man of her dreams. I am not saying this is necessarily a bad thing but sometimes it seems wrong. So naturally I was curious about what would come about. Well, there was no need to fear because Chanel made the relationship solid and the choices understood. The history and chemistry between Eric and Becca are perfect. Their passion is hot and their friendship is sweet. I loved their comradery and easy way with each other despite the looming confusion and heartache. One of my favorite things about this series so far is that there may be a main storyline happening but the other characters we have met in the Wild Aces series and those we will meet are all so intertwined in the story. The Wild Aces squad is a family and naturally their lives would be interconnected in brotherhood and friendship. Seeing those qualities play out and the important roles they play in each other’s lives adds something refreshing and foundational to the series. Chanel is building something bigger than the moment and I love getting to see it all start and grow. This series keeps getting better and better. I loved seeing glimpses of Jordan and Noah from Fly With Me. I am salivating and anxious for Easy’s story up next. I never want to Wild Aces series to end! Chanel Cleeton is surpassing all my expectations with this romance series and that is surprising considering they were already set so high with her past books. I have loved what I have read and cannot wait for even more.

After a devastating loss to his team, fighter pilot Eric Jansen is having a hard time dealing with the loss, and maintaining his focus while he is in the cockpit, so he decides a break from work is in order to get himself back on track. He thinks returning home to South Carolina might be just what he needs, but he has his reservations about facing what he left behind when he walked away ten years ago. Leaving his ex-fiance Becca behind was the hardest thing he's ever done, but he knew staying there with her wasn't the right thing for him at the time, he had dreams of accomplishing big things in the military and she wasn't willing to follow along, so he chose to walk away. Running into her a few weeks ago completely knocked his world off it's axis, and the minute their eye's connected everything he once felt for her came rushing back full force and he hasn't been able to stop thinking about her since. He knows letting her go was the biggest mistake of his life, one that he has paid dearly for over the years, but now he's ready to try and make it up to her, and try to find a place in her life again, and maybe back into heart... After a stressful week in the office Becca Madison was looking forward to a night out with the girls, and the minute she arrives at the bar and sees her friends talking to a group of handsome fighter pilots, she thinks her plans to unwind for the night just improved... that is until she comes face to face with her past. The minute they lock eyes, those old feelings hit her like a ton of bricks, and her heart and head are screaming for her to run, so she does, and hopes she is giving him a little taste of his own medicine while she does too! Seeing him again was something she wasn't prepared for, after all he walked away from her ten years ago and has never looked back, so she has spent the last ten years trying to move on and let go of what they had, and she thought she had done that. But seeing him again just proved her thought wrong, all those hurtful feelings are back full force, along with the lingering feelings of love she once had for him, and now she feels like she is back at square one again... and before she can start to tuck them away again, she learns he's back in town, and has agenda that involves her! The second I finished Fly With Me, the first installment in this series, I was desperate to dive right back into the world of the Wild Aces, and get myself better acquainted with another one of Ms. Cleeton's sexy fighter pilots!! There is something about these stories that grabs a hold of you from the very first paragraph, manages to captivate every ounce of your attention, and puts you front and center in these characters lives, as if every bit of it is real, and has you feeling every expressed emotion right along with them. For me, the best stories are the ones that hit you deep, have you literally feeling every written word on the page, and completely take control of every facet of your life while your with them, and this series has done that to me! These characters have struck a cord deep within me, and have taken me on a literary journey I have every intention of never letting go of, and I look forward to getting back to them very soon! Ms. Cleeton has created a true literary gem with this series, and I HIGHLY recommend you make a point to meet these characters, they'll pull you into their world, monopolize your every thought, and have you never wanting to let go!!

Another amazing book by this author! I’m so in love with this series, each character has something unique to them that just makes me so happy to be reading their stories. This book is about Thor and Becca, they were together in high school and college but then Thor decides that he wants to go into the military and suddenly things start to get complicated and he breaks up with Becca. Fast forward 10 years and now Becca and Thor are living separate lives, she is a lawyer and he flies with the Wild Aces squadron, but if you read the past book you know that there is a certain event that shakes the lives of these men and Thor is really in need of help and some well deserved rest, so he goes back home to his grandma and to Becca. The story is beautifully written, it has so much love but also so much heartache and I loved that Chanel didn’t just let Becca give up her entire life for Thor, I loved that there were heartfelt conversations between these two, that they were able to connect again and to forgive or at least understand each other a little better. I was lovely to see their relationship as adults and how much those interactions between two people in love change with age. I think I spent the entire book swooning over Thor and how wonderful he was and how he was willing to finally fight for her, their love and their future. I’m really looking forward to the next one in the series, I’m sure is going to be the death of me.

Chanel Cleeton is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors in contemporary romance. She doesn’t just write books. She writes stories that will captivate your heart and take you on journeys you never expected. Her latest book, Into The Blue is exactly what I want in a second chance romance. You see, when I read a second chance romance, I want all the feels. I want to connect with the characters. I want to feel their loss and their heartbreak. And with Into The Blue, I felt it all. Into The Blue gave me all the feels! I mean all of them. This book is so well written. It will captivate you from the very first page. From the very first page, you will be sucked into Eric and Becca’s story. And I gotta tell you, at that point, you might as well cancel all of your plans for the day, because you are not going to want to do anything else except for read this book. Chanel Cleeton has written this story and these characters in such a way that they don’t feel like characters in a book. They feel real. They feel like they are your friends and that you KNOW them. Their emotions are so strong and will feel so real, it will be as if they are your own. Eric and Becca’s story is a beautiful one of second chances. From the moment you meet these two, you can feel just how strong their feelings are for one another. That despite all the pain and time that has passed, there is still a spark there. You can’t help but root for these two and hope that they are able to find a way past all the hurt and try again. Eric…he messed up. He knows he did, but at the time, he thought he was making the right choice. He regretted his decision instantly and let his fear rule his life. However, once he saw the error of his ways, he stopped at nothing to win Becca back. Yes, he hurt her. Yes, he broke her heart, but this man worked so hard to win her back and regain her trust. And Becca….I connected with her instantly. We’ve all been hurt in this game of love, so I knew and understood where she was coming from. I thought her reactions were justified and even though she made him work for forgiveness, it was done in the right way. Again, just seeing these two together had me praying they could find a way to move past their pasts. Into The Blue is an amazing addition to The Wild Aces Series. It is a story of young love and the mistakes you make when you think you’re doing the right thing. It is a story about heartbreak and the struggle to move on. It is a story of hope and second chances. It is a story of forgiveness and fighting for what you want. It is a story about love and never giving up on that love, no matter how much time has gone by. Into The Blue was just amazing from start to finish. It was beautiful, touching and at times heartbreaking. I am a big fan of this series and can not wait to see whose story is up next in The Wild Aces Series.

Into the Blue is the second book in Chanel Cleeton’s Wild Aces series. Think ‘Top Gun’ but with a bit of a modern twist. Eric, call sign Thor, is finding things tough after the death of a colleague. It’s making him question his decisions, in and out of the air. When he runs into his ex-fiancee Becca at a teammate's bachelor party he’s struck with remorse over the way things ended between them. Taking a short leave of absence from his job as an F-16 pilot, he comes back to his home town to sort through the options for his future. But he's also determined to rekindle his friendship, and maybe more, with Becca. Becca nursed herself through a broken heart when Eric left her ten years earlier, picking up the pieces and moving on with her life. She put Eric into the past and carried on with her career plans of becoming a lawyer. Still single, seeing Eric again is a reminder of the hurt he caused her but also the good memories they shared. With Eric’s apology heartfelt, and his time at home limited, Becca must decide whether to throw caution to the winds and let him back in, or guard her heart against the man who could fly away again. Eric comes across as a smart, confident, level headed man – who happens to be dealing with a case of PTSD, even though he doesn’t want to admit it to himself. Still, he can’t deny that things don't feel right and that he’s not comfortable being in the cockpit. On meeting Becca again, he wishes that he'd handled things differently. At the time that he broke things off with Becca he just didn’t see their futures aligning. He took the quick way out, and went on to live his dream. But ten years later, his dream is no longer the same. Becca is a lovely woman who has dealt with issues of abandonment in her life. Her parents died tragically when she was young, and then Eric left her when they were in college. She realizes now in hindsight that she had a hand in pushing Eric away. He wasn’t ready for the commitment level that she wanted, and even though they were engaged, her idea of a perfect home and family life in their small town was her dream, not his. It’s understandable that she is reluctant to get involved with Eric again, even just as friends. But it’s so easy to forget the heartbreak when they are sitting and talking and laughing like they used to. Eric’s apology is sincere, both in deed and in action. He clearly still cares about Becca (and never stopped) and Becca, though she’s aware of the danger, can’t quite bury the part of her heart that Eric owns. The slow and sweet approach Eric makes to get Becca to give him another chance leads to some sensual and very sexy love scenes between them. He really is a genuinely nice guy and it’s impossible for her not to fall for him again. This story is a fine example of what works in a contemporary romance. A setting and plot that is believable, characters that are likable and engaging, modern conveniences that speak to today’s reader and a sexy and exciting romance – Into the Blue is a winner for me.

It’s a second-chance romance you don’t want to miss. Eric and Becca had a past – it was pretty amazing until it ended. What was supposed to be something beautiful and supposed to end in happy-ever-after turned out to be messy, painful and heartbreaking that brought the two of them apart. They were pretty young when they fell in love, and yet it was true, it was pure, until life got in a way and pulled them apart. Eric went to the air force and Becca started lawschool. For ten years, their paths haven’t crossed, even if they live in the same small town. But fate is about to push them together – it was time. Eric decided to have a break from work after the accident that happened. He decided to go home and find some time to relax and clear his mind. And perhaps to see the girl, or woman that held his heart for the very long time. The two characters are just easy to love. They are just perfect for each other. Eric is a great guy, he can be an a** sometimes, but he’s caring, thoughtful, and hot. Becca, on the other hand, is a strong, independent woman you’d simply adore. Despite their history together, no doubt the fire is still burning. Trying to get through their past was quite hard, especially for Becca. It was hard watching the two of them struggling to do it. Although the love is still there, but the painful memories would put it on the back seat most of the time. Nevertheless, I was glad when they finally decided to compromise and work things out. The two of them are older and wiser and more mature, they have already reached their goals and finally felt that they are worthy of each other. I had an amazing time reading it – I laughed, I squirmed, I got teary-eyed in some parts. It was a perfect mix of drama, steam and romance. Into the Blue is a fantastic addition to Chanel Cleeton’s series. A perfect story of second-chances, forgiveness, and healing.

Second-chance-at-love stories are my favorite, and this one did not disappoint! Becca and Eric have a lot to overcome: their history, their careers, the prying eyes of their small town, but I enjoyed watching them work through their feeling and issues like adults. As with the first book in the series, there is plenty of humor, heart, and heat. I am convinced this is what Chanel Cleeton was thinking when she wrote these books... Fly With Me: I will make you laugh until you cry. And you will love it. Into The Blue: I will make you laugh while simultaneously kicking you in the feels. And you will love it. On Broken Wings: And you will love it. But it's cool because Fighter Pilots.

The whole remaining squadron of the Wild Aces is still reeling from the tragic events in book 1. They try to deal with it but Eric, call sign Thor, finds it increasingly hard to focus. An almost accident makes him realize that he needs a time out, away from the job he loves to find solid ground again, to move on. After a chance run-in with his ex fiancée Becca he takes up the opportunity to go home and see where they stand, wanting to salvage the ties he cut loose a decade ago because they wanted different things out of life. His regret hasn't subsided in those ten years but will Becca be able to forgive him? Seeing her ex again after such a long time has left Becca angry and confused. And when he comes to his home town after a decade of absence she does everything she can to shut him out and put up walls against this different yet familiar Eric. He sneaks past Becca's walls though and soon she finds herself entangled with him again. Forgiving is hard, forgetting almost impossible, and nobody wants to be second fiddle to your guy's job. I have no idea how to put all my emotions for this book and the series into words. The heartbreak these two endured separated from the other because of one bad decision, the love that jumps from each page at you, the hope that is tangible, it all lured me in, hook, line and sinker and I just couldn't stop reading. Becca is an endearing heroine with a huge chip on her shoulder. Her strength is what defines her, so it's no surprise that forgiveness doesn't come easy to Becca but she is willing to work through the history that connects her with Eric. And so is he, he shows her with small and big gestures that he thinks the world of her. The way he treats Becca is achingly sweet. Eric is such a swoon-worthy hero. He has it all, the cockiness, the arrogance and the depth to make him doubt himself and his decisions. His remorse for cutting himself loose is in every word he says. With his heart in Becca's hands he is desperate to find a solution out of the mess he created otherwise it would mean ending up where they did those ten years ago. Their soul deep connection makes this story so worth reading. They try so hard to get past their messy history, it's beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. And then there is that lady parts-tingling attraction, the undeniable force that draws them together that makes you gasp and hold your breath. Their deep sexual need for one another is exciting and it almost makes you feel like an intruder. I loved their chemistry. At some point I was wondering how this would play out, with both of them being on completely different paths and not being able to stray from them. I couldn't see either of them give in...but I shouldn't have doubted that the author would get it right. When Becca finally realizes that things have changed from the impossibility of their love to the only way, it is mindblowingly sweet. You realize that these two had to go through the heartbreak to find a common path. They weren't in the same place when separated and only the time apart got them to where they had to be. Chanel Cleeton's writing style is fluid. The dialogues feel natural and you can't help sinking into the story and being swept away with it. I hope after this series finishes Chanel Cleeton will continue writing romance with fighter pilots. I have no idea why not more authors do it, there is so much potential, but I think if this author continues what she's doing she'll strike a rich vein.

This second book in the Wild Aces series is right up there in the hot category that I found in the first book Fly With Me. Ms Cleeton has once again delivered on the sexy, drop dead gorgeous men who are F-16 Fighter Pilots and the women who love them. Along with the mental eye candy she provides, the author also delivers on clever, whip smart dialogue and lots of witty banter...which I'm finding to be her trademark brand of writing. This is the story of Eric (call sign Thor) and Becca, the woman he was engaged to and left to join the Air Force, and become a fighter pilot, ten years ago. After a chance encounter, and ten years of no communication, Becca is thrown off balance when Eric is suddenly tossed back into her life. Though she tries to ward off his draw, she cannot ignore the heat he nearly scorches her with each time he is near. Ms Cleeton simply has a gift for creating explosive chemistry between her characters...the kind that jumps off the pages and grabs you, holding on tight until way past the end of the book. This is definitely one book that you'll think about long after you have finished reading it. I look forward to the third book in the Wild Aces series, Broken Wings, about Alex (call sign Easy) and Dani. Anyone who has read the first two books in the series will know what a phenomenal story this one will be. This book was provided by Netgalley for my honest review. (less)
