Katie Reus never fails to bring us an exciting and entertaining story. In INTO THE DARKNESS we get TWO stories! The characters are brilliant, the writing is brilliant. The alpha males are stubborn and sexy. The females are strong and fierce. I loved every word of it and I highly recommend any of the authors books. ***I was gifted an eBook copy from the publisher via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. I'm never disappointed when I read a book in the Darkness series, and this time is no different. Book 5 is as exciting and edge of your seat as the 1st. Two stories combined in this book, and both are equally present. I never feel like one is in the background. There is Conall, Alpha of the Petronella clan, and Rhea of the Stavros Pack. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and slowly building. Conall has been patient long enough, Rhea won't ever mate, ever. Not after what happened to her first mate to be, but Conall can not be put off any longer. Rory and Liberty, after meeting them in book 4 I was so excited to see them developing their relationship in this story. Rory is patient and will wait forever for Liberty. Liberty feels broken beyond repair, but Rory makes her feel almost normal, cherished. Rory slowly and surly works to build up Liberty to let her know how much she is trusted and cared for, to make her feel strong again. Both love stories made me crazy with wanting them to move forward, yet loving how completely they cared for one another, they just need to overcome some obstacles. I look forward to what comes next. * I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Romance is definitely in the air as is danger galore in this captivating paranormal urban fantasy read! Dragons loved treasure, that was not a myth about his kind, and Rhea was the greatest treasure of all. INTO THE DARKNESS by Katie Reus is an exciting, very enjoyable installment in the author's Darkness series! It's a two-for-one featuring a duo of captivating romances in one book. Oh my! Romance is definitely in the air as is danger galore. This tale comprises the steamy meshed stories of warrior wolf-shifter Rhea and alpha dragon Conall AND human Liberty and half-wolf, half-demon Rory. Even though INTO THE DARKNESS is the fifth book in the series, it can be completely enjoyed as a standalone. There are interconnected characters between all the books in this series, but Katie seamlessly fills in whatever previous historical information the reader may need to know to fully relish the story. As Bo's and Nyx's totally awesome weeklong wedding festivities get underway, a dark outside force targets the Stavros pack. Pack member Rhea has vowed to never mate again as she cannot be responsible for putting someone she loves at risk; However, Conall cannot imagine living without her and he's determined to show her that they are meant to be together. Liberty has come a long way since being rescued in the last book. After the abuse she suffered in the hell plane, Liberty believes she may be too broken to ever be fully functional; however, Rory is convinced that she is his sunshine and he will wait as long as it takes for her to understand that they belong together. Two couples with intertwined destinies made for a read that I simply could not put down! I loved all these characters. The two HEA story lines were well-written and played. With two hot romances, well-orchestrated suspense, mind-blowing, fast-paced action and plenty of dangerous sequences, this book kept me on the edge on my seat through-out. f my very favorite authors. I honestly believe that she cannot write a book that doesn't rock! Every book in this series has been a page-turning winner. I highly recommend INTO THE DARKNESS to anyone who enjoys paranormal urban fantasy romances teeming with perils and heat! My full review is posted at Reading Between The Wines Book Club. This story has great chemistry between the character. The packs and clans have a great sense of family that makes the story more enjoyable. Rhea is a strong warrior. Conall is a an Alpha. These two start as friends but one wants more. And is willing to go after it. Liberty is recovering from her time of capture. Rory is there to protect her. But he wants more. He knows it will take time. Time he is willing to give.

So loved this installment of the Darkness series. Two stories in one - Dragon shifter Conall and wolf shifter Rhea have been circling each other for months and have finally decided to get out of the friend zone. The threat to Rhea's pack sorta speeds up that process. Liberty and Rory are slowly exploring their feelings. After a traumatic kidnapping, Liberty is not sure she's strong enough to keep demon/shifter Rory, but Rory is willing to wait forever for his mate. This book was great. Red-hotness between Conall and Rhea, then slower, sweeter interactions between Rory and Liberty...until BOOM...it wasn't! As usual, the writing was superb, the action was packed, and the sexy was sin. ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.

Wasn't sure at first about having to follow two stories. But with the same focus, it was easy. I love this series, as well as others by Ms. Eden. I have convinced my friends to read this series and others by this author. Please read it!!

Into the Darkness offers twice the danger and twice the passion. Rhea has worked hard to become a fierce warrior for the Stavros wolf pack. She was abused once and she will never let herself be a victim again. Her life is finally on track. Until she falls in love with a dragon. Rhea needs to be strong. She can't allow her desire to mate with Conall, Alpha of the Petronilla clan put him in danger. She won't let anything happen to him because of her. Can Conall overcome her defenses and make her his? Next there is Liberty who was saved from a Hell realm. Rory was one of her rescuers. He has been at her side to help her recover, but the pain and fear have made her afraid. She knows that Rory, who is half-wolf and half-demon, would never hurt her and their is attraction is powerful. Can he convince her to be his? This was a suspenseful adventure that was impossible to put down. I loved the characters and the passionate romance. The setting was perfect, the pace lively and the plot intriguing. Who could ask for more? I know that when I read Katie Reus that I will be transported to the supernatural world where I will find heated sexual tension and stunning surprises. Into The Darkness is the latest installment in Katie Reus’ Darkness series. In this book, we have two stories in one, which I really appreciate over separate novellas. I enjoyed the interweaving of the stories. Conall and Rhea, he is an alpha dragon shifter and while she is a much valued member of Finn Stavros’ wolf pack. She is one of their trackers and warriors. Rory is half wolf and half demon and Liberty, who is human. Rory was one of the rescuers when Liberty was imprisoned in the Hell Realm. He has been drawn to her from the very first time he saw her, being there for her while giving her the patience she required to start to heal. This starts as Liberty is a party planner and working on an extravaganza of partying to celebrate the wedding of Nyx and Bo. It does not take long for the drama to start. When Finn’s pack is targeted and one of their own is kidnapped, they find that there is more to the reason behind it than first thought. This picks up right where the last book Hunted by Darkness left off. It also sets the stage for the next one. Katie’s books have engrossing plot lines; have sexual chemistry, great characters you care about, and the ability to want to keep you up at night to see what is going to happen. This is a great series from one of my favorite authors. This installment is actually two stories in one and each was well developed. Both heroines had been through similar experiences in the past that made them doubt their ability to have a healthy relationship with a man. But their respective Alpha males had different ideas and set out to prove it. Showing them that those experiences just made them stronger not weaker. Lots of action and suspense. I was given an ARC for an honest review.

This is my second Darkness book and tho it started slow for me, it turned into an excellent story....Two stories in one as a matter of fact. Rhea and Conall....She is afraid to ever mate again, with her past. Can Dragon shifter Conall convice her that the past is just that? Rory and Liberty.....He is half demon, half wolf and is in love with a human! One that he helped to rescue from a hell realm and has been protecting for the last 8 months or so. When a woman has been abused, can she bounce back? With the right man, heck ya! I absolutely love the diversity of the characters in this book... I was given an ARC for an honest review

Into the Darkness is the 5th book in this fantastic series and let me tell you they just keep getting better and better! Initially I was cautious on how this will play out considering were getting 2 couples in one book, how will she fit the entire courtship, bickering, the hotness and make it not feel rushed? alas, I should not have doubted Katie this was another book that blasted all my doubts away. Conall and Rhea was too cute,Conall was so sexy when he teases Rhea, also I loved how supporting and patient Conall was. Rhea has a dark past and he allowed her to do what she had to to get past it. He was sweet yet we still get our growly alpha too! yippee! Liberty and Rory, as you know Liberty has been through the ringer and Rory just wants to protect her. we see all his protectiveness in the forefront. Liberty is so strong, she pushes herself to move on and don't let her past dictate her life going forward. that's the thing I love about Katie's books I don't think I've ever read a heroine that has been TSTL (knocks on wood) and of course we get the gang and their shenanigans. I can't express how much I love this world she created where we get so many mythical creatures and hell realm and magic and hot hot men! Whoop whoop I'm so ready for the next book Katie! bring it on! ***Arc kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review***

4.5 stars---INTO THE DARKNESS is the fifth installment in Katie Reus’s contemporary, adult, DARKNESS paranormal romance series. As per the blurb INTO THE DARKNESS is one book, two stories about four people, fated mates, a wedding celebration, and an act of revenge-years in the making The reader was first introduced to the main characters (Rhea and Conall / Liberty and Rory) throughout the series; the females have struggled with loss, betrayal, and heartbreak; the males have been searching for something more. The characters are strong, colorful, animated and engaging. The $ex scenes are seductive, romantic and intense. Katie Reus is one of my favorite go-to authors. Her writing style and use of imagery pulls the reader into the story line-you become one with the characters-feeling their emotions, heartbreaks, wants and needs. The world building follows two love stories that interconnect when the Stavros Pack is targeted during the wedding festivities for Bo and Nyx. There is no loss of cohesion, no loss of emotional build up, and no loss of action when Katie blends two romances into one story-the flow and pacing are quick, even and never wanders into ‘filler’ territory. There are moments of humor and fun to offset the building danger. What ensues is the search for the person(s) responsible for the attacks, and the reason why. The angst and anxiety builds when one of their own goes missing, and the Pack is targeted once again. INTO THE DARKNESS is a story about hope, passion, and a look to the future while letting go of the past. There is intrigue, suspense and revenge; drama, passion and steamy $ex. Katie Reus will captivate your imagination with her sexy world of the supernatural.

This is an amazing read! ~~~So I’ve always wondered –and inwardly complained – how come supernatural creatures only pair up one at a time? It was like, is only one couple lucky enough to find their HEA at a time? Are they not supposed to find their mates until another does? If so, who goes first? Who goes last? And who gets to choose? The author of course does but that is kind of unfair, isn’t it? The fact of the matter is they probably write stories with only one couple reaching their HEA because as readers we like our stories long, I mean not too long that we’d lose interest but not too short that we’d chew their heads off for ripping us off of a good story (and money, of course) and we want our sole focus to be on them. Anyhow, Katy fulfilled my wish of seeing more than one couple finding L-O-V-E in one story, beautifully done in a way that only she knows how. Ok, so first of all, she was able to combine the two things I love about her writing, suspense and romance (obviously hehe) then, the stories are parallel to each other without trampling one another and helping the story move along. One villain. One team. Everyone doing what they do best to defeat the enemy. That’s what team works is all about. Now here, the villain's defeat felt a bit anticlimatic because it felt a bit rushed. Then again perhaps that was just me. Finally, the couples. Le swoon. Rhea and Connall. Katie’s dragons are protective but they are also tender and caring. Kind of a big bad wolf tending an injured lamb. Rhea is a warrior that learned the hard way who she was and what needed to be done. As an alpha, Connall was not only protective but overly so but he knew how and when to step back to let his lady deal with her own problems they best way she knew how. And the way they finally accepted each other, epic and hot! Liberty and Rory had been friends since he, his brothers, and his brother's mate saved her from a Hell realm. For Liberty the idea of supernatural creatures is still hard to accept but not that of Rory being in her life. And Rory is the kindest, most patient and caring half-demon, half-shifter willing to wait for as long as necessary until she’s ready to accept him as her mate. Every time I started reading about one couple I thought that one was my favorite until I started reading about the other one again and I could never make up my mind and I ended up liking both. If there are other stories with more than one couple as the main characters I’ve never read them so I have nothing to compare it to. Thus, this is by far the best two-couple book I’ve ever read! ;) 4.5 stars. ** I was gifted a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review **

Loved going back into this world and these characters and the journey the author lead us through this time and setting things up for more to come. I loved seeing Liberty adjust to being back in the human world after being in Hell, watching her regain her confidence.

First off, I'm so happy I got the arc from the author just a few days after I read the previous book (who I also loved). I have always trouble with remembering all the names and whatnot, so reading Into the Darkness was now a pice of cake. The best part is that we not only get one story, heck no, we get to see two couples finally getting together. And seriously, they took their sweet time tying the knot. But on the other side, the sexual tension was off the charts. ;) Since you have two stories in one book, I felt like the main story was about Rhea and Conall. But Liberty and Rory's story had it's fair share of attention, too. So it doesn't matter whose story you like more, basically everyone gets their fair share of attention. We even get to see some of Finn's POV, which was quite refreshing. I liked Rhea's character. She was a very well respected warrior who knew her worth. I was so sad to read what happened to her when she was younger but at the same time glad that she now became so much more. She lost someone whom she cared for very much and didn't want to make the same mistakes again with Conall. I get her fears but there were times where I simply wanted to shake her real good. Being the stuborn female that she is, she would probably just tell me to bug off, like she did her friends. But thankfully we got one hot alpha who won't take no for an answer. Man, I loved Conall. He was such a softy when it came to Rhea but ONLY when it came to Rhea. To others he was the powerful and fear worthy alpha dragon. He knew from the first time he saw her that she was meant to be his but bided his time, since he knew that coming on too strong would only drive Rhea away from him and he'd lose his chance at happy ever after for good. Eight months later, he'd done playing around and it's time he claimes what's his. Their story is amazing. Add to all that the danger by someone from her past, the high sexual tension, all the good times from seeing characters from previous books and of course the fireworks once those two finally get together and you get a book worth your money. Of course we can't forget about Liberty and Rory's story. We got to know them in the previous book and what Liberty had to go through was trully horrifying. It takes her a long time and some help to get up on her feet again but once she does her character starts to really bloom. We know that Rory had strong feelings for her and I loved him for being so patient and supportive with her. Seeing him sleep in his wolf form was so cute and adorable. He really helped Liberty to get over her fears and start healing again. Oh, he's real friendly to all men that talk to his Liberty, yup, a real golden boy. Who I am kidding? Of course he wants to slaughter everyone who gets too close to her, occasionally even his brother. No, but seriously, both stories are fantastic and I absolutely didn't regret reading it. If you like action mixed with PNR and romance then this book is definitely for you. So go get it!

Shifters and Suspense -- can't go wrong. Into the Darkness by Katie Reus is Book 5 in the Darkness Series. The timeline of this book takes place several months after Hunted by Darkness end, during the weeklong celebration prior to Nyx and Bo’s wedding. In this book you get two stories for the price of one. Rory and Liberty and Conall and Rhea. Rhea has been a solider/enforcer for the Stavros wolf pack for over a hundred years. There are things in her past that only her alpha knows. Things that have made her the way that she is and are still affecting her today. Conall, the alpha of the Petronilla dragon clan knows that Rhea is his mate. He has been biding his time waiting for the opportunity to court Rhea. When someone from Rhea’s past threatens the Stavros pack and interrupts the pre-wedding festivities – Rhea and Conall work together along with others from the pack and clans to eliminate the threat. Liberty is a survivor. She was transported from the human realm to a hell realm where she was abused by a band of half demons. She was rescued by Rory and his half-brothers in Hunted by Darkness. Rory a half-demon, half wolf shifter knows that Liberty is his. Liberty thinks that she is too broken to be in a relationship with anyone. You are able to see how Liberty overcomes her fears and how the bond between she and Rory develops and matures. The interactions between the four central characters and the second characters in this book is totally believable. The action is fast paced. The heat/steam factor is definitely there. I love this world that was created by Ms. Reus. The characters are believable – the males (and some of the females) are totally alpha and it is interesting to see them interact with each other. I would give this book a definite 4.5 stars. I was provided with a gift copy of this book for an honest review but I also purchased the book.

Wow! I really liked this book. You know how some series start getting stale after a number of books in a series...not the case here. I really think this one gets better and better each time. The diversity of the supernatural characters and pairings of them keep things interesting and lead to so many possibilities. This story, or stories as the case may be is a perfect example. In this book there are two love stories happening simultaneously and I think it was smart blending them together like Ms. Reus did. We have Conall, a dragon shifter and Rhea, a wolf shifter who started to come together a few books ago. There story is a slow build-up as they start as friends long-distance and by the time they are together and alone, their chemistry kind of explodes. Plus, they have to deal with someone from Rhea's past who is out to hurt her and the whole community. Then we have Rory, half-wolf, half-demon and Liberty, a human who we met in the last book. From the beginning you could see that Liberty affected Rory and his possessive side, he basically had not left her side since they rescued her. Theirs is a much faster romance, though slow in some ways too, I know that makes no sense...lol though they both have their worries about how to go about this relationship, they put themselves out there and open for the chance at happiness. Learning how Liberty ended up in hell was interesting and I was glad that was included in the story. Excellent, well-rounded story! It is not all romance, there is plenty of action and suspense happening here too. Waiting somewhat patiently to see what happens in the next book! 4.5Stars *Received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

We I read the blurb for this, I thought it was two separate stories. It's one but tells the stories of two separate couples, Rhea and Conall and Rory and Liberty. I was a little disappointed but it all goes together so smoothly. Rhea is a wolf shifter and a warrior. Conall is an Alpha dragon shifter and has his own clan. He has known Rhea was his mate since he first meet her. But Rhea had a bad past and doesn't want to mate but she can't help the pull she feels towards Conall. Liberty is human but was kidnapped and taken to the Hell realm where she was raped repeatedly. Rory is half wolf half demon and helped rescue Liberty. It's taken eight months, but she is getting stronger and very attracted to Rory. He doesn't want to scare her, so he takes it slow because he knows she's his mate and he'll do anything to keep her safe. Plenty of sexual tension. Fire breathing dragons. Wolves, demons, and parties galore. What bothered me was a couple of times they would go back a couple of months and then back to present. The story is very well written and you see characters from earlier books. I laughed and can't wait for next book. *RECEIVED A COPY FROM NETGALLEY*

I didn’t expect the books in the series to get any better than the previous one (which I fell in love with) but Into the Darkness, the fifth book in the series was beyond awesome. Into the darkness offers not one but two stories which means two different couples. In Hunted by darkness, Nyx and Bo found their HEA and in this book they are ready to tie the knot. Everyone (aka their allies) is welcome to join their week long celebrations before their wedding. However, things don’t always go according to the plan, especially with so many supernatural creatures around. Wolf shifter, Rhea, is happy for Nyx and Bo but when an unknown enemy seems poised to ruin their celebrations, Rhea will do anything to ensure that everyone’s safe even work with Alpha Dragon, Conal. Rhea and Conal’s friendship has been developing through the last couple of books in the series but they both want more even if they are afraid to admit it. Conal has been too patient and he’s too stubborn to give up now, especially when it becomes clear that the attacks are somehow connected with Rhea’s past. He will have his mate and destroy her enemies. If only it were that simple. Ever since Liberty was freed from hell, wolf/demon shifter Rory, Bo’s half-brother, has been by her side. His presence comforts her but Liberty knows that it’s time she moved on from her haunting memories of her captivity. Now, eight months later she’s trying to be helpful by organizing Nyx’s wedding celebrations. But with the sudden attacks happening, Rory will once again, stay by her side and protect her. Liberty, years for more than protection from him and she will gave to make sure the wolf/demon knows that! Into the darkness was brilliant. Katie used Bo and Nyx’s wedding in order to create two beautiful stories and bring together two amazing couples. I loved that we also got to see glimpses of the first couple in the series, Finn and Lyra, whom I adore and their daughter Vega. I can’t wait for more. I really can’t wait to read Ian or Vega or Cynara’s story! *ARC provided in exchange for an honest review*

Darkness Awakened Lyra shows up at Finn’s house wanting help to find her daughter Vega who was kidnapped because of a prophecy. Finn finally comes face to face again with his long lost love he has been searching for years to find, so when she needs his help he won’t turn her away. There love was once forbidden; vampires and werewolves aren’t supposed to fall in love and now that Lyra is back in Finn’s life and he’s determined to keep her there no matter what. When he finds out Vega is his daughter there is nothing and no one who will stop him from finding her; he must protect the daughter he never knew existed, once he has done that he must do what he should have done years before. Taste of Darkness Drake is a dragon that has been literally trapped in hell for most of his life. He saves Victoria and is accepted into her wolf pack as a member. Drake remembers nothing of his previous life and the question that remains is how did he end up in hell? Drake’s need to let off steam gives him unwanted attention and the attention of someone who wants revenge. Strangers approach Drake claiming they are his family; where was his family when he was in hell and are they truly who they claim to be? Danger seems to follow Drake wherever he goes and how much is he willing to risk to get the answers he need. Taste of Darkness is a paranormal read full of mystery, suspense, revenge and romance. Beyond the Darkness I knew from the chemistry between Bo and Nyx in previous books that when they finally decide to stop fighting against what they feel and come together it would be off the charts. Friendship between the two turns to love but with a past like Bo’s could Nyx really accept him fully? Nyx owes a favor to her mother and her mother has come to cash in on that favor. Nyx knows what her mother asks of her is too simple but it must be done or Nyx will be at the mercy of her father. Nyx and Bo are in for the journey of their lives and that journey leads them to quite a few surprises along the way. Nyx knows she is powerful but she’s still unsure of her full potential. However, she will definitely learn a few things along the way. I love the way characters from the previous books are always included in the next book and along the way we get a few new characters which leads to more surprises. I cannot wait to see who the next story will be about. This series is a definite recommendation for paranormal book lovers as this book has a little of everything; vampires, dragons, fae, shifters, demons, goddesses and more. This series is perfect for all paranormal lovers who enjoy reading about all types of "creatures" because this series has it all. I've enjoy this series a lot and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I recommend readers reading the series in order so you don't miss anything going on with the characters because all of the characters introduced in the first book appears in every book.

Two romances intertwined with a suspenseful storyline… This is the fifth book in the Darkness series that can be read as a stand-alone but the reading will be enhanced if you’ve read the previous books where you first meet the main characters and learn something of their history. This time there are two romance stories nicely intertwined with a suspenseful storyline. Someone is out to harm the Lazos pack and Rhea the wolf shifter, warrior and best tracker of the pack suspects it could pertain to her past, a past that she has kept secret from most within her pack with the exception of her alpha. To complicate matters Conall, the dragon shifter and alpha of his clan is in town with his brother for the wedding of Bo and Nyx and the feelings the dragon shifter evokes in her are a serious distraction. She has reasons for not wanting to mate but Conall tempts her like no other has. He’s not just in town for the wedding, he’s wanted Rhea from the moment he first met her but has bided his time beginning with a true friendship. But he’s waited long enough, a testament to a strong level of patience which the dragon in him has had enough of. With someone out to harm Rhea, Conall gives her his protection and support whether she wants it or not and he still respects the warrior that she is, being an alpha he appreciates her strength. Can he convince her to take a chance on them? After being rescued from a hell dimension Liberty, a human who never suspected the existence of the paranormal world finds herself living amongst them where she now feels safest. Her perception of the world forever altered she’s had much healing to do, first of the body and then of the mind. With the help of the Lazos pack and Rory, the half demon half wolf shifter who rescued her she’s made much progress. Rory has been her friend and support system by day and guardian in wolf form at night. But that’s not why he’s stayed by her side, not returning to the hell dimension which was his home with his brother, he wants more from the beautiful Liberty. But is she ready for more after the brutality of what she’d been through? As the event planner for the upcoming wedding Liberty takes things in stride when the pack is targeted, she’s stronger than she realizes, she’s already proven that she’s a survivor. She wants more from Rory too but is she now too broken for relationships? Considering that this book was split between two interesting couples there is no loss in emotional depth of the characters. You can empathize with what torments them and are easily invested in their outcome. I love how they supported each other, giving the other what was needed to grow and stand strong. This series has fascinating characters and suspenseful storylines, the diverseness of the Lazos pack and their alliances makes this series a favorite. I look forward to more in this series. Another great addition to the Darkness series and I loved it. There is suspense, mystery, sexual chemistry and the story line is intriguing. I enjoyed how the author combined two couples journey to find happiness into one remarkable story. This book is full of very strong and unique characters that have great interactions. Loved it! *May contain spoilers * The author has knocked it out of the ballpark with this installment in the Darkness Series. We get two stories pretty much. Rory who is half brother to Bo is determined to keep Liberty safe and he even goes so far as to talk to Finn about a few things. Then we have Conall who is the Alpha Dragon but who has had the hots for Rhea since they were all up at the ski lodge. Rhea is one tough female so it is going to be very hard for her to let a bit of lower for Conall. Liberty is given something by the Queen Dragon mother herself but what is it? And why? They are all in when it comes to taking out a rogue shifter pack who is in town and taking females. Turns out it's Rhea's past coming back to haunt her. Fantastic book, the story is strong, the characters are fantastic. What more could you want? I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.
