Overview

Into the Deep is a full-length novel, book one in a series.

"This is possibly one of the most addictive books I have ever had the pleasure of reading...Epic. Unforgettable. Heartbreaking. A must read." — Natasha is a Book Junkie.

Live young. Live hard. Love deep.

Charley Redford was just an ordinary girl until Jake Caplin moved to her small town in Indiana and convinced her she was extraordinary. Almost from day one Jake pulled Charley into the deep and promised he was right there with her. But when a tragic incident darkened Jake’s life he waded out into the shallows and left Charley behind.

Almost four years later Charley thinks she’s moved on. That is until she takes a study year abroad in Edinburgh and bumps into none other than Jake Caplin at a party with his new girlfriend. The bad-boy-turned-good attempts to convince Charley to forgive him, and as her best friend starts spending time with Jake’s, Charley calls a truce, only to find herself tumbling back into a friendship with him.

As they grow closer, the spark between them flares and begins playing havoc with their lives and relationships. When jealousy and longing rear their destructive heads, Charley and Jake struggle to come to grips with what they mean to one another.

And even if they work it out, there is no guarantee Charley will ever trust Jake to lead her back into the deep…

"Mindblowing. Intense. Arousing. Heartbreaking and heartfelt. As always, Samantha hits it off the charts with one of the most engrossing love affairs EVER." —Tsk, Tsk, What to Read?

"Into The Deep took me on an emotional rollercoaster full of first love, senseless tragedy, heart-wrenching heartache, anger, understanding and completeness." — Out There Reviews and Stuff

"From the very beginning, this book captures you in its spell. Samantha Young is a phenomenal storyteller." — Alpha's, Authors, & Books, Oh My

"All of the characters were written so well, I felt as if I knew them...The pull between Jake and Charley was so enormous that it literally leapt from the pages and pulled me into it too...Five stars just doesn't do this book justice!" — Redheaded bookworm

    Couldn't finish this half book.
Into the deep is yet another half book, which isn't mentioned anywhere. The writing is bad and childish, and the flashbacks to high school are too much so that throughout I thought I was reading a book for teenagers. The spelling keeps jumping back and forth between American, British English and spelling mistakes. I wish someone had mentioned that this is yet another one of those books with part 1 out of I don't know how many. Please stop publishing chapter books, or at least be honest about it.

I am just going to say it.  I loved this book.  The whole idea of "What if your first love really was your one and only, but life got in the way?" made this book rise above so much of the NA out there now.  Charley was heart broken and moved on the best she could after tragedy struck one night and she lost more than just her first love.  Jake was just as heartbroken, but carried more then heart break with them all those years.  When they finally reconnect while studying abroad in Scotland, emotions run high, sparks fly, and old wounds are reopened and explored.  There is something about the way that Samantha writes that just sucks you in and does not let you go even after you have read the last page.  Set in the backdrop of Scotland and filled with wonderful secondary characters, this book stands really stands out in the crowd.

This is book one, so not all the loose ends are tied up in a pretty bow.  In fact, there is much left open.  That being said this was not a cliffhanger and while I really want to know what comes next and hope the series ends with an amazing HEA of all HEAs, I am ok with where it ended.  There is a bonus scene from Jake's point of view at the end that really adds a ton to the book. It is amazing how seeing a little glimpse of what one character thought much earlier in the book really adds depth to the story.  I am so glad it was included.

Thank you to the reviewer that warned this is a cliffhanger. No thanks to the author for not revealing this. I will not buy this book. Loved her first book. It was a COMPLETE book.

    Amazing Read

I love the way Samantha Young writes amazing characters. If you loved Down London Road you will love this book even more. This book is beautifully crafted and goes from present to past in a way that is seamless and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters are honest and real and extremely relatable. You will be sucked in to this book and not want to put it down so make sure you have plenty of time to devote to this book.

I think this book was a perfect display of your first love! People are commenting that this is juvenile, but they were in highschool when they met.
Also when they reconnected all their highschool feelings came back! I think the author gave an accurate account on how it actually works! The only thing sometimes
peoples first loves are better left in the past, so that's why I'm super excited to see what book two shows!

Half book so right off the bat it gets an F. In addition, it was EXTREMELY juvenile. I didn't like jake at all as with most love stories a reader tends to cheer for the hero but no he was a tool. I don't understand what was so special about him, the author failed to reel me in. There was no connection between Charley and jake or at least the author did not do a good job at establishing their 'connection.' I wish I could get a refund I skipped through most of this I will most assuredly not return for the sequel.

Loved this book!  Samantha Young's books are amazing.  The characters are so well written and Charley was such fun to root for.  She's smart, tough, and a great friend!  I usually hate cliffhangers, but this book ended on a good note.  I can't wait to read book #2!

    Incredible story!

I just finished Into the Deep and my only disappointment is that it is over for now! It is such an emotional and well paced story. I loved how the book went back and forth between their current interactions in Edinburgh and how their relationship initially developed in the States several years prior.

Another outstanding book by Samantha Young.

    Loved It!!

I loved this book. I could not put it down!!!!! Great character development. Believeable storyline, every one has been through a bad break-up and the dreadful first you see your ex again....this his new girlfriend.

For the first half of the book...each chapater goes back between their current lives and when they previously dated... I really liked this approach to the story because you didn't come out of the gates knowing their history, so suspense built and it keeps you reading on.... I can't wait to read the second book!! Highly recommend.

I borrowed this book from a friend because looked like it would a great book and it turned out I was right. I was inthe same situtation when I was that age altough I didn't get my happy ending like Charly and Jake. This book brought back memories of mine from the my past so I could relate to the characters and I cried for both Charly and Jake. In the end I'm glad they got their happy ending because the entire time I was reading this book I was rooting for Charly and Jake. I can't wait for the next book to come out next yr. so that we can see it from Jake's point of view. I think the author did an amazing job on this book no matter what anyone says. They just don't appreciate a good book when its in front of them. So don't let the negative thoughts of people who can't understand how amazing this book was great. The reasonit goes back in forth between english and a different language is because the characters are in a different country where it is only natural for some the characters who live in that country to speak there natural language. I hope the next book is just as amazing as tne first and I hope the author keeps up the work and ignore all the other stupid comments who don't seem to appreciate a good read when they find one.
